  1. The fact remains the JB felt he had something special in Tryamkin even though he was picked in the 3rd rnd. Before that.. I myself only saw him play at the world juniors the year JB drafted him,. realizing he was passed in the NHL Draft the year before as I watched him at the World juniors was my WTF moment.. he even travelled to the draft the year he was overlooked. After his first 10 games with the Canucks you could see he would stick, just needed to be handled properly.. his first full season after that I saw Tryamkin make the breakthroughs he needed as a rookie,. But was not coached or supported properly .. Desjardins in a media interview was asked if he talks to Tryamkin,. WD said no, he lets the twins do that.. < that was another WTF moment. He wants to play here, it will happen.. He will play with us for a long time, I’m sure of this. He is the type of player that will excel in the NHL,. Playing with the worlds best, brings the best out of some, weaknesses in others. Tryamkin needs this team as much as it needs him.
  2. I think Demko will prove this to be an exceptional contract. This young man is guaranteed a great living in a beautiful part of the world, in the profession he loves. Giving young men this peace of mind in their early careers and going into their prime should pay better dividends than this type of money going to vets playing safe into their sunsets. In comparison to this, I would use the Sutter and Eriksson contracts .. one would think that men in their 30’s would give you more.. but ultimately retiring is on the horizon. Perhaps players in their mid 30’s should have contracts that are written more production based or of that orientation. Challenging type contracts can bring out better performance. Im not proposing the “puck hog” mentality,. but perhaps some type of formula based on all stats and rythyms would work better for players and franchises . just my 2 bits,. I’ve been watching this game evolve for 50 years , yes the contracts increase in pay,. But they haven’t really evolved to the type of game it is.. including the danger it has.
  3. I’m going to go to the Cancelled game day thread and let everyone know !!
  4. Bouds, Nik leaving was the straw that broke the camels back for Desjardins, ive never seen a coach deploy a team like he did.. I do think Benning was questioning his Coaching to Linden the year before. it’s my belief that Linden fully backed Desjardins to his own bitter end. paitence can be a virtue,. But where there is smoke, and a fire.. it’s gotta be put out.
  5. These past 2 seasons really have not been normal for any growth but minimal,. A full season scheduled with teams across the borders of this continent will sure to have us in a bright spot.. and considering our rebuild has been through 2 expansions, and mild cap growth.. I’m sure we will shine.
  6. Have to solidly agree Hairy,. I think he becomes one of the “next” ones in the sense of loyalty to this team. I do beleive his iron health and fitness will prove to pay dividends off on his contract after this next one.. A longer term with clauses after a probable 2 year tenure with us, will prove wise for both Team and player. There is only a shallow handful of D men in this league of his size and skating abilities with his type of co-ordinated athleticism. We’ve seen a bit his “edge” develop this season, I do beleive this league will bring him a tenacity to be the best he can be.
  7. Pretty sure Nik is signed with the Canucks inside of 7 days after the Expansion Draft.. although the later free agency date might factor into that,. Or not, depending on any pre negotiations with potential FA signings. dates to remember:
  8. Ron knows himself that refs control a game in an extra curricular way. . He will never admit to it, the referees are as much a “boys club” as anything else in the world that wears a badge or wears its colours. The abuse the Sedins took over the years that was never called as simple as “unsportsmanlike” is still beyond belief . More retaliatory penalties are called because a ref dosent call instigating infraction which is usually always an unsportsmanlike call in the very least. Too many referees with egocentric issues looking for respect, rather than earning it with the right call first and gaining the respect of players who know they can play safely, without the b.s. the referees create in a dangerous game. Careers have ended over bad calls and the oversight the NHL has had in on ice situations, the Bertuzzi incident comes to mind,. Could easily been handled right after Moore’s illegal hit on Naslund.. Instead, the league leaves a fuse lit, and they knew it. . . That in itself was aiding to that outcome. Had Moore been given a suspension, and not allowed to play in the next game against the Vanucks .. that outcome, and how far the Canucks went into the playoffs would have been entirely different. Doing the right thing makes a difference, the right one.
  9. Makes some changes to the “Expansion “ while they are at it.. Perhaps exempt the bottom 10 teams from exposure. it affects how fragile teams have been trying to rebuild and restructure over previous years and stalls their progression. The Expansion clubs seem to have an upper hand far too great.
  10. The Ballard curse will rectify everything,. that’s what nobody wants.. If Pyramid Power can’t shake it, nothing can..
  11. So we “phase” out another D man in a year or 2,. Or move Ekholm again. It helps to make us stronger in the”present”. I don’t see any harm in 2 years of strength in creating the “present”.. or worrying about 2 years from now from a position of that same strength. This is a way of supporting rotation of good players by way of attrition ,. something this team has historically failed to do by hanging on to players too long, or signing contracts that prohibit that flexibility. just my point of veiw Mil, always appreciate your perspective.
  12. I like this approach, perhaps it’s solidifying a 4th line or better for next season in the process of moving someone on who needs a fresh start, or brings something needed to this club in another move. Boyd wouldn’t look bad with Vesey and Motte, he is a thinker, creates time and space.. heads up player.
  13. Even if it does start with a first round pick, I go in on Ekholm and his proof of play vs something unknown or unproven . This team is at a step where we can skip a beat at the draft.. and tighten up a depth in its D core . It’s needed.
  14. My thoughts exactly.. perhaps make a move for the D man Eklohm in Nashville?
  15. But it clearly states his 27th birthdate.. ?
  16. Found another clip,. good jump on the read..
  17. I hope to see Tryamkin treated fairly,. He is a loyal player , but does understand when he is not treated fairly , he must be loyal to himself.
  18. I see a 2 x 2m. Or 3 x 2.5 . The years after that , prepare for Nik becoming a 5m + per Dman. He is an iron type player, by this I mean he will have great longetivity to his health and games played.. he will be strong into his mid 30’ years. I think JB is looking at who to drop on D to keep a position for Nik to walk in to. I also think Edler might possibly be offered a deal from Seattle as a UFA , that amounts to more than we will pay to retain him. .. enter Tryamkin. Hamonic, I would try to sign again without going passed 2.5m per. Hamonic Hughes Schmidt Myers Tryamkin Jolevi ( I would love to see Eklohm here with Jolevi as the 7th ) I just saw on Capfriendly that Tryamkin MUST SiGN by his 27 yr old birthday .. AUGUST 30 th 2021. ( capfriendly canucks reserve list )
  19. There are hi lights of him winding up and launching out of his own end somewhere.. he is an excellent skater.. and 260 at that speed is not something guys want to get in front of... this is where the deep drop pass to him at full speed on a pp and in OT would work. Specialty assignments can win you games, and take you beyond.
  20. I’m confident room will be made for Tryamkin to play and perform with us,. In what I hope is a full regular season of NHL Hockey. He was a 3rd rnd pick,. Some here say I have high expectations of him,. As a 3rd rnd pick, yes, I have above average expectations that I’m sure he will meet. After 1 more full season of NHL hockey, I see Tryamkin as a top 2 pairing D man. top 4 play,. PK solid.. and if used as a specialist in overtime.. this...
