  1. Easy to say that at first glance TP.. But Naslund didn't really come to having much confidence in the NHL until he was 24 ish. Even after putting up great numbers in the minors. I see Granlund along those same lines. Naslund did not start on the first or second line when he came to Vancouver,. and it was actually Pat Quinn who installed confidence in him from the 4th and 3rd line- up. We basically got Naslund for less a player than Shinkarick . I see Granlund skating, playmaking and back checking far better than Naslund when he arrived. Of course, you had to be lucky enough to have been alive at that time to witness it.. Maybe you weren't?
  2. Granlund ,. Possibly Naslund 2.0 ?? http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=132220 http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=3912
  3. I think Larsen has played very well, and by the end of this month will be working exceptionally for us on all special teams as well. Tryamkin NEEDS to be dressed, we are going into week 2 of the season.. all players need to be getting their game legs and feeling like they are part of the club.. Skille included.
  4. .. Think I read Weber got a 25 hundred dollar fine.. That's 2,500.oo people on here saying Virtanen should get 50 thousand! If he goes down to the AHL that's about half of his income for the year. Whats missing in the Videos I've seen, but you can kind of make it out, is Nordstrom trying to grab Jakes leg with his left arm as Nordstrom slides into the boards. Virtanen is actually defending himself from being tripped into the boards by Nordstrom. Virtanen slaps at Nordstrom to distract and divert his attention away from his leg. In "lay man's terms".. F off, don't do that, slap.
  5. .. this is not comparable to Jake's push off.
  6. 2 or 3 times in a position to power out of the corner, and did. I recall a shift in the 1st around the 16:00 min mark.
  7. .. Weight Class for hockey! Bobby Farnham will sign up for sure. ps. Nordstrom runs around 190, 200 soaking wet.
  8. ... Every team has players that play on that edge. Could be that Jake put his hand down trying to keep Nordstrom off balance,. Nordstrom was in a position where he could have retaliated on the initial hit from Jake and taken his knees out into the boards. Jake, HAS TO look after himself. the head slap was nothing.. If the Canucks don't carry an "air" of meanness, we will get destroyed this year again.
  9. Cheers Boudrias.. I was lucky enough to watch Jake play a lot in Major Midget, and Junior. Once this young man grows into his prime, his shot, soft hands and power game will be with the leagues best. As much as I know it would not hurt to move him to the Comets, he is contributing here with the Canucks. Maybe we have the luxury of send Jake down for 10 and then up for 10? Skille can fill that hole if someone like LaBate or Zalewiski could work into a rotation as well. Either way, great depth this year, it will help us this season.
  10. Vintage,. Can you get into the player discussion thread and start one for Philip Larsen?  It seems to have been overlooked, and we regular mooks can't start a topic there.

    cheers boss.

  11. He is coming to form quicker than I anticipate. Started to watch the clips from his KHL games when we got his rights from the Oilers. He was never given a fair turn in the Oilers whirlpool of poor management and staff. Larsen did the right thing by going to the KHL,. The bigger surface gave him the time and space to work on his game,. His puck skills are superb for a D man, his skating is well above average, his shot is quickly released and he doesn't hesitate to use it. I thought he would have made the adjustment to NA Ice by mid November. But he has adjusted already, he's here to stay,. and will look primo by the end of the month.
  12. Touch of a mean streak in development
  13. Tonight I think Jake is actually showing glimpses of a young Bert, when he played for the Islanders.
  14. I think New additions Gudbranson and Larsen already have more shots on goal than Weber and Bartowski all last season.
  15. I'm not a WD fan. But he as stated in the past that he likes to completely role 4 lines. This year they are trying to balance out that power to do so. The new looking D core should help that game plan. I look forward to seeing TOI shared throughout the team, this usually lifts total team chemistry, and everybody is on the same page .
  16. Versatility. and a great shared wealth of special team players. The trickle of better players into the 3-4 lines will only make all players better, and times on ice more evenly spread. Our schedule is never a fair one.
  17. Hairy... SiZe does matter! No more repetitive hits to Tanev, or the likes of Weber, Hamhuis. we have the line ups to answer to that play.
  18. Kids got a great sense of humor, I'm sure his game speed will be good by the end of October. Nice that with Tryamkin, our D core becomes dimensional.. we can dress a solid d core for physical teams, and a solid d core for more finess. I think the interchangeability of Larsen and Tryamkin support that. when asked about being sent to the minors or in his case, back to KHL, doesn't sound like he wanted to discuss it. I wonder if he was asked to go back to the KHL, he himself may have had a change of heart about playing in the AHL, on the smaller surface? He did comment about the physical play and the ice size. Regardless, there is much to admire about this young mans game,. And we get to witness it evolve. Hope to see him in against the Flames for a physical
  19. Hutton is possibly a Canuck for life.. Kid is full game, full package.
  20. Tryamkin is looking stronger every game.. Every forward is playing as though they are 6inches taller because of the physical strength, speed and skill upgrade on defence. Fun times ahead
  21. Edler looks good tonight, I'm sure it's refreshing not to be playing stacked mins, .. Playing with a bit of that Prowess again.
  22. Heard Sutter was giving up #21 to Eriksson, and will wear #20... Hopefully not too many fans bought a Sutter Jersey last year
  23. Was watching some great chemistry between the 3 today in the game vs Team Europe.. The 3 were even cycling an impressive forecheck and creating tons of pressure without the puck. we may have something truly special to watch right out of the gate this season. #Fluid
  24. If they are "punks" like Hendricks and Bobby Farnham, ..Yes.. size does not matter when your a puke who drills players to injure them purposely. Im hopeful that George Parros will bring his knowledge and experiences of the game to expose and end the trend and era of the "punk". The league is ridding itself of the "goon", but has overlooked the role of the "punk".. perhaps even more dangerous to player safety.
