  1. Systems change. The game is too fast not to. If players don’t evolve, they lose value because they can’t keep up. It’s already happening.
  2. But proposals start the conversation, whether it’s on these boards.. on over the GM’s telephone. Do you really think a GM would just double down to get a player in an opening conversation.. it all about wants and needs. .. but to just sit back and scream the “sky is falling”.. like you are.. well that’s kind of redundant.
  3. I really don’t buy into to much on what Hand a shooter is to what Side he plays anymore Agent.. the game is changing rapidly, roving, and rotating coverage is rapidly evolving the game. Saw it in the playoffs. The way that young new players like Hughes, Makar, and even Macevoy move, reaction and action on play making outweighs a zone type era. We might be surprised to see Risto move.. a conditional 1st rounder for JT miller?... Buffalo has expected more out of Ristolainen perhaps.. at 24, I think he is right on track.
  4. I wonder if Schenn is going to find much interest, given he played less than 20 games for us, the cap is not rising like it has in previous years, and the talent and prospect pools of teams is brimming.. we might be the only suitors to keep him up in the Bigs for at least a solid year for him to make a lasting impression. regardless I do like his play and how he fit with us.. I hope he can find something better than what we offered,. But chances are his agent will use our offer as minimum leverage.
  5. This may have been posted already, just a little more on Vasily..
  6. I don’t think we need to include the Tuna. Tanev still has value to the right team,. He would look better than Risto to them along side Bogosian or Montour. Tanev has never had a player properly watching his back here .. add Hutton. Or a 2nd rnd pick. Pretty sure Hutton will be passed by a prospect here by Christmas if his game hasn’t dramatically progressed.. if that’s the case, Hutton will be gone then.. or perhaps with the arrival of Tryamkin in February if his team is not in the KHL playoffs.
  7. I just think that Buffalo would still take Tanev, he is a drop of a mil on capspace.. and fills a hole that they would have by moving Risto. Tanev might look pretty good along side of Bogosian, Montour, Dahlin.
  8. Phone, offer Tanev and a 2nd round pick. let the talk begin.
  9. Just throwing these reads out there: https://www.diebytheblade.com/2019/5/2/18525782/if-the-buffalo-sabres-bring-rasmus-ristolainen-back-they-need-to-drastically-change-his-role https://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/sabres-gm-jason-botterill-knows-teams-will-ask-about-rasmus-ristolainen/
  10. I think the reporter is just adding to the bait that Botterill has thrown out.. I too doubt if he moves.. Botterill just probably wants to be involved in conversations with other Gm’s Who are seriously looking at other D to see “what if”. but I do have to say, at 24 yrs, I don’t think Ristolianen has reached the peak of his game and there is some great all round/ versiltile talent in this young man. To have him under the contract that he is for that many more years could be a huge bargain in itself. Only a mil more than Tanev, if Botterill still likes Tanev like he did a couple of years ago,. I think this gets done by adding a little. Came across this clip of him at 22 yrs old,. Given the game assignment of covering Lucic. ..Eriksson for Lucic,. Tanev for Ristolianen... hmmm
  11. ... could be an “extortion” deal by Seattle at that point.. perhaps we let a good pick go to save us the Markstrom/ Demko tandem , at least until Dipeitro is up to snuff,. And or Markstrom or Demko then become tradeable assets... but hopefully that’s after we see a Cup ;)
  12. Your really hoping that the Canucks get another lottery ticket? Youve seen what the Oilers have accomplished with McDavid haven’t you?
  13. I think we’re in sooner than you think. We do have dead weight that arbitrarily needs to go.. Eriksson , Tanev and Sutter should be high on that list.. thats about 15m per in space.
  14. We haven’t been to the playoffs in 4-5 years. More mediocrity, more lottery picks? If that what you want then cheer for the Oilers. Im not saying Miller puts us in the playoffs, but he is a player who will lead a team of young talent by example. His contract is for 4 more years, he will be a moveable asset to us at some point.. perhaps after a great playoff run where his play “pays it back” where we get a great draft pick down the road in a year we have placed in the top 12 teams overall. This isn’t just a move that helps us NOW, which is when it is needed most. . it is one that potentially pays back later. By all accounts we would lose Mazanec to FA.. the conditional 1st pick, is just that.. conditional... but not one that I would look forward to if we still haven’t made the playoffs by then.. and then wait for “that” pick to develop for 2-4 more years. I look at this as an instrumental move that helps us turn the corner and lines up the timing and progression of our prospects to be in the Bigs when they are ready, forcing a player like Miller in a position to be an asset to us down the line. There is far more to having a plan, than not having a plan.. this is not a random move by Benning. This is about team symmetry.. and 5.4 per for 4 years for a moveable Miller and what he brings, is smart
  15. That’s the upside, he’s been held lower and still amassed very good points. There are players on our club that we can part with. Eriksson, and Sutter for example.. a total of 12 m per.. Benning is bolstering before he pulls triggers on what will leave. Miller will play on any line,. That is what is needed in this league, great flexibility.
  16. From what I have read,. And anyone correct me if I’m wrong.. Mazanec may have recently signed in Europe, and is a FA on July 1st.. Dipetro has moved up as the priority above him.. sounds like Mazanec was getting buried, or lost any way, he may not have been happy in Utica? Someone with a better take on this might be @stonecoldstevebernier ? J T Miller will look fantastic with players on the club like Rossell, Pearson, Beagle... this should leave Eriksson looking like a frozen goober on the blueline.
  17. Gotta like Meier,. hes a damn big p——— k that can play the game well.. every aspect.
  18. How’s there Capspace after signing Karlsson? Could Kane move?
  19. Great move for the Hurricanes if they can buy out Marleau
