2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

I just can't see JB not drafting CM. His skill set fits the bill and he's gunna be at the university of Minnesota for atleast a year. That's fits our timeline pretty perfectly. Not to mention JB's fedish for USHL players. -

Well then who cares... you hire a GM to create their own lists and hire scouting staff to create their own data on players. Maybe don't mention that we didn't take the BPA when in fact Juolevi was Bennings BPA at 5. Get it? -

I also hate to bring up the past but we drafted a highly skilled guy in Shinkaruk and got extremely good value when we turned him into Granlund. But also like Shinkaruk it is hard to tell with the smaller skilled players if they are certain to make the show or not. Benning clearly has more interest in aquiring skilled wingers that are 2 or more years into their draft year and development. Which is actually quite brilliant because it shows an increased chance that they are infancy capable of making the big leagues. -

So your saying every GM should just draft according to the consensus? Cause that's what it sounds like your saying. -
+1 Great response, Melon.

He looks very impressive that's for sure. The team he has been playing on with the likes of Keller, Greenway, Fabbro and the rest of all stars has probably been helping too. A 16/17 London Knights comparable that's for sure. All that aside Charlie does look like the more offensive minded d-man of the 2. Boston definitely stole him where they got him.

Exactly right. Your legs and toes believe it or not. Then you have to have the core strength to make accurate hits. It's actually very little to do with how much you bench press or curl. Obviously if you are heavy you will make a bigger boom but if you can generate the power from your legs and feet you can do exactly the same thing. The same reason why star players are so hard to knock off the puck.

Matt Strome if taken in the appropriate round could be extremely good value. I'd hope he turns into a Tom Wilson for whoever drafts him. He clearly doesn't have the star power that his other 2 brothers "supposably" have. But I think he's worth a late 2nd or early 3rd. His size and grit could definitely be used for our rebuilding team down the line. People don't realize that one of his best traits is his hockey sense. -

I wouldn't draft Mathew for his skill. He's got a pretty hulking frame on him to go along with a great game IQ. Definitely add toughness to our prospect pool. I mean with a late 2nd I could justify it. -

No doubt. I also feel like he could go slightly higher than people expect. Kind of like a Keller situation last year. A player committing to a great NCAA program and clearly has a ton of skill. Playing the waiting game is the hardest part. -

A lot of assumptions in this post there big fella. I would not assume anything about anyone. YouTube is also a great tool to get a "glimpse" or "key hole" into how a player looks. Thought I'd advise you since you failed to mention that in your post above. Secondly I can an almost assure you Benning does not take a winger with our first round. We are in greater need of a centre and should have a few options at a suitable centre with our pick. Your hindsight looks pretty 20/20 though. So that's good you knew about Kopitar and Pastrnak before all of us. Finally a pro scout on CDC. Lastly (please don't think I'm talking down to you) I would not compare at all Chychrun to Comtois. It's a forward vs a d-man. The only comparable is that their stock has dropped but even at that I would put either of them in the same sentence. You definitely crammed a lot of info and opinion into your 5th post so I can appreciate that, at least. Exciting times my friend, exciting times. -
LOL jokes. I'm a pot stir'r.

June 1rst ? -
I know everyone is assuming his wrist is still reocerving due to the massive tape job in his hand. Has anyone thought that because of his surgery his wrist is naturally weaker or he prefers the tape job because his grip is than tighter and can generate more power.... just a thought. Brock has said that he feels fine, so I believe him.
-
It will be between him and Bo for the next few years to whom will rep for the nucks. I don't think it's out of the question to think Brock could lead this team in points within the next couple seasons. He's that good.

A really good power play is pretty scary. Just saying. It's not the 90's anymore people.

Same bag of tricks as Keller with a bigger frame. Trust me.
