  1. Although three way deals are probably more complicated then your proposal, I'm all for getting Braden Schneider. But, I'm wondering if Brock Boeser makes more sense for them. They are pretty heavy on the left side but fairly thin on the right.
  2. Imo, the issue is value. At 7.5+, are we getting value out of Boeser? At 8+, Are we getting value out of Miller? I see issues in both cases. In Boeser's situation, I see more of a follower who's offense is fed to him by others. He's not the driving force of the line. At the price he'll be asking, I'd be expecting a more complete game with just as much work being done on the defensive side as the offensive. For me, 7.5 is too rich. Miller poses a different problem. Age. He is the leading scorer of the team but, he will be 29 in March and there's little doubt he'll be looking to cash in on his success for as long as he can get. He may be full marks for his money at the beginning but, as is the case with most players in the twilight of their careers, he will fade and become a burden to the cap. Anything more than 4 yrs, I'd be out. In either case, unless the numbers come down, I'd rather see them traded. As for RHD I'd like to see any of Braden Schneider, Ryan O Rourke, Nicolas Meloche, Erik Cernak or, David Jiricek
  3. Next year. Rutherford will try to make changes to go for it this year. I have no doubt he's going to shake things up in a big way, somehow and the shakeup may very well include players we consider untouchable. Canucks fans wanted change. We're undoubtedly going to get it.
  4. I am very happy to say Quinn Hughes for both. His ability to maintain great offensive numbers while greatly improving his defensive game has made him our most valuable player and most pleasent surprise.
  5. At first I was going to pooh pooh anything involving $hits how Kane but if we were to go back to the drawing board under new management and start dealing some of our vets, I could see scenarios that may make sense. However, regardless of what we're giving up, I would be looking to take advantage of a really bad situation in San Jose. I don't think, given the extreme baggage (nobody wants to play with this guy) that asking for 2 first round picks in addition to Meloche is unreasonable. Kane, Meloche, 2022 unprotected 1st, and 2023 protected first for Pearson and Sutter. We take on Kane and his crap for 3 yrs, during which he can, hopefully, deal with his demons and, at least, finish his career with a bit of class. If not, he walks and we never speak of him again. We also get another lottery ticket in "the fight for Wright," sweepstakes, a second first rounder for 2023 or24, and a gritty, hard-nosed defender to match up with Hughes.
  6. Braden Schneider is at the top of my wishlist when looking at trades so any deal bringing him here would be desirable. Miller started his career as a Ranger but was traded. However, I think it's safe to say he's a much more polished player now. The Rangers are rumored to be looking for a middle-six forward. At just over 5 mil. for another full season after this one, Miller would have great value to them. Unfortunately, JB and Co. may still be under the delusion that there's still a chance to save this season.
  7. I'm hoping he's not here long enough to be able to do anymore damage.
  8. It seems clear to me that FA would rather watch the ship sink then admit to mistakes.
  9. Even if I get Schneider and a first for Miller, I'm still happy.
  10. I think Miller's the better fit but, I'd also want Ryan O'Rourke.
  11. They've been, for the most part, pretty comparable but, over the past three seasons, Miller's been higher in the offensive categories and still has another season at a great number before he goes ufa. I believe the price is fair.
  12. If this is the case, would Miller be a better fit, in your opinion? He's gritty, has proven he can play center, and is more of a, win now, player. He started his career there and is a more complete player now. Maximizing return on his success would seem a prudent move. Miller for Schneider, 2022 1st, and a 2023 2nd.
  13. I believe that if Petey and Brock were at 10-12 points themselves, no one would be discussing either in any way other than in a praising manor. I think it is way too early to be panicking about The Lotto Line as a top line. In fact, I am very encouraged about the turn around in team defence. Yes, production is down but, the fact that their goals against average is at 2.6, down from 3.10, is a big turn around. Even Quinn Hughes, who I thought, was never going to be a good defender, has vastly improved in the defensive zone. Petey, Hughes, Miller, Garland, Myers, Horvat, Hogz, Pearson, Boeser, Schenn, Dowling, OEL, Highmore, Dickinson, Podz, Hamonic, Poolman, and Bailey are, all, on the positive side of the defensive categories. The most important thing about this stat is that all of our core players are playing defense. I see this as the team beginning to buy into TG's system. I believe it's only a matter of time before Petey and Boeser get back to their old scoring ways. The bottom line is, if by Christmas EP40 and Boeser are still mired in their slumps, then it may be time to worry but for now, don't sweat it.
  14. He was my pick that year too. Was really bummed when Yserman snagged him
  15. I've this in other threads and I'll say it here. IT'S NOT GREEN THAT'S GOTTA GO.
  16. I like to divide hockey into four aspects. Character, IQ, Skill, and the one that can't be taught, size. Deviations can be made in each category but not big ones. Character is my top asset in hockey. Character players are the ultra-competitors. Winning is not an option, it's a must. Losing a game is not ok with them weather the game is meaningless or not. Character players are never good enough in their minds. There is always room to improve. They will be the ones who take the hits to make the plays and will always be there for their teammates.. They are the real dressing room presences and say what needs to be said, good or bad. Character players practice what they preach and lead by example. I agree, for the most part, on your assessment of Garland but not because of status as a player but because of the team needing to take pointers from him and finding their own inner beast. Of course I don't mean for players like Petey to go out there and drop the gloves with anyone but, I do believe there are other players on the team that can pick it up in the physicality department. Chajsson could be a little more assertive in his play. Bo Horvat does know how to play a physical game and should be a little more ", in your face," Podkolzin was touted as being a gritty, edgy player who will throw down on occasion. I haven't seen much physicality, as of yet. Overall, team mean and physicality needs to elevate.
  17. This team is in need of much more then a fix.
  18. This is not coach. This is a GM trying to polish a turd he created. TG can only coach a scheme, he cannot go out and execute for his team. They have to absorb and perform. It's sad that TG will probably pay the piper before the true culprit.
