While I don't really expect him to make the team next season, stranger things have happened. It all depends on how he continues to develop in the second half of this season and over the summer. His high hockey IQ certainly gives him a chance to be next year's Hutton/Stecher.
-
I imagine if he was capable of doing anything more productive, he would. For some people, annoying as many other people as possible is as good as it gets.
-
I agree. Another thing I like about Gaunce's game is the fact that he is good at stealing pucks. A sign of good hands, quickness, and good hockey IQ.
-
My apologies. I thought you were a troll. But this post is so ridiculous that I may need to reconsider. Anyone who believes that they know the ceiling of an eighteen year old defensemen is more likely to be a simpleton. And I certainly hope that OJ doesn't turn into an Ehrhoff, who was good offensively but brutal defensively. I think OJ is probably already better defensively than Ehrhoff.

He wasn't my first choice when he was drafted, but it's easy to see why he was picked. If and when he puts it all together, a blazingly fast forward with a great shot who hits like a truck will be an extremely valuable weapon. And even if he doesn't, he will still be a useful NHL player, crashing and banging on the 4th line, ala Torres or Lapierre.

Sure glad JB got the worst of the gaping holes patched up, so he doesn't need to spend any more of the gold making repairs. Really looking forward to seeing him invest more of that gold into more players like Gaudette. This kid seems to be getting more promising every week.
-
Funny, I feel the same way about you. It would be such a treat to wake up and find that you and a few of your fellow trolls had been traded to the leafs or oilers.
-
Yeah, I picture that obnoxious clown partying under a bridge, huddled around a fire in an oil drum with his fellow trolls, competing to see who can manufacture the most negative things to say.
-
I guess that's why the losers are so determined to trade him. A player as obviously valuable as Tanev just starting the prime of his career must be gone for the Canucks to become contenders. Of course he will be easy to replace with all the magical draft picks the Canucks will get. By the way, can anyone remind me in which round we drafted Tanev?
-
He just did. Afraid that's about as wise as Fat_Head gets.

Last year only 40 forwards scored 60 points or more in the NHL. There are 90 first line spots on the 30 teams. Baer is already scoring at a first line pace.
-
Maybe in a couple of years when he is as old as Sbisa is now, Guddy will be better. It's not completely unheard of for Dmen to get better as they progress through their mid-twenties. Remember what Pizza was like a couple of years ago?
-
Pretty promising kid for a 5th round pick. I like.
-
You are implying that JB offered to trade Bo. That seems extremely unlikely. Do you have some information that this is true, or are you just trolling as usual?
-
Not sure exactly who this rant is directed at, but I assume it is aimed at all Canuck fans who have hopes for the team's prospects. You sound like a young, ignorant lawyer who believes that his very narrow area of knowledge makes him an expert on everything. Your delusion that you know the future is pathetic. Assuming that you know the future career trajectories of children is ridiculous. And stating nonsense like: "have already PROVED they would have been better picks" with respect to said children demonstrates very sloppy, arrogant thinking.
-
I'm hoping that he only needs a few months in the minors to find his game. It would be nice to see him back on the Canucks this spring, making a useful contribution.

Can you imagine what the threads and posts would have been like if CDC existed during the Sedins' first few years in the NHL?
-
Yeah, you'd like that, wouldn't you. I bet you'd also like Stecher back, too. Lol.
-
Worked for Virt too, apparently.
-
A sniping winger who is really good at faceoffs. We could use one of those. He will nicely complement our centres who aren't that good at faceoffs.
-
It's an argument because a troll/hater found a good button to push to annoy the Canuck fans. It was a good button because even the other haters who like to find pretexts to slam JB, mostly like Boeser, so it allows the troll to annoy pretty well everyone on CDC.

Actually it does require hockey IQ to get a shot through traffic. The players are not standing still, they are moving. To get the shot through consistently you need to project where they will all be when the puck gets to the net. Hitting the spot you are aiming for takes skill. Knowing where the opening will be when the puck gets to the net takes hockey IQ.

Actually, Sutter is kinda like a Kesler lite.

I think that Tryamkin would probably make more money here than he would in the KHL even if he played half his games in the AHL, not to mention the difference in his expected income a few years down the road. I think he could probably be sent down, and wouldn't bolt to the KHL unless he was stuck there all year.
