Boeser was a first round pick and he certainly did well grabbing him in the first. Jake was the correct pick at the time and so far it hasn't panned out as well as we hoped but Jake still has a few years to figure itout. As for the Nylanders and Ehler's of the world yea it sucks we did't nab one of them but it is what it is lets move on with the prospects we got.
-
Nylander is a really good player. Nylander is maybe in the leafs bottom 6 for now but he will transition into the top 6 there in no time. Same thing we did with Horvat you can't rush these kids not everyone is cut from the same cloth as a Mathews or McDavid. However, I love the optimism and I too wish that Dahlen exceeds all of our expectations. (Same goes for all of our prospects hahah)

man im in love with alison brie. Back to Jasek though pretty decent stats in the playoffs. especially if he had 38 pims in which he didnt play either
-
we can get to that when we have to, which is still quite a while. Until then im just going to be happy popping into this thread every once in a while to check on his development. But yea it would suck if he didn't based off how people are projecting his career to be (potentially)
-
I agree. However its progress that doesn't need to be progress. We should not have to be happy with the fact that his attitude has improved. I guess thats just where we are at with Jake andI for one am willing to be patient kids got all the tools heres to hoping he figures it out.
-
He could take piano lessons with Horvat for all i care just get these to together all ready. In all seriousness I hope Boeser can reach his potential guys got all the tools but I agree with a few posters here lets loosen our expectations just a bit.

Juolevi on sportsnet currently if anyone wants to tune in.
-
You do mention make solid points i just don't wanna overhype him in my mind haha. Hence the Higgins comparison. All in all we have a prospect who has a real shot at having a good career.
-
Yea had a very servicable career, what do you think about the comparison or do you have an opinion on any other comparable?
-
Agreed, he possesses all the tools just hope he can put it all together at the NHL level, my comparable would be chris higgins (just my opinion)
-
pretty much spot on. Always seems to be in the right place and defs has a high compete level. Coach really seems to trust him in all situations.
-
definitely has some good tools at his disposal. Really hope he puts it all together one day in for the blue/green with white trim.
-
I believe tsn2 is carrying northeastern vs harvard currently if anyone wants to tune in or doesn't have anything to do since this cray amount of snow has blockaded me in my home.
-
The one thing i noticed that maybe overlooked or not mentioned enough is that olli always hits the guy he is passing to right on the tape. Makes it very easy for the team to setup an attack or even breaking out of the zone.
-
Agreed with the position the team is in now there is no need to force/pressure anyone of our prospects into the big league. Just take your time let them season and everyone will be better for it in the long run.
-
My guess is that they educate the players on diet and conditioning regiments but at the end of the day it is still up to the player to follow. That is just my guess though and im legit speaking right out of my a**.
-
Agreed my friend. It is really a shame that these guys are in the roles that they are in.
-
I would be over the moon if virt can turn into a kreider comparable.

uhhhhh what?

The thing with Olli is that he is such a smart player with a high hockey IQ. The fact that he doesn't excel in any one area (skating, shot, power, etc) isn't a concern to me as these are things that he can work on and eventually improve in his career. I mean these guys are still so young we shouldn't be worried about the pick as of now. You can't teach the hockey IQ that comes naturally everything else you can teach and hopefully Olli is willing to put in the work.
-
Yea that why i said that that a lot of help will be arriving next year. I hope Green will still be there to coach them.
-
Ye didn't sound at all like complaining but it defs shed a light on the fact that Utica hasn't really had a blue chip guy in a while. This season didn't help as well with as many injuries that we faced we took so many guys from Utica. As for the benning part a lot of those guys he drafted will be with Utica next year (hopefully).
-
Dang when Travis Green said that they havent had anyone of Baertschi or Rodin's talent level in a few years. Just stick around for a year Green help is coming.

I was at the game last night and the only thing that worries me about Stech is that he takes a LOT of hits and some of them look very awkward. As long as he learns to take the abuse of a 82 game schedule he will be more than fine.
