If we go forward, I really like Boldy. Scouting reports are pretty gushy over this kid's all-around game. LW with pro size, high hockey IQ, has off the chart skills and plays all 200 ft of the ice. Sounds like a Benning player all the way.

While I don't think a top three pick is in the cards for us this year, my hope is to find our way into the top six and hope Byrom is still on the board. Seeing Hughes and Byrom as our top two left defensemen would really solidify that side. Hughes, Byrom, Juolevi is great look moving forward, provided Olli can avoid injury in the future. Also hoping to see Korczak available for our second pick. While not as offensively skilled as Hughes or Byrom, he still puts up decent points and would provide a physical presence on the blueline, providing great balance to our d core. Hughes Woo Byrom Korczak Juolevi Stetcher Imo, that would be a pretty enviable blueline.

I think if you put Dahlen in as a lock, you have to put Jasek in the conversation too. He's really showing a solid game. His offensive numbers are not that different from Dahlens except Jasek looks to be more dependable in the two-way game.

If Sutter's going to have any value, he's going to have to prove over the next two to three weeks that he's back to the Sutter of old. The good news is, he looked pretty good last night. Hopefully, it continues. I don't believe Washington would have much interest in Pouliot at all. Pouliot has proven to be prone to defensive gaffes and poor judgment. In the postseason, one bad play can cost a season. The fact that Benning's already made inquiries on Burokovsky and nothing came of it, tells me that the ask was too high, certainly more than Sutter or Pouliot. The price may come down as the deadline gets closer but I still think it would take more than Sutter or Pouliot.

Other than his meteoric rise in the production numbers, which is very exciting, I'm most encouraged by his staying healthy. The biggest knock on him, going into the draft, was his injury history. Him staying healthy and proving he's durable could turn him into the steal of the 2018 draft. Going into that draft, I didn't have Woo on my radar but I can say with certainty, he's on it now. Love this pick.

I, seriously, want JB to put a fork in this guy's career here. Don't really care what we get in return. Would've rather kept Hansen.

Totally agree here. Both Granlund and Schaller have been MIA, with neither showing any signs of improvement. Gaunce's hard work is looking to be yielding results. His numbers have greatly improved in Utica. He, also, produced during his brief stint in Vancouver earlier this season. As I would love to see Gaudette on Horvat's right side for a while, Having Gaunce as a possible 3C would be a very welcome possibility.

I, myself, have been guilty of over hyping players in the past. I was stoked when we picked up Gadjovich and had him slotted into a second line role before he even got to shake Bennings hand at the draft. His pro debut has brought me back to reality and serves as a reminder of why these players were picked in lower rounds. Gadget may have been a second pick which still isn't too shabby but it is apparent he needs to do a lot of work before he can be considered for a big league spot. While I am encouraged by Madden's play at the WJC, we must remember he's a third round pick, telling me, there are issues with his game. Whether it be size, consistency, or issues in particular zones, Madden, like Gadjovich, has a lot of work to do before we hail him the next big thing in the big show. That being said, I am very encouraged by what I've seen of him so far.

Still a fan of a Johnny Canuck logo. The blue and green represents our commitment to preserving our environment. Johnny is a fun, not too serious, tough looking character that, imo, is an accurate representation of what a BCer is. We are generally fun people that don't take life too seriously. When provoked, however, we can become quite abrasive, especially when defending our way of life and our identity.

Maybe you should read follow up posts where I've already "boned up" as you put it and apologized for any misunderstanding I read into the article I'd read.
-
Sorry if my facts are wrong. Reading the article led me to believe it was the crown that wanted it kept under wraps. The same still applies as far as whether or not she's done wrong according to our laws.

100% agree. If she's done nothing wrong in Canada, she should have no problems while here. A Supreme Court putting a gag order on an international issue screams shade and smells fishy. It tells me the American Natzi Party, aka Trump Administration, is, once again, meddling in Canadian affairs and bending our spineless government to their will. Let the Americans do their own dirty work.

The first two things Benning said about why he drafted Virtanen is his " meanness and his ruggedness." It's no coincidence Jake's at his best when he's putting opposing players on their butts. When it happens, he's engaged in the game and elevates to another level. Last night against LA was a great example. We heard his name very little. All the hype surrounding Virtanen vs Phaneuf never came to be. There were no big checks by him and no intensity. He was invisible. I can't even recall him getting a shot on net. If he did, it wasn't very impactfull. He needs to bring the mean every game and be that presence every player is wary of. And he, also needs to back it when someone takes exception to it. It was his game in the juniors and it should be his game in the NHL. While Gaunce was not as big a hitter as Virtanen in the juniors, it was his crash and bash style that created his success. It was his forte in all three zones. The kid could hit and like Jake, Gaunces game elevates when he plays to his strengths. Also, like Jake, he needs to answer the bell when necessary to serve notice that he won't be bullied into changing his game. When both have backed their play ( dropping the gloves ), they've been very effective and have done well.

Brendan Gaunce and Jake Virtanen are very similar situations in that they were both drafted to provide a solid checking game to our line up but neither has ,truly, embraced that role. Yes, they've showed glimpses of what they could bring, but neither has been a consistent presence in that regard. I am finding myself more encouraged, lately, by Jake's play, in particular. He's been more physical and his game has seemed to elevate as a result. I am definitely hoping to see physicality as a permanent part of Shotgun's game. Gaunce had success in his stint with the big club and I was kind of surprised we didn't see him get a better look, given his production. Like Jake, Brendan needs to make his presence felt every game. He's too aloof and must be more visible.

Once again, JB finds a kid who understands his game and what he needs to improve on to get to the NHL. The most important thing is he's willing to put the work in to get there and isn't going to rush it. Dahlen is going to make it. His skills are too high end not to. Working on his complete game is only going to make him better and wiser when he does get his shot. I am loving the quality of prospects JB's been able to gather. He knows the key to long term success in the NHL is system depth and he has this team's future looking great. I honestly believe it's only a matter of time before we see this generation of Canucks hoisting a cup.

Really want to see Gadjovich elevate his game. We could really use his edgy style of play in our line up. He, very much, depends on tips and rebounds. He looks prime to become a premiere garbage man in the NHL. I see him as grinding nuisance in front of the net and one that excels in the playoffs.
-
I did have Dahlen as a dark horse to make the team but, his transition to the smaller ice surface wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped, which is fine. I'm far from disappointed. Dahlen is way too talented to let this hold him back. I have full confidence he'll make the necessary adjustments and be with the big club in the future.

Hughes looked perfectly comfortable playing against pros and was looking to be quite effective. "Hughes to Pettersson" and "Pettersson to Hughes" are two phrases we should get used to boys and girls. And if we really get lucky, "Hughes to Hughes."

True, the Seahawks OL is, arguably, their biggest weakness, but having two potent weapons in Wilson and Bell behind them provides the nucleus for a new running game. The fact is, it doesn't matter who's behind that group, as it stands, the running game is going to struggle, but acquiring Bell gives them the best running option until they can build a new O-line.
-
What about a deal with the Steelers involving Le'Veon Bell. There is no doubting the Seahawks need a premiere RB.

EP has looked very sharp. His skills shine every time he touches the puck. So far, he's showing why he's an early favourite for the Calder.
