  1. It would be really nice to see Goldy, but if Sutter is out for a while, top scoring winger is not exactly the role that needs to be filled.
  2. The point is, even if EP plays left wing for the Canucks and bumps Baer down to the third line, having such depth of talent that a Kessel (or a Baer) is playing on your third line is not exactly a recipe for disaster.
  3. Exactly. BMo wasn't elite or big but since Bert and Nazzy were elite, and Bert was huge, that line worked just fine.
  4. How much of a problem was it for the Pens when Kessel was playing 3LW on Bones line when they won a Cup?
  5. Or maybe he is being completely honest and is just sharing his knowledge with us. I guess we'll see when Goldy gets a call up.
  6. Sounds very much like he does expect to return to Vancouver at the end of his contract, if he and the Canucks can agree on terms.
  7. Excellent post. It is unfortunate that the tankers (like the one you responded to) will choose to ignore these obviously relevant facts since they conflict with the tanking agenda.
  8. And all of a sudden, with 6 points in 9 games, his production is not looking all that bad. Go Loui!
  9. I heard he has strep throat. Not great, but certainly better than mono.
  10. So what is it with this kid - is he too lazy to score except when his team really needs it? I guess I could live with that. LOL
  11. Sure hope you're right and that he/his agent insisted on an NHL out clause in his contract.
  12. Brock's feet aren't the fastest, so it's really nice that his hands and his brain are blazingly fast. It's just as well, because if his skating was as fast as his hands and his brain, there would be no chance in the world he would have been available to us at 23rd.
  13. Not denying the possibility of going to the KHL I would see as just choosing to not throw away negotiating leverage with the Canucks. Keeping in contact with "the defector" I see as a big plus, increasing the chances of getting Tram back here. Not sure what you're "eeping" about.
  14. Closer to home, Brendan Morrison centered a pretty good line back in the day and he wasn't a top end first line centre. If you're not spending 10 million bucks for the centre, you can afford better wingers. If you do have a line with 3 top end first line players, that line gets real expensive real fast, unless you are lucky and smart enough to be able to lock them all into long term contracts just when they start to blossom. And then they do continue to blossom.
  15. One or two more consecutive losses along with one or two more games with no points for Jake, and they will be back. He'll never be likely to match Ehler's production (at least in the regular season), so some will never give up on hating on him.
  16. I like the way Biega hits, but Jake's hits can be devastating. While Jake still has areas of his game that need work, I don't think hitting is really one of them.
  17. You're not supposed to notice that the straw men are made of straw. You're supposed to stand up and fight them.
  18. Hopefully dreaming about yaughts and homes in various luxury cities around the world and studying English.
  19. Karlsson may be the best offensive Dman in the world. Defensively, not so much. Tram is several years younger, is continuing to improve, has dimensions that Karlsson doesn't have, and his age fits better into the age range of the Canucks best young players/prospects.
  20. Last time we did that was when we got the two best players in the draft, the twins. That was a long time ago, I think it's our turn again. Go EP!
  21. Yeah, I would say Karlsson's d-zone coverage can be bad. His minus-6 in one game just set an all-time record for the team. Given the choice between having him or Tram right now, at their current ages, I think I would choose Tram.
  22. Yeah, if Calgary throws in a second round pick along with Sam, we finally get back that pick we wasted on that smurf Baer! Lol. But I agree, I, too, don't remember being this excited about a prospect since Bure. When EP gets his weight up to 175-180, with his skill and tenacity I think he will be ready for the NHL. Hopefully next season.
  23. So you are saying that he is disruptive and a thief. Doesn't sound like the kind of character we want on this team. Maybe we could trade him to Calgary for 18-year-old Sam.
  24. He was mainly an offensive Dman when he was young, but he turned 27 this summer, which is about when many Dmen hit their prime and their games become more complete. Also, maybe he is tired of teams giving up on him. The team that drafted him traded him, then his next two teams let him go when his contracts ended. Those could have been wake up calls for him. Whatever the reasons for his improved defensive play, I am happy to have him in Vancouver.
