  1. Tryamkin, last night, was a beast. That's how he needs to play every night. Not necessarily the fighting, but the big hits and smart decision making. Once he figures it out (and he will) he's going to be one of the most feared defenders in the league. And, yes, he does need to pollish up his combat skills. He looked pretty awkward in that fight.
  2. Know the subject's probably been beat to death but; Does Matt Duchene now make a little more sense in a trade scenario (the steep asking price being beside the point).
  3. It's my opinion that, with the addition of Goldobin, our focus at the draft should be changed. Watching the few shifts he played, I started to think about where he fits and who fits with his style. I, quickly, realized we don't have a centre that works with him and that we, now, need to either draft him a centre or trade for one at the draft. If we draft one, I can see good fits with either Mittlestadt or Vilardi. As for a trade? I'll leave that for another forum.
  4. He's going to be #1 by seasons end. Too bad; he's the player I wanted.
  5. Nether was Chara for his first season or two but he learned and became a force in the NHL.
  6. I was just going to comment on the same thing. He's not noticed as much as he was at the start of the season. He needs to bring back the mean in his game and start laying the body more. Yes, he will get caught out of position from time to time, but the lasting effects of a 6'7" threat for a big hit can be long lasting and mentally impactful, especially when they see it happen in person. It also wouldn't hurt if he would drop the gloves, once in a while, to really drive the message home. When he's not making his pressence felt, he really turns into a non factor.
  7. I really like this kids skillet but the thing I really like is his attitude. He, staight up, says that he knows he needs to work on his defensive game and is going to work hard to improve. This willingness to admit to and eagerness, to work on, his weaknesses, very much reminds of another future Canucks named Boeser. And what has he done? 45 points in 26 games and is a plus 7. Sounds like a winner to me. If he keeps up the pace, there could be a dark horse for 1st overall. His ability to play multiple positions only increases his value. I think he's, quickly, become my new favorite.
  8. This would be far from a rash move and they have been cautious, but there comes a time when you let a horse loose to run. He may be young in age but he's no longer a rookie. If he continues on his current pace, he, at least keeps up with the Sedins. Management's been waiting for an opportunity to begin the changing of the guard and this could be it (given he does achieve a 50-60 point season).
  9. This needs to get done sooner than later. The longer management waits, the more expensive he gets. He's looking like a 50+ point getter this year and his defensive play has really improved. As it sits now, his agent is going to be looking at projected value verses current and he's got an argument. Bo's improved every season and looks to continue trending up. I don't doubt, at all, his price tag right now is at 5 per year. I can see him as our starting 1C next year.
  10. I, personally, wouldn't be upset to see Bautista go. I found his comments during the preseason to be premature and very ultimatum like. His season fell short ( although injury played a part) but what really bothered me at the end was his unwillingness to adapt in the playoffs. He, unwisely, tried to pull every pitch that he saw. He was trying to get ahead of outside fastballs, trying to put every pitch over the fence. It looked like,he was really trying to raise his value rather than doing the smart thing and just putting the ball in play. Yes, he did it a couple times but it wasm't enough to make a difference. For me, that's the deal breaker. Edwin is far more versatile. He hits homers, he can play first base and he's more than willing to suck it up and take what the pitcher's offering and putting it in play. And dam it, I just couldn't stand to see the parrot in any other colors.
  11. I didn't realize this was a proposal thread. Saw Stetcher as part of the title.
  12. I wasn't expecting to be saying this for a couple more seasons but, so far, the twins look sluggish and beat down. Defending players are reading them much easier and are able to stop their cycle play much easier. So far, at least, they are, simply, not as crisp as in past seasons. I hope this is only short lived.
  13. It s been rumored JB is definitely now looking for a top six winger. Just saying a move of any kind seems rash at this point, given there are still unanswered questions in our current lineup.
  14. Any word yet on a return date? I hate having this guy on the shelf. With JB looking to push the panic button (which I think is a mistake), it seem imparative we find out what we have in this guy.
  15. Another positive is the management tandem that built the Indian team that s moving on is now going to subtract the unnecessary and add the missing pieces. I'm still very excited about this team moving forward and think the Jays are gonna be better than ever before.
  16. This series, very much, reminded me of the Royals series. Couldn't get anything going against starting pitching and got completely dominated by the bullpen. Obviously they didn't learn anything. Too bad. Wonder what Bautista thinks of Merrit now.
  17. Just wanna add a positive. I have been very impressed with our pitching. They all had great performances and deserved better fates. Don't know who's gonna be back but I hope we keep our starters in tact. This pitching staff would be epic again next year if kept together.
  18. Too many, one hit wanna be heroes, and not enough role players. It seems, Bautista is hitting to up his raise in the offseason with every swing intended to put the ball in another time zone. Pillar and Martin couldn't hit a beach ball and; Tulo who? Their starting pitching was good but, that being said, Blue Jays bats have given a lot of free outs through out the series, trying to be one hit heroes and shot themselves in the foot many times. Looks like Bautista will have to eat, yet, more crow after I'll advised comments. He needs to go. Too bad. He's a good player but would be better if he could keep his ego in check.
  19. Thank you for not bringing Sanchez back. His stuff was starting lose bite. Another great outing.
  20. It's got nothing to do with the strike zone. The umps have missed calls but it's been even for both sides. The difference is Clevelands pitching has made very few mistakes and, when they have, Jay hitters haven't taken advantage. They need to be aware of a bigger strike zone and adapt to it.
