Hairy, the more Hockey Season can push into the Baseball Season is a gift from the Gods ! ... given the the overall situation, perhaps it’s better to wait as long as they can to finish the 19-20 season, and have a shortened “off season” (4 week ? ), before starting the 20-22 season. OF course, Science and common sense leading any decisions. i can see that training and practices before anything starts should be mandatory for at least 3 weeks.. I’m sure that would allow management to deal with player and personnel itineraries.. but the thought of all of those needs being met is to realize the incredible endeavour in itself. The league is right to think of it as the end of season and playoffs being showcased as a “Giant Hockey Town” or it’s own DisneyLand, but even then, 3-4- or 5 games a day on one sheet of ice ? If it happens, There will be at least **** 4 asterisks besides this Cup win, hiding the favourite cuss word of anyone’s choice.

[Report] Jets officially terminate Byfuglien’s contract
SilentSam replied to qwijibo's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
An incredible player, rare, there isn’t a team in the world that wouldn’t want his type on there roster. I just saw a sports net montage where the players are showing up in their suits and walking to their dressing room, Byfuglien runs up behind them training before the game, running a few laps in what looks to be a 20-30lb weighted vest.. he actually dodges between them all fleetfooted.. no wonder he skated and looked so light on his feet some games. -
[Report] Jets officially terminate Byfuglien’s contract

Byfuglien is not injury prone.. the 18-19 season was the ankle problem. ( 40+ games played). The 5 previous seasons to that DB played 70 to 80 games per season.. unlike certain injury prone players.. He is fast and skilled. At 35 yrs old he has had a remarkable career.. If he could get himself into peak shape, there is probably 2 more solid seasons in him. By all accounts he has simply had enough, ..but if his mind leads his body back to the game.. ..the power in that man will carry it. -
This, just as the KHL converted 12 teams to a smaller ice surface, and plans are for all teams to have changed over in the next 2 years. Its the IIHF That has said that they prefer the NA size because the game is faster and more exciting,. And I have to admit that after watching a dozen KHL games this year, the game looks slower just because there is so much open ice. i think the only thing I would change is to add an extra 1.5’ behind each net (3 ft xtra total rink length) , it’s that zone that can be deadly. .. and would also allow for a little more finesse room for either D man or Forward.
-
All about desire for Byfuglien.. if he wants to, if he can, he will. But that’s been a lot of weight skating on solid ice for many years,. Not quite as forgiving as Turf.
-
I think it’s interesting how quiet Byfuglien has been over his issue with the Jets.. i think there is obviously more to hear about this story than just how disgruntled the Jets have been over this. Not like a player has ever been mishandled before, and a player taking his best interest into his own hands.. ..if that’s the case,. I wouldn’t be surprised to see DB playing in top form for 2 more years somewhere.. rumour was it was ankle surgery late last year just as the season started, the only other thing I heard was he had been with his own doctors, therapists, and trainers. Thats lots of time to see if a return is possible.. and be sure he’s in top form.. only Buff knows. ... perhaps T Myers talks him? Geezuz.. what a physical mentor he would be for Tryamkin.. who is already a beast of a young man.

So then your condensing more people ( players staff gear) into less venues.. per team, being realistic and minimalistic: 30 - 40 hotel rooms , staff, kitchens, gyms, Chiro, massage, health care,. god forbid somebody has to go to the hospital these daysto support that.. im not a fear monger, But do we have to lose a single player in any league and say “ it’s ok we/ he knew the risk” .. i really do not see this feasible without it still disrupting what so many are trying to achieve for the greater good. its been said that once true/ real testing, and a vaccine is created .. this is not over.
-
But then what? Teams, Trainers, Coaches, Management go into full quarantine away from Homes , Families, for 2-4 months? Thats a stressful environment.. then how does Flying with gear and unloading into other arenas ect ect.. Your only hoping that something serious dosent result from that.. isn’t that why myself and others here are off work right now.. We are all trying to contain this by not engaging.
-
I wonder how the players feel about facing off against each other when there has been Contracted cases reported by athletes.. it’s going to be interesting.
-
I don’t know if they’ll get to finish the season unless games are played without fans.. The Mayor of L.A. had said he sees all arena sports and concerts may be canceled until 2021.. im sure it’s a topic of discussion for all U.S. governors over the next few days.. sure to see The NHL align with the other sports leagues in fact finding and problem solving.
-
I expect the NHL to cancel the season within a week.. mayors and governors in the USA are looking at stopping concert and arena sports to 2021.. this may affect the next season of play for many sports .
-
All the way to Newton Arena !

I like this. his shutdown isn’t too bad, his crease presence is great.. tough as nails.. decent shot. .. I’ve only seen him get caught out of position if he plays in a lower case pairing.

If Toffoli resigns I consider trading Boeser or Demko for Ristolinen and a 1st ( in 2020 -21 or 22) lets not forget, regarding Demko, there is a possibility that Seattle will pick up A decent UFA goaltender and be looking to take a great backup goalie in the Extorsion draft.. I think we protect Marky before Demko.. ps. Realize Buffalo might not need a Demko, but he could been an asset to “lever” what their needs might be.. (possible 3 way). .. but does Botterhill even know what he needs?

That’s one of the reasons that LTIR was created.. to protect his contract and money owed to him for injury or medical issues from the game. Retiring should really cancel his contract and any or all obligations to it.. Yes he should be permitted to “retire”.. but that should cancel everything attached to that contract.. including the cap penalty. The NHLPA. should have addressed this issue for clarity.. not just the Canucks.
-
I’ve obviously got nothing better to do but dig up what seems to be a “Dead Horse”.. but here goes.. Most other players that would have been eligible for a cap recapture penalty conveniently went on long-term injured reserve for the final years of their contracts, avoiding the penalty. If you read Roberto Luongo’s open letter to his fans, it certainly seems like that could have been an option for him. “Since I had my hip surgery a couple of years ago, I've been showing up two hours before every practice and three hours before every game to work out my hip,” said Luongo in his letter. “Even at night, whether it was the night before a game or even a night off, there I was rolling out, doing strengthening exercises. My entire life revolved around recovery, strengthening and making sure I was ready to go the next day.” ... I’m not a lawyer, but should the NHLPA not have made sure that Luongo went on LTIR ? Dosent Luongo’s actions weaken the CBA for other players? Even Tallon stated before RL retired that it was hard watching his goaltender prepare and play in such pain.

Yes, those doors will open, saw a geo- map of how they “pinged” everybody’s Cel phone who was at one particular beach for spring break in Florida,.. and then they followed those pings for 7 days as they migrated and connected with others physically as and when they got back to their homes.. IT IS absolutely astonishing how a virus could possibly spread! ... if you don’t get a job in stats Canada, or a top job at a demographical studies company,. there’s always CSIS, intelligence agencies ,. and Probably a few Russian troll factories that would use your services Lol !! Times, and how we all do work and Buisness is about to change.. it is going to be interesting.. -

Jan, personally I think anyone who is retired or semi retired after the age of 60 should be tax exempt.. that being in investments, and income under 60k. that includes a “silver card” licence at the you whip out at the purchase registers to waive tax on merchandise and fuel. Why? Because it’s that age group that can stimulate the economy for others to work and pay taxes.. and it’s motivation to keep them both physically and mentally healthy by being involved.. in turn less strain on a medical system. I really hope some huge changes come around in everyone’s total life style, and work place after this Crisis is over.. there I far more value in quality of life, that we can all make simple adjustments, and attain. just randomly: Exercise, personal interactions, 4 day work week, Cost of living drop, the way we eat, education, investment in new energy and science. I can’t see myself retiring, so Im personally donating my life to the Mission to Mars at age 65.. I hold 2 red seal trades, Explosives and Pyrotechnics tickets, Hydralic, Pneumatic, and Electrical trained. .. I’m hoping to be on Mars before the next Pandemic. Investing in the future, and going out with a bang. Hope your well Jan, see you at the first game Tryamkin is back for ? -
Absolutely love the way AG has been getting better with us.. that was/ is a fantastic season for him.. inspires trust in a Coach to utilize him in other areas and assignments, and to trust other young men ( eg.MacEwan) in their growth. I was pleasantly surprised with his “go” moment with Murphy. really hope all of our Utica/ Canuck Team members take their training to a new level on this unfortunate hiatus from “the game”.. it is training that defines your career in sports ask a player like Z Chara, or S Doan.. and it’s that physical discipline that create the mental edge to look straight ahead to your goals. If, and or when Tryamkin arrives I hope he becomes the best that he possibly can here.. there is so much potential in him.
