  1. Hopefully Grenier does a wallet check too.
  2. .... Just to note, I seem to recall, he had his first team practice after traveling for 20hr and after landing in Vancouver at 4am,. Immediately made the 6am practice. of course our local media made less of his travel and determination... And more of his fatigue in practice.
  3. ... Maybe "Dirty Harry" or "Jose Wales" would be a good nic-name for E.G. Alf?
  4. Will be nice to see Gudbranson poseing for a pic like that in the blue green and white,. a grin that is pure Valhalla. Heard Tryamkin is apparently in great shape too, also heard Pedan was training in Vancouver this Summer... We could have quite a good clan this fall. Looking forward to it.
  5. You were running the pp on that thread DeNiro :) (next assistant coach)..

Stealth can be a bit of a control freak I think,.  Could have helped a brother put "discussion" in (brackets), instead of shutting him down for lack of substance... On the contrary, I think your knowledge brought a lot of substance to the discussion.

have a good night, and a great week. SS.

  6. ... History between Lamorillo and Horvat helps,. and to swap 2 centres makes sense .. Exciting times
  7. Although I'm a fan of every Comet and Canuck, I could see our 5th pick, Demko, .. and 1 of the following, Biegga, Pedan, Subban, or the rights to Larssen. Just sayin I would love to see the media in TO unravel on a trade down
  8. With Lamorillo , I think anything can happen.. and it's possible, Our 5th, Demko, hmmm.. Should be a good weekend
  9. Toronto might be ecstatic, but Realistically, TO has no goaltending, and they risk flogging Mathews the same as Hall, Eberle, RNH, Yakapov, McDavid, and others to high minutes against men who do not care who they are, finishing a check is finishing a check. Toronto is not in a position to groom young talent, without a core of great vets, which has been a bigger part of the Oilers Failure. Lamorillo is Lamorillo
  10. What if he was in a deal for Mathews?? Lamorillo historically likes to build from his goaltending and Defence, I don't think it should be overlooked.
  11. ... Ehhh,. Not really.
  12. Yes, .. It's what makes the NBA and NFL Draft Days much more exciting,. less emphasis on a young players potential and possibilities.. More emphasis on a players proof of talent as an adult . sorry, we kinda went off topic,. Tryamkin does look like a beauty though,. took charge of his own path and made some money before getting here too
  13. Totally agree with you Bob, I think that Junior Hockey in Canada should raise its age grouping, and become semi-pro, or affiliate with Canadian Universities, sort of like the NCAA template. Hockey in this Country would be Stronger for it,. And at the Pro Level, the benefits of drafting a almost fully developed 22-23 year old almost guarantees a player that can instantly help an organization, rather than crossing fingers on a developing younger one.
  14. Hairy,. Have you ever seen a hockey city and its fan base so hard on 19-20-21 year olds? Kids like Hutton, Tryamkin, and Pedan (104mph slap shot) won't be fully developed until they are 25-26 yrs old,. as in the case of Z.Chara,. Or even our own Tanev. Anything we get now, while they come into their prime, is a bonus. Tryamkin will be a monster for us at 25.. But the ride with him to that point is proving to be an exciting one already. Like you Hairy,. I really dislike the pessimism generated towards young growing, talented athletes here on CDC,. It's like telling your 12 year old son that he going to amount nothing more than a garbage man in life. If Talent is recognized,. And it gets to develop and generate,. there is no ceiling, and no expectations with every opportunity granted.. Just the chance to succeed and exceed. That was one of the coolest things about a young player who came to Vancouver, the fact we knew nothing about Pavel Bure,. We had no expectations. . . We knew very little about that young man, and he knew nothing of hockey in North America. There is an element to surprise, that will bring anyone to their feet,. and it begins without expectation. Hopefully all our young talent on the Canucks get every opportunity to surprise us. Maybe giving full opportunity, should be the only expectation.
  15. This is where the game needs to leave a systematic approach and let creativity and trust of all players take over. Heya Stierlitz, I think Demko just signed !
  16. He's still growing,. the detail to training and nutrition here will prove to be exceptional for Nik. He is presently listed at 227 lbs,. My guess is that he will lean out around 25 years old to be around 235- 240 lbs and 30 - 40% stronger. Nik already skates so well,. But watch that get faster, and formidable . He has great offensive tendencies,. Likes to support his forwards quickly.. Hope to see him handed the puck at the Center line in full stride next year. The sooner his forwards work with his tendencies and let him overlap their position, the closer we are to seeing his complete game.
  17. Can we start a thread for Drew (mynameisdrew)? 1. Drew skates with his head down, kinda similar to Stoner skating into Byfuglien last week.
  18. Yes, it is a bit concerning,. Pedan is a gem too,. He just needs to be worked and given full forgiveness to make mistakes in order to make the corrections he needs to. Pedan will also be a force for us, especially if given the opportunity to use that shot in the right situations. It's WD and Lidster who need to take take the kid gloves off in this situation,. Not Pedan,. He is game to prove himself and needs the green light.
  19. Absolutely love this YOUNG man's game.. He has adapted to the NA Ice size in short time. Around the 6:50 mark of the 3rd period tonight he put the "head fake hit" on Hossa, Hossa completely opened up and backed off the puck. And Shaw didn't know what nailed him down to the crusty crease ice. Looks like Nik will be working on "Beast Mode" next He looked great on that pp in front of the net,. Have NO idea why WD took him off after that short shift? IMO Nik has made the club next year,. He surpasses what Chara could play like at 22. Nik is here to create a long lasting career of his own, and I'm sure some of the hockey we will see from him will be legendary itself.
  20. I think the speed he travels for his size is very intimidating,. Seen a few times now where opposing players mishandle the puck as he closes the gap. And you can crank him up on some of that 454 HorsePower Coffee too !
  21. Surely there is s Sushi Restaurant close to the rink in Vancouver that would throw him meal vouchers to persuade him to train here over the Summer ?
  22. Caught that too Steirlitz,. Really hope they give him the "green light" over the weekend.. Let him extend himself into making mistakes so that he can watch himself in the video room. It will give him the full perspective of understanding the counter attack on the smaller ice.. but even in the few instances he has jumped up,. He was fully aware that there was a forward able to switch position.. this may be more of a lesson for the forwards he plays with than the Big Ram himself. would dearly love to see him going over center ice at full tilt.. He would be hard to stop ans very hard to take the puck from.
  23. .... Well, Well, Those look like chopsticks with a monster grip on some WEST COAST Sushi !! My guess is Nikita will be training here all Summer
  24. Anything is possible,. Especially on Draft Day. I say Tanev because he has value,. A value that might qualify us for a better return.. and the rare " moveable contract". unfortunately after 4 years pro, I think CT's game has peaked. He is good, but He is becoming a target for the dump and chase to his side of the ice,. And lately that wear and tear is showing on him. Really would like to see him add some mass to his frame,. At least for his own protection. I think a move to the Islanders for Hamonic, or home to Toronto for a Draft Day upgrade is not unlikely. im sure we won't agree on this Weasel,. But any team rearranging it's Team, has every name available to move on its chalk board.
  25. I think Larsen will raise a lot of eyebrows this next season.. He WANTS to be here.. His game is confident. Id like to see the likes of a Hamonic, Shattenkirk, or Gudbranson added to our D roster.. Unfortunately I think it's the likes of Tanev, or Edler that moves. If Tanev could put on 15 to 20lbs this Summer his game would add that last dimension it needs.. And if Edler would watch old hilites of himself playing fearlessly,. the real Alex would be a keeper.
