  1. I’m not sure which of our statements are more outrageous,. If you thinking that my opinion of Tryamkin as a 2nd pairing D man are my “high expectations” . .. or yours that he should or should have to spend 2 years in the AHL. Maybe I see a ceiling in this player that is untouched, and matched for the NHL game.. You see him slow on a large ice surface, as a big body with large stride as compared to foot speed. Either , or.. We both are hopeful that this prospect shines when he gets here, and can call Vancouver home for many years. ... but I have never been as excited to watch a Canuck since Bure.
  2. 3 years of his most critical? everyone has a different curve, and a different way of making it to the “bigs”.. Hell, Chara was unstable until the age of 27-28. Tryamkin is not meant to be rushing up the ice, he is a D man.. please tell me you don’t think that I’m looking for “McDavid” expectations.. He is. and will be NHL ready when he gets here. 60 games went a long way with Benning, and they do with me.. He will also be allowed to make mistakes, and thrown back into the mix. Maybe you were never given that option before? .. times change Rob. Let go of your era.
  3. Those are just a couple of clips from the past 2 years.. and the guy he dropped mitts with is probably listed as 6’5”.. and Nik dosent really want to fight,. But won’t leave a warranted challenge as we have seen here already. Expectations? I don’t really have any, . But I see a no lose situation with this player, no matter how “old school” wisdom sees it. Utica? Lol.. he would be there a day.. so that’s a worthless topic. He would be the best D man in Utica, and above 2-3 starters in Vancouver.. and that’s not optimism, that’s observation with watching Tryamkins game develop in the KHL. We’re not talking a #1 D man here Rob, I think we can both agree on that,. But I think you miss the point on how a #1 or 2 Dman are supported. Im done with how this young man was treated, unless someone mentions “out of shape” and “Utica Assignment”. 3 years after those words by Desjardins, they were spoken to the press when they shouldn’t have been, that was unprofessional.. it was a designed attempt by a Coach to engage management and gain respect from a player he had no interest in talking to. ... but hey, a lot of us have been treated unfairly,. Some of us just want “the kid” or some one else to experience it himself for humilities sake. A “cup of coffee” isn’t worth the 2 bits it used to be Rob. Sometimes it’s better to make your own, than to wait for it. Tryamkin will return.. and he will be the player on a sad sack D that brings that Unit together..
  4. He still could being a Russian citizen, no? Stawns , I just think that having an NHL Career that goes 3 years or longer, and the possibility of making 3- 4.5m usd per. Out weighs a life long career in the KHL making 750k usd.. in a league with a 13.8m usd team cap, ..he would never, ever make more than 2-3 m usd per year. Renting a Home is a taxable right off as an athlete here, owning a home where the real estate values trend to rise 20% - 30% a year is an investment. He can continue to own what ever he has in Russia. This is all about dreams, aspirations, and desire now.. not his contentment that will come late in a career. He knows he is wanted here. That’s all that matters. Just wish his agent was more motivated to get him back into a Canuck Jersey. Todd Diamond must be from Toronto.
  5. Lots of things changing in the KHL.. first a 900m rubles salary cap (13.8m usd). In the meantime, the size of the box on the Barys Arena is changing from “European” to “Canadian”. That is, from 60x30 to 60x26
  6. Hairy I read another article this week that someone ( a sports journalist) actually got hold of the salary list of Avtomobilist players this season and exposed it. Apparently contracts are very hush hush in the KHL, that is why we probably find little to no substance on KHL player contracts. The article said that there was a huge uproar between management and some players after the report came out.. the first time this has happened in the KHL. update: Found and translated.. 08 June 2019, 00:00 In the current off-season of the KHL the loudest deal — the signing of the contract between the legendary striker Pavel Datsyuk and "Motorist". The winner of the Stanley Cup 2008, Olympic champion 2018 and world champion 2012 returned to his native Yekaterinburg after the expiration of the contract with the St. Petersburg SKA. The signing of the superstar implies further movement of the club to the titles. In 2016, "Motorist" changed its owner and increased its budget, after which it became a serious force in Russian hockey. Last season, Andrey Martemyanov's team won the Eastern conference at the end of the regular season, and for the first time in history they reached the second round of the playoffs. The defeat of "Salavat Yulaev" (1:4 in the series) was a surprise for many. In the spring, the club began construction of a new arena, kept in the team of its main striker Anatoly Golyshev, whose departure to the NHL seemed a matter solved, and lost one of the key specialists of the coaching staff — Nikolai Zavarukhin, who became the mentor of "Siberia". I was pleased with the youth team "Auto", which reached the final of the playoffs of the MHL, where almost beat the star Yaroslavl "Loco", missing the victory in the end of the sixth meeting, and then losing the decisive seventh. In an interview with Izvestia, the Director of Motorist Maxim Ryabkov assessed the past season, commented on the situation with the arena, the contracts of players and changes in the coaching staff. — "Motorist" has become a bright phenomenon in the regular season. Are you satisfied with this season, or the defeat in the series from "Salavat" spoiled the impression? — The President of our club Andrey Kozitsyn has already summed up the results of the season and gave his assessment. It lies in the fact that we are not ashamed of the game and the result that we have shown. But appetite comes with eating. I wanted more, but this is just an excuse for us to work together with the coach, players and club office even harder to achieve higher positions. Last season in terms of the result was the best in the history of "Motorist", but there is a feeling that the potential of the team can count on more. — What about Datsyuk? — We with Paul in good human relations. Many people who are directly related to the "Motorist", are friends with Datsyuk, familiar with him as a native of Yekaterinburg. We have recently talked with him often, mostly on everyday topics. As a result, when it became possible to sign the contract, the negotiations were simple — the usual procedure for such situations. We felt interest of Datsyuk in transition to us, especially in due time he publicly declared desire ever to return to the hometown and the native team. — From the point of view of club PR "Motorist" can be especially happy? — It's not just about that. I would first of all talk about the sports component. We signed a contract with Pavel in order to strengthen the team. We are sure that his experience and professionalism will help "Motorist" to achieve high sports results. And the fact that Datsyuk will attract attention to the club — no doubt. Everyone knows that he is a person and a hockey player of the world scale, a historical figure for hockey. — In November last year, the media published the salaries of the players of "Motorist". The club responded harshly, calling it an information attack. Was it worth the reaction? — This is a violation of the rules of the game — public or private, when there is a publication of the payroll of only one team. Because when in February in the media appeared payroll of other leaders of the KHL, everyone saw that "Motorist" in terms of costs takes the place that we talked about initially — somewhere at the end of the top ten. But the main thing is that at that time the team was able to recover, gather and successfully complete the regular season in the first place in the Eastern conference, which was up to the specified case. So, everything was done by the club in the interests of the team and fans. On this we the incident for themselves have closed. — The incident affected the decline in the results of the "Motorist", which occurred after the November break for Euro tour? — Influenced by the injury of our goalkeeper Kolas Kawarga, who missed six matches, and nothing more. — Andrey Sokolov appeared in the coaching staff of "Motorist". He is invited to replace the departed into "Siberia" Nikolay Zavarukhin? — Yeah. Andrey Sokolov already has experience in our club. And it was in the headquarters of Andrei Martemyanov (in the first coming of Martemyanov as head coach of "Motorist" in the season-2011/12. — «News.)» Then Sokolov left the "Motorist" in "AK bars", was a lot of worthy clubs of the KHL. Last season spent in Chelyabinsk "Tractor". Now he became a member of our staff and will, in particular, be responsible for the well-functioning game in defense. — In recent years, it seemed that the departure of Anatoly Golyshev in the "new York islanders" after the expiration of the contract with the "Motorist" will be inevitable. Was it difficult to negotiate a new four-year agreement with him? — Yes, in the "islanders" very seriously aimed at Anatoly. Up to the point that his agent for North America came to us with a personal order from the owner of the club to negotiate. But in the end, "Motorist" agreed with Golyshev on a new long-term contract. And, as we have already learned from the April interview with Anatoly, our club started talking with him about the extension of the agreement on mutually beneficial terms. Therefore, we are very glad that he stayed in Yekaterinburg and in the coming years will please our fans, not American ones. — If in a couple of years Golyshev decides that he reached the ceiling in the KHL and wants to go to the NHL before the contract expires, will you meet him? — By agreement with Anatoly, this option is present. After two years of contract, if he has a desire, he can go and try himself overseas. But, in case of return to Russia, will be obliged to work out the term which remained under the contract in "Motorist" on already registered in the present contract conditions. — What positions do you plan to strengthen? — There is an understanding who will play for our team in the new season. In principle, the "Motorist" is well equipped, but the selection process is continuous. We will see what interesting options will appear on the market. And on this basis, to make decisions quickly together with our shareholders. — For you became a surprise exit "Auto" in the Kharlamov Cup playoffs, and that team almost won a crucial series, "Loko" with players with experience of playing in the NHL? Our guys did great. But at the same time we know their character, we watch them every day. Therefore, we are confident that they are worthy of the result shown. In their power to reach the final of the Kharlamov Cup and even win it — for the final victory over Loko was not enough just a little bit. It's great that last season was the best for the main team in the KHL, and for the youth in the MHL. The guys deservedly became Vice-Champions of the country. I wish that they and in adult career succeeded at least the same results. — Do any of them have a chance to play in "Motorist" in the next season? — All KHL clubs need limiters. At least for the preparatory period a whole group of guys from "Auto" will be involved in classes with the main team. And then the coaching staff headed by Martemyanov will decide which of them to use in the KHL in the upcoming season. — How are things going with the arena? — Preparing for construction. At the construction site has already begun the first pile work, while trial. — Does the capacity remain the same as originally intended? — Yes, in the hockey configuration it is 12 thousand spectators. In basketball — about 15 thousand and on concerts, conferences, Boxing and single combats — about 18 thousand. — Do you understand when to expect the debut of "Motorist" in the new arena? — We hope that within two and a half years. I would like to start playing in the new arena in the middle of the 2021/22 season.
  7. I don’t think you want to wait to expose either goaltender.. Draisitl for Demko straight.. I think Ken Holland would move on that. then we expose some other wild card secondstring goalie,. .. Bernie Saunders or sumpthin.. (it’s a good goalie name ) Then bring Dipietro into the fold under Markstrom the following year. ps. I really hate this “extortion draft” set up.. can kill teams like ours in the middle of a solid rebuild.. might be time to exchange whomever Seattle wants for future picks & Edler,. hopefully we’re never legitimately in a top ten pick scenario for a while after next season.
  8. I would be happy to keep Edler for 1 more year and then lose him in the expansion draft to Seattle. Move Tanev this Summer at the draft table and then Edler next year to Seattle.. I would be happy to see his contract attractively “set up” for that to happen. Edler should be happy about that because it’s a 1 hr flight between YVR and SeaTac.
  9. A GM would have to be crazy to give up on a player with the size strength speed and agility of Tryamkin. Cheers to JB for staying positive and pragmatic in this situation, where perhaps others would have given up.. not unlike some highly judgmental posters here. Tryamkin has proven enough in 60 games, 2 years ago to keep a fire alive, and get him back here to help him become the best possible hockey player he can be. This type of player is one that other teams salivate to have in their prospect pool. Something to note that I have shared with Hairy Kneel already,. Avtomobilists roster was updated a couple of days ago on Wiki. They list Tryamkin as Captain, N Dawes as Assistant.. perhaps the Captaincy changes to recently acquired Pavel Datsuyk over the next few weeks. From the snip bits I have been reading, they have acquire 2 or 3 new D men. ... but I think Avtomobilist is pushing there capspace , the KHL Cap is 13.8m usd this year.. they are also way over the number of players allowed on their roster. Wonder if there is an opportunity for Tryamkin to leave in this chaos? If they know they are going to lose him at the end of next season, perhaps they mutually come to a buy out, and get some money back for him before he leaves? But a good agent should be all over that. ...and I wonder if Nik comes to the conclusion he is playing in a league for retired NHL Vets? All food for thought. Should be an interesting Summer.
  10. If I’m exaggerating, and your right.. then tell me why Desjardins was fired a year before his contract expired? Im not saying it was JUST his treatment of Tryamkin,. That being, throwing a good prospect under the bus in front of the media with “out of shape comments” and forcing Managment into a meeting with a player that never should have happened. Desjardins was poorly selective. I personally scratched my head over his deployment of players after his first season with us,. And did he not flog our #1 pp into numbness for 2 seasons? Green sees and does things totally differently.. there are no punches.. no throw downs, no omissions... he has a guided hand who matches and challenges players by putting them in different situations to bring out better points of their game. Green gains and gets respect from the way he handles players. Desjardins demanded it, screamed his head off for it in Junior hockey.. now he is back where he can get away with it again.
  11. Something interesting to consider is that if the new salary cap for KHL Teams is aprx. 14m usd,. ... I wonder what Pavel Datsyuk is signing for with Avtomobilist (Tryamkins Team), and how much money is available to sign the players left that they want? Each KHL Team has 25 players on its active roster, and 10 additional players with an affiliate club... makes you wonder how far 14m usd (900m rubles) will go in the KHL. Perhaps a mutual agreement could be reached between Tryamkin and Avtomobilist to mutually cancel his contract if it frees them up around 1m bucks,. Or gives them back with an agreed buyout option? any thoughts @Hairy Kneel? ...any body?
  12. I find it amazing the amount of negative judgement still held on this young man taken from a rookie season of 60 games, in a new league, in a new country, with a foreign language. What Tryamkin showed in his first season here was overwhelmingly positive. He was handcuffed by a disastrous Coach who’s only option was to play Tryamkin due to injuries. Contrary to what Benning wanted, that being Development. Thus the Coach was fired before his contract was finished,. But it should have happened the Christmas before. What Tryamkin did show was that he deserved better, this whole AHL stint/refusal was a sham designed by Desjardins to create a respect on demand. Desjardins forced managements hand with out of shape comments.. that laundry would never have been aired by a true professional. Good to see WD is back in non professional Junior Hockey.. screaming his lungs out at kids who play only for a Dream. .. back to the level he knows best. Hopefully his future is somewhere in Siberia.
  13. Just posting this for schlitz & giggles... to my calculations 900 million rubles converts to 13,851,000.00 usd.

  16. Tanev... quickly,.. he is turning into dust . Like Sutter.
  17. Ps... hoping we land Philip Broberg at the draft.
  18. It’s going to be an interesting Summer regarding our D core. I really want to see Schenn Re-sign. Could be he is really a late bloomer. He played so well for us.
  19. He is eligible to play for the Canucks once his KHL Team has finished its season. I beleive a typical KHL regular season runs from September until mid February.. His Team , Avtomobilist, by all accounts is tearing down there roster this season.. apart from a recent signing of Pavel Datsyuk .. lol. At least Nik will be playing with a great player, hopeful someone who will inspire him to take his career to North America, and be the best man he can.
  20. Correct, next to null, 18 month notice is asked by the KHL Team. But.. a KHL team can void a contract at any time if a mutual understanding is agreed. The Canucks hold his rights until 2021/ 22 I beleive?.. someone please correct be if im wrong.
  21. He will be an absolute Beast when he gets here.. this Team and Coach will motivate him to bring his personal best and he will create his own identity.
  22. This also from today,. Diamond talks more about Tryamkin..
