Dropping to one knee might be the move to make Boudrias, at least his goaltender has the chance to see over him and the play or shot to be made. It also covers his own huge 5 hole gap created if he was standing, and blocking the goalies vision.
In any clips I've seen of him in the KHL, he has had this move, but on the larger ice surface its less effective in the D zone because the play around the net is not as compressed, and their is more gap on player coverage.
I don't mind the knee drop, it takes away the bottom half of the net +, and makes the shooter or passer think twice about the puck changeing the timing for coverage elsewhere. As you said, he does get up quick. Powerful young man, getting better every week.
Any idea of his hit ratio? Last I heard it was something like 30 hits in 8 games.
