Even if we make the playoffs Boud's, I would put more emphasis on making the Team better for next Season and beyond
-
Willy = Dick This man can not even develop a high ranking prospect.
-
Tryamkin's first season in the NHL. Has so much more game to him,. possibly the most exciting new player we have. .. and I will dare to say.. I see a future Norris candidate in his defensive play.

Hamhuis said he didn't want to move before he came up with 3 teams he would be open to move to 2 weeks before the deadline. If a player has a NTC or NM contract, you would think that the player approaches management first.. it's the same as being an upcoming UFA.. I'm sure that If Hamhuis would walked into JBs office in January and said " Jim , the Canucks have given me a great contract here for the last 5 years, I'm hoping I can return a favour? Perhaps if you find a team to move me to that needs playoff help,. and you get a good return,. I would really like to return to the Canucks and you as a UFA" "Just want to be a good hockey player and Buisness man to yo Jim" .. " Lets keep in touch" . If your a professional hockey player,. You are obligated to be a professional in every aspect of the game or its Buisness. Hamhuis failed the team in this regard. Just because Benning has openly said that he will not approach players with a NM or NTC,. does not mean that a player can not be outstanding in his own approach to this game and the Buisness of it.. after all, it's his contract. ... Hamhuis's lack of flexibility and poor Buisness, may have been the reason he did not return.

Great Junior B Hockey in this province.
-
.. I see he is 29 next year.. what a solid gritty vet to have with our young core.. I say bring him home.
-
Isn't Alzner an old BC boy? Think he is Richmond Sockeye Alumini? ... just checked,.. yes and yes. 29 years old next year.. solid vet.. bring him home Boud's

Nik would create chaos and puck time for Bo and Sven anytime a puck would be close to the crease.. Stetcher and Granlund love to shoot. It's a no brainer,. and a chance for our younger core to develop and create chemistry.
-
Hope to see a few of their skaters left standing upright looking like bobbleheads Alf Our luck lustre PP has me shaking my head wondering why Nik is not used on it in front of the net. ... just for the hell of it.. how about: Bartschi Horvat & Nik up front, with Stetcher and Granlund on the point? nothing to lose.
-
Solid game last night against the Ducks for Nik. Back to back against the Oilers tonite,. Nik is sure to frustrate some on the Edmonton club, maybe see a little more snarl .
-
I don't think we should protect Edler if we have him available to expose for expansion.. if we lose him, then with his capspace and Burrows expiring contract. We have room to sign Gudbranson again.. and then some. I have really liked Biegga and his all or nothing game. He is fearless, wish others would play with his mindset. His low Center of gravity keeps him in tight quarters on moves by Gaudreau and others his own size. I would prefer to keep Biegga for 1.5-2m a year over keeping Edler and his remaining contract... unless he re-establishes himself as the gritty, wide eyed, intelligent D man he was a couple of years ago.

Agree Hairy, I think at the same time Nik is learning the finer points of his Pro game, he will find that simplifying it gives him more time to react. Easy for some here to pick apart his game, but at the same time it's easy to see Nik is picking apart his own game himself.. love this kid.. a player with the potential to be painted into the rafters with Ohlund. His offensive capabilities are untapped right now, his balanced skating and rushing speed accompanied by 250lbs may prove to be a special play once forwards (and a coach) recognize what he is trying to do. I also want to see him on the pp soon, he was utilized with success this way in the KHL.. he would look even more tremendous on the pp in the NHL due to the closer contact in front of the crease. Nik will bring the attention of 2 d men and break down the "box" defence quickly, something this team has not been able to do since our greater days with Bertuzzi.

I think even Tortarella would have been more aggressive in his approach. Not much of a fire from WD,. passive with vets, and looking for template, safe play rookies to ice, rather than challenging all of them. Maybe that's where he is different.. Just because your players are all "pro's" doesn't mean you drop the reigns and take the spur's off.. The trail from the barn to the barnyard is well worn, but if you want to get to higher ground, you ride the horse or it becomes a one trick pony.

This team should be a 500. Hockey Club.. even with the players who have replaced injured vets.. Same Coach, Same Systems, nothing changes, . That is mediocre hockey. I'm Witnessing young players develop,. But not witnessing a Coach become a tactical, enthusiastic "chess player" .. Even in his post game comments, he is analytical about players, and "we" the team,. But never critical about his own decision making with line ups, ice time, special team players, call ups getting a look.. ect. JR and Lock,. You've both stated we haven't had the personnel or players to drive this team forward. Well, With or without injuries, this is where a Coach develops them, because when those expectations are low, the test is for a Coach to come up with something undiscovered.. not hang the game on the players who are playing the Coaches system.
-
... losing Willie Dejardins would help a lot.
-
Maybe the Sedin's need some young blood ..
-
.. and the sky is falling again so let's blame it on our D core. .. not the systems,. and definitely not the lack of scoring from our forwards. Yes, let's rip our young, D end.. our forwards aren't doing anything anyway. Christ you guys,. time for new Denta-Creme or what?
-
Hard to believe this kid is 22 yrs old.. that's like dressing him after his final year of Junior. His mean edge will come, something I'm sure he will work on next Summer after this first full year in the NHL. Lidster needs to get Nik and Eric practicing there one timers, that's all they're lacking.

Hope to one day see EG and NT holding Stanley 10 ft high !
-
Didn't see much of Martin after the tilt... Martin must feel like a piece of meat playing for them. Happy to have EG. Hope he stays with us, our D core and goal tending is the only thing giving us a chance these days.
-
... only because we have no front end to talk about.
-
Gudbranson is young,. has been paired off with sophomores or rookies all season,. Pair Tanev off with Guds partners, see what you get.
-
Gudbranson is leading the Canucks in hits, 40 something on this NHL Leaderboard, Tryamkin is 2nd for Canucks and 70th on the NHL leaderboard. ps. Can't find Mcann on it https://www.sportingcharts.com/nhl/stats/player-hits-statistics/2016/
-
According to this page Tryamkin is ahead of Edler and Sbisa for hits. https://www.sportingcharts.com/nhl/stats/player-hits-statistics/2016/ ps. Gudbranson ahead of Tryamkin, ahead of Sbisa, ahead of Edler.

I agree Rocks, nice to see a proper development system now being set up with the age and talent line up for our D end.. and like you say, allowing the waiver/call up allowances used constructively.
