  1. Coyotes also were unable to move Vrbata at the deadline... "If I wanted to be traded, I'd be traded"

Yeah, I don't think he's ever been accused of being a "team first" player...

In this case, I think his contract bonuses played a part in the lack of a trade. If he was traded to a playoff team he was due to receive a $250,000 bonus for every playoff round...

      -SN-

It's like he's insulating himself against playing in the playoffs. Maybe he really enjoys the off-season.

I wouldn't doubt it. He seems to be a prime example of a player that's in it solely for the money (IMO).

  2. CDC being unavailable today made me realize how hopelessly lost I am without it...

This is where I get all my Canucks news and trade updates. I was so lost. Like I had to learn to use the internet all over again.

  3. Mixed emotions. Fantastic trade but sad to see Burrows go. He was a warrior for this franchise and will always be the dragon-slayer that got us past Chicago! All the best Burr! Heart of a Canuck! Guess I'll be cheering for Ottawa come Playoff time! Hell of a trade by Benning getting us a top prospect in Dahlen! Ottawa got fleeced! Let the rebuild continue!

  4. Apparently the Coyotes have said Duclair is available. Would you take a chance on him? What would you give up?

That's kind of what I was thinking.  It would be the most I'd offer, not sure how much Arizona values Duclair though.  Someone out there may be willing to part with a mid-first for him, who knows.

    3. King Heffy

Problem is he's expansion draft eligible.  I like him a lot but other moves would have to be made.

    4. luckylager

      luckylager

Considering he's ED eligible - hard no. This summer if Zona still owns him, I suppose a 2nd round pick is right up JB's alley.

I don't see Duclair as having any more value than Baer did. Maybe slightly more. 2nd and Tate Olsen

  5. Just got promoted to Sales Manager at my work.

Guess I'll be giving a lot of talks like this to my Sales Team....

  6. I heard on Team 1040 that earlier this season during a stoppage in play, Shane Doan approached Bo Horvat and said,  "You're my favourite young player, keep up the good work." After that Bo really seemed to start working even harder because of the respect shown to him. I know Doan's not a Canuck, but what a class act doing that for a young player not even on his team.

Wow. That speaks volumes not only about the class of Shane Doan but also to how Bo is perceived around the league. The one thing about Shane Doan that I admire the most is that through thick and thin he stuck it out in Zona. He has had a really good career, and the thing is he was never really considered a "star" yet he is nearing 1000 points

    3. Bruce Boudreau

      Bruce Boudreau

Ron MacLean was all over this guy for calling a French ref a frog allegedly..

Horvat just doesn't go through the motions like some other guys in the league.

He brings it each night instead of forecheck-backcheck paycheck.

if cdc doesn't agree with willie's moves than he is no good. imo willie and his coaches are trying to find chemistry  on the lines. if the team wins it is jarvis's doing. if they lose, then it's willie's fault.

  18. I don't get how this tournament works. It makes no sense to me that team North America was eliminated. They were one of the more entertaining teams to watch and now they get eliminated basically for what group they were in. What a joke.

^That isn't true. They were eliminated because the first tie breaker is the head to head match-up, which Russia won.

They went pretty hard tonight. I sure hope all the players have been working out hard in the offseason, because going from 0-100 this quick players are going to start getting alot of annoying injuries before the season if not, groins, knees etc..

Nice combo RNT, but my favorite "snack" with whiskey is a dirty ol' cigar. Sadly, the wife put a moratorium on cigars when my son was born, so now I'm forced to drink whiskey with a huge doobie. Seems like I only ever make it through one whiskey these days...

    3. Roger Neilsons Towel

      Fun Fact

The Scots spell it whisky and the Irish spell it whiskey, with an extra 'e'. This difference in the spelling comes from the translations of the word from the Scottish and Irish Gaelic forms. Whiskey with the extra 'e' is also used when referring to American whiskies.

    4. luckylager

      luckylager

Omg. I've cast a gaze at thousands of bottles of whisky / whiskey and never even realized American's opted for a more complicated way to spell something! Highly unusual.

My whiskey choices change with the seasons, and have for years: Bourbon late spring and summer, Scotch once it starts getting damp and cold and then Irish in the spring.

      Full on weirdo over here.
