For those of you who believe that Willie is damaging Goldie's confidence, consider this: his previous team owned his rights for three quarters of this season. They gave him a total of TWO NHL games, in which he scored zero points. He has been a Canuck for a few days now. Willie put him in the lineup as soon as he legally could, and rather than sticking him with scrubs on the fourth line, gave him good quality reliable linemates to both help and shelter him. And then he scored a goal which turned out to be the game winner. If this has left him feeling insecure or upset at the coach, he has a serious attitude problem. But I doubt very much if that is the case. I suspect that he is sitting on top of the world right now, and has no negative feelings at all about Willie.

Agree with most of this. But don't agree that Bo is being shorted on ice time for Henrik's benefit. Bo is now getting more ice time than Henrik does and has arguably better wingers. Bo is now our number one centre.
-
I don't think there is a chance in the world that Goldie's confidence is shaken right now. He played 6 minutes and scored a game winning goal. I bet he's just itching to get back on the ice to do it again.

Demko seems to play better when he is the man. Wasn't his hot streak earlier this year when he was temporarily the number one?
-
Considering that he hasn't practiced with the team and doesn't know the systems or his teammates, it's not surprising that he didn't have much ice time. The third period was mostly a defensive period, so I wouldn't really expect to see him out there. Could be that after his goal Willie decided to make sure that Goldie's first game as a Canuck left him feeling confident and hungry for more. The way Willie brought in Bo, Baer, Tram, Stecher, etc., doesn't seem to have harmed their development. I don't imagine he's damaging Goldie's either.
-
Could just mean that his hockey skills are better than his English skills. Like Tram. I am hoping that it means he is so good that he knows describing his game would sound arrogant, so he would prefer to let his play speak for itself. I am also hoping that's what we see tonight.

To some of the posters here that makes you a worn out dinosaur. You need to be traded for a draft pick.
-
I hope it's nothing serious. A mild case of food poisoning/24 hour stomach bug has my vote.
-
That is what a fan says. What a troll says is: "All the other players they could have taken are better. JB was stupid for picking him. Aquaman was greedy for making him do it. WD screwed up his development because he's incompetent. All his linemates and teammates didn't help because they are useless too. The kid's a bust who will never be any good. Anyone who likes him is a stupid homer fanboy. I'm a "realistic" fan. That's why I hate every member of the Canucks organization."
-
Atta boy. Don't let anyone mistake you for a Canucks fan.
-
Yeah, I wanted Ehlers too, but Jake is who we got. If you want to drool over Ehlers, why don't you go to the Jets board and do it there.
-
Likewise. Nice thing about a kid like this that you trade for is that we only have to wait days to see him play in the NHL, rather than the years we have to wait for the draft picks.
-
Well, the price was certainly right. Even if it is just to replenish the Utica depth. The fact that the Canucks had competition over this kid is a positive sign.
-
Well then it wasn't really unnecessary, if there was a reason for it. Sounds plausible to me.
-
I think it was just a paper transaction to make him available for the AHL playoffs. He didn't really go anywhere.
-
I seem to remember that Hutton was available for the AHL playoffs but Green chose not to use him. Which struck me as strange when Hutton came to training camp a few months later and blew everyone away with his play.
-
I love this kid's vision. When he passes, it seems like he can see where everyone is on the whole ice surface without moving his head. And he hits the tape with those passes.
-
True. But I don't think it will make any difference, after one or more Kassian > Eager type career ending clobberings. Nobody's going to care whether he's doing it for fun or duty. They just won't want it happening to them.
-
True. Kinda like Juice. Early in his career he fought regularly, demolishing pretty well everyone who took him on. But from the middle of his career onward, he hardly fought at all, because nobody was stupid enough to face him. With Tram's size and strength, like you say, one good KO and it will be pretty tough to find any player willing to take him on.
-
That's not a nice thing to say. That may be where he is now, but maybe he's just a late bloomer. Lol.
-
Yeah, I like having Tram, Guddy and Stecher all in the lineup. We need both size and skill. Not that Tram is one dimensional; he is starting to show some pretty nice offensive skills.
-
Sounds like he is starting to get more comfortable. Hopefully he'll get back in a groove and keep lighting it up, prior to signing a contract and donning a Comets/Canucks uniform.
-
Yeah, I would have to say that at this point Guddy doesn't look like a home run for a third overall. So far he looks something like Torres (5th overall) - a useful player, especially in the playoffs, but somewhat underwhelming for his draft position. But Guddy is still half a decade away from the age when most Dmen peak, so assuming that he won't get any better wouldn't be very reasonable.

What is successful would depend on where he was drafted. I would say that a late round pick who plays 200 NHL games would be a successful pick even if he was just a depth player, a number 13 forward or a number 7 Dman. A top 3 pick, on the other hand, would need to be much better than that to be considered a success.

Yeah, a lot of posters seem to be completely oblivious towards their own contradictions. Like the clown who is "happy" that we have OJ, but feels that JB was "dumb" to pick him.
