FWIW Jake's AHL PPG is way better than Horvat's. And Bo seems to have managed to overcome his poor Utica point production.

Absolutely. Considering the very short length of most NHL careers, a player would need to really hate the team that drafted him, or be really stupid, to give up one or two or three years of that career/income to wait until he's a free agent and sign elsewhere.

When Bo was drafted, he was acknowledged to be strong on his skates, but one report stated that his "top end" speed needed improvement, while another report described the deficiency as being in his "straight ahead" speed. But I agree with you about Brock. While I would be happy to see some improvement in his skating, it appears to be good enough for the NHL, especially considering his hockey smarts. And I, too, believe that unless he regresses badly, he doesn't need any AHL time. I expect him to produce about 10% of the Canucks goals next year.

You repeatedly used the word "teenager". Brock is not a teenager. He is 20 and very mature for his age. He has already spent years developing his game at the university level, playing against men in their early 20s. Using a "one size fits all" cookie cutter method of developing players is unreasonable. In Brock's limited time in the NHL he demonstrated NHL level skills and responsibility, and led the team in goal scoring. Forcing him to play in the AHL for one tenth of the money he deserves, even though he is clearly NHL-ready, especially when his family needs the money, is quite likely to alienate him. That is not a smart way to deal with an extremely valuable prospect.

I don't really disagree, but I do remember a California road trip a couple of years ago when the Canucks tried that and spent much of the road trip playing 3 on 5. That strategy works much better when you are one of Buttman's favoured teams.

3 scoring lines and one checking line is an idea I could get behind. Ideally with at least one of the scoring lines being a 2 way line. I think the 5 minute per game crash and bang 4th line is as outdated as the dedicated enforcer.
