You mustn’t have a good opinion of Podkolzin either?
-
He is consistently used on the PK, one of his strong specialties, And this is a longer rink I beleive..
-
Well your comparisons of forwards who are “have beens” and given huge opportunities in the NHL, seem far more inferior, than that of an opinion on an untapped prospect Dman, who showed very good potential playing and matched against some of the biggest and best power forwards in the NHL for only 69 games in the NHL as a 21 year of rookie. No offence.
-
No . They peaked, Granlund actually was used well and played well with us. Shinkaruk couldn’t translate his game to the NHL . Vey was given many opportunities and couldn’t,. As were many more of WD’s favs from Junior. I assume your not looking for a scoring star out of Tryamkin lol.

Jimmy, I add more weight to what we saw of Tryamkin in 69 games, on a Canuck TEAM weak on Dfence, Offence, and Coaching. For anyone to say they did not see any “shine” in this rookie on that squad was not watching him play. He is 4 years older at 26 ( young) in my books for any Big D men that survive any real time in the NHL. He has had no major injuries, and continued to develop, his above average mobility and skating is undeminished. The monster D men that have great longetivity I the NHL usually grow into their bodies at 26-27-28.. As far as monster D menster d men go,you can’t help but mention Robinson Pronger Chara Webber .. Burns is of that same template, Tryamkin is of this same template, and this organization should not give up on that. We need to see at least 2 years of him or more in his 1st contract back. Is he still a bit of a project as a prospect? Far less than Virtannen, and far less than Joulevi have been,. As well as any of the other favourites WD protected over his 3 years of Coaching. One YOUNGER D man that the hawks might be giving up on is Zadorov.. feels the same as Ottawa or the Islanders giving up on Chara. Green is the right Coach for NIK, but I’d personally like to see a shift on D coaching to bring some symmetry in method of play for the D core from game to game.

It doesn’t mean that it makes him less effective either. Edit.

I’ve re read my posts, and no where have I stated “matter of fact”. I’ve openly stated I am keen on him, and I have great expectations of him. Ive stated all along in most of my posts over the years that I usually hold to my opinions. Sometimes that changes, and I usually admit to it in the same new opinion I offer for discussion. But, “as a matter of fact”, He didn’t QUIT our team, on 2 occasions he was without a contract, and was free to do what he wants. .. but you might know better about “quitting”, maybe it’s something your good at, or have more experience with? Or this might be simply the right time to do it.

Thank you, and I think that might have been related to a mono outbreak.

I just want to add to your fair comments PBoi,. What a lot of posters tend to not calculate in their opinions of other players playing in other leagues, is how, when a player gets the opportunity to play with NHL class players, how his game can change and be brought up to a level nobody could think of. We were seeing the beginnings of that in NT’s first full season here. Call it “climate change” between leagues, The ability of others to bring the level of your potential to a level unseen. We might see a ceiling or potential in a player shape itself, ever wonder how some undrafted or late round picks become the better players they are? Some thrive in new surroundings with new beginnings playing or working with the best. Others with better potential, never bringing the balance of the game they were scouted on. Tryamkin , I beleive is one of those, playing in a league that offers limited potential, . His potential is far greater than the climate he is in, and some of the players he has played with. His stats probably show more of that lately. Some wonder why or how I could be so keen on Tryamkin? ... to those, If you truly watched his “game” in his first rookie season here, and watched how our rookie 21 year old was matched up against some of the biggest and best seasoned power forwards in the NHL.. If you saw something special or enlightening in how he played in 69 rookie games... Ask this question to yourself, Had he been with us as a Canuck for the past 4 years,. continuing to play with and against the NHLs best, can you not imagine the potential, this now 26 yr old young man still has, and what type of player still currently exists when he comes back to this climate? Every players journey in professional sports is different. There can be value in that.
-
I’ve watched about 10-12 games he has played per year over the past 4 years. I do watch more hi light reels and follow other accounts that follow his play and others. Its just my opinion on this topic. .. and your opinion is on this topic and thread .. Or me? are you confused Feltch? my apologies if that seemed too abrasive.. but you seem pretty good at it. Do you ever look in a mirror and ask yourself an important question?
-
Well, let’s disagree about this and see how next season unfolds. Cheers
-
I think he will always be better than Joulevi . right now I can not see Joulevi being in the top 4.. maybe in 2 years Tryamkin I can see in top 4 after 1 full season or less. possible partners, yes. Scmidtts offence is greater than Tryamkins, but not his D fence... and we are talking D men.
-
He is better than Joulevi,. and debatably better than Schmidt.. His shutdown D end game is easily better than both,. As is his PK . He m o v e s players out of the screen lane with ease. I know I sound “keen” on him.. but he moves so quickly with 2 steps and that stick gets into a players “bail” move before he takes the body.. it’s seriously 12 feet or more from his body. His intimidation, of the half stride to take a hit, stops plays from developing. There are no stats for how is pressence effects a puck carting player taking it into his zone man o man.
-
I feel I have to keep doing this.. call me superstitious
-
The Pearson signing is a good one for the Team actually.. he gives us another solid year of stability, the 22-23 season he submits a 7 team no trade list.. and the 3rd is open to move. I doubt Pearson becomes a player not worth a good asset down the line.. or we have a vet at good value who funnels to the net consistently.. try and get that out of Jake.
-
Pretty sure the Big Man is a top 4 pairing before the 2022 playoffs. Injuries are certain to give Nik every opportunity to prove himself. He is already above Joulevi, Rathbone could potentially push someone out for good asset. Crazy to think, but I don’t think Tryamkin has had a serious injury in his career to date.. @Stierlitz or @Hairy Kneel might know better?
-
We can not really afford to sign anyone other than Tryamkin before the EDraft.. the fact remains if signed he is ours and he dosent need protecting. If we sign Hamonic or Edler before ED they would need protection. As of right now I think we are protecting Schmidt and Myers.. some one correct me or my line of thinking on this? As UFAs. Both Edler and Hamonic can hear offers from Seattle, but they don’t have to take them and could wait to sign after the ED at their own discression. I would rather sign Tryamkin now, and get him here for mid June, settled and training for a new season ramping up in Sept /Oct.
-
Look at our starting six right now, and tell me he isn’t an upgrade ?
-
Time ? If we don’t sign him this year,. We’ve lost him. Tryamkin is all about integrity and fairness. he was waiting to join us this season. He wants to play in the NHL, and he proved that he can play in the NHL in his rookie season. Do you think this player has gotten worse? You obviously have not seen him play for the last 4 years.
-
That would be nice, I do see Hamonic with more of an upside all around over Tanev. pretty easy to say that he has replaced him. If he could be retained for 3 years without Clauses in that final season for around that money, I think he would stay. The beauty of the D situation , is we aren’t really tied into anyone. Myers is an exception, but with a better D core , Myers play will get better too. Hes the only real set of broad shoulders, other than Hamonics Grit.
-
This is what Tanev thought too. Hughes can make anyone look good, but yes, I agree it has to be the right fit,. I like Hamonic over Tanev more because he has grit, and will back any team mate up. proved it again last night. I don’t think Hamonic is worth 4m per,. but possibly edging up to +/- 3m per , short term.
-
I’m in agreement with that number,. I beleive to keep him from UFA for 3 years for an extra 1.5 over Hamonic’s avg. Tryamkin was offered 2m per before he left. and is worth that. Why do you think he is “very unproven”? personaly , I saw enough of Tryamkin to generate the 2m before he left. And the growth i have witnessed of him in the KHL supports that as a minimum. If Tryamkin is not signing for 3 years, he is signing for 2 years.. probably 2m per. But do you risk his probable rise in salary after 2 years, or try to stretch that to 3? Ps. Just because Hamonic fits with Hughes, dosent mean anyone else can’t. Is he worth more than 2m per, yes , short term. I stated the same about Tanev, and low and behold, Hamonic stepped in.

That would be sweet.
