Most likely they kept ratboy because they recognized his potential. A really obnoxious, annoying player like that with his skill level is a pretty rare, valuable asset. Maybe Keith's kid will get to that level, but he has a way to go yet.

Well, you are certainly not a Canucks fan. You are apparently here for the sole purpose of trolling Canucks fans. Have you ever said anything positive about ANY member of the Canucks organization? You drool so much over Nylander that you seem to be sitting in a puddle of Maple Leaf flavoured slime.

I guess you don't remember when the twins were newer in the league. Their first couple of years they were very slow. Then one off season they must have spent some serious time and effort working on their skating because they came to camp much better skaters. Now they have slowed again due to age, but through their prime they were average NHL skaters. Horvat did the same thing, making a dramatic improvement in his skating, except he was able to improve from slow to quick. I see no reason why Brock can't do the same. He's not likely to give Jake much competition, but I don't think he is incapable of improving. I suspect that when the team tells him what he should work on this summer, skating will be at the top of the list, and I won't be at all surprised if he comes back a noticeably better skater.

Looks like he is trying to bait you into calling him a troll so he can report you to the mods. Some of the more childish trolls play games like that.
-
Yeah, we've all been waiting for Pedan. But if Green doesn't think he's good enough to dress every game for the Comets, what are the chances of him being NHL quality?
-
And I don't understand the need to constantly discuss them in order to put Jake (and JB) down. They were my top 2 choices, but they are not Canucks. This is CDC, not MLDC or JDC. If you want to drool over those players, those other sites would be more appropriate venues.

True. I remember an interview with Brett Hull years ago. He said he had become a 40 goal scorer in the NHL and was happy with his play, as would many 40 goal scorers. A coach told him that he had the potential to be much better than that and lit a fire under his butt. Without that coach, there's a good chance that we would never have seen the 80 goal supersniper he became.
-
Ok. Well, based on right now, I don't think he is strong enough to play in the NHL, so I guess he should consider a different career. Lol.
-
Actually I don't agree with you guys. As I stated, I think it's too early to decide where OJ plays next season.
-
Then how about if I misread some posts and then start an argument with someone who actually agrees with me. Would that be ok? Lol.
-
No, you were arguing. Am I allowed to comment?
-
You guys sure argue a lot for 2 people who actually agree.
-
I think we need to see how he looks in camp in the fall. There is not much point in arguing right now about what this (extremely smart) teenager will be like half a year from now. Raise your hands everybody who knew half a year before they first put on NHL uniforms that Hutton and Stecher would be able to step right into the NHL the way they did. Or that Poolparty and Dubois wouldn't.
-
Yeah, if I had to pick one tough guy from Canucks history, it would be Brash. I don't remember ever seeing him lose a fight. But replacing all those guys with guys like Gino and Crowder and Dana would make the team significantly slower and not more competitive. And Chaput, Skille and Megna imo are just temporary placeholders until the young prospects are ready for prime time. I don't really think they are part of the final plans for the team, any more than several enforcers would be.

Yes, I know Wild Thing was a better fighter than Dorsett, he was almost like Rypper. He wasn't big enough to take on the heavyweights of the time, but to be honest, I wouldn't mind having him in the Canuck lineup now, because he was also not that bad a player. But the other tough guys, Gino, Brash and Crowder, weren't skilled/quick enough to justify a lineup spot in today's NHL. Adding guys like that might protect the Canucks skilled players, but wouldn't necessarily help to win any more games.
-
You missed the point. Of those players listed from the 20 years ago Canucks lineup, Walker was smaller than Dorsett and was consequently just as much of a deterrent. The other 4 players, while big and tough, scored a TOTAL of 37 points COMBINED that year. Anyone who thinks that adding several big tough players to the lineup with that level of productivity would help the Canucks win more games in today's NHL is deluded.
-
Yes, there was some toughness in that lineup. And how many games did they win?
-
You seem to want to be willfully obtuse. Enjoy your ignorance.
-
That post you are responding to seems pretty straightforward. Not sure what you are having trouble following. He wants top six quality speed and skill, along with enough size and physicality to provide pushback/be difficult to play against. And the "stick at it" refers to picking up more players like Kass and Jake who have the potential to provide all of those attributes. No contradiction that I can see.
-
At the very least he ALLOWED them to develop. Can you imagine how well the kids would have developed with someone like Torts screaming at them and giving them no ice time at all?
-
There is no chance that JB is simpleminded enough to expose Sutter. He is far too valuable, regardless of what you think about his contract.
-
I imagine you're right that JB is trying to get Brock to sign an ATO. Most likely that would be better in the long run for the Canucks than burning a year off his ELC, and certainly the Comets need him more this year than the Canucks do. And I'm sure that your opinion has nothing to do with you wanting to see Brock in a Comets uniform just as much as many of us want to see him in a Canucks uniform. Lol.
-
Yeah, I'm sure he doesn't want to start thinking about collecting an NHL paycheque starting next week, making more money every week than many people make in a year. And getting a signing bonus big enough to buy a cheap home or a really nice car. I imagine he wants to savour the loss for a while. Lol.
-
Yeah, and their buddy the crypt keeper was also contributing to the ignorance. He was calling Goldie's flu food poisoning, and blaming the Canucks. Listening to that morning show is just like reading the mindless drivel the Canucks haters dump all over this forum. At least those media jackals don't pretend to be Canucks fans the way the ones here do.

So better that all of CDC should be the cesspool of negativity that it has become? It is now impossible to visit any thread without being exposed to an endless string of hating posts.
