  1. Not sure how he’s doing in Phoenix with real estate, but what about Eddie Lack? Another goalie, and Shorty could switch from hamburgers to tacos!
  2. This has nothing to do with the game, but I was cooking dinner with the game on the tv, and my son came in and asked “ Dad, who’s number 34?” Without skipping a beat, I replied “ Jason Strudwick”
  3. At least tonight there was effort. Game 1 we got McMuffin-ed Game 2 we got 2 goals we didn’t deserve against the flow, and got out worked. Game 3 we got Ovi-ed Game 4, the hockey gods will probably have Johnny score 12 goals, and a backup goalie getting a shut out. Guys are starting to clench the stick. Making poor decisions. Demko isn’t saving us. Next year, the last 2 preseason games better have close to opening roster playing. #53, 9, 70, 43, 23, (and probably more, and 6 is catching up after injury) are all making bad passes, bad decisions, and their timing is definitely off. Are we really missing Tyler Myers that much? I’m loving Burroughs, but he’s not a 24 minute guy. Sorry, I’m usually a glass half full, positive guy, but this is damn FRUSTRATING!!! Go #@$&$#@$ Canucks!!
  4. And now it's time for "Nature Creations", episode 12, The Coyote. blah, blah blah... SPLAT!!! (cue the AT-AT Walker from Star Wars...) Too Funny! Did the Canucks hire a new PR group? These commercial breaks were way more fun than watching a Scotia Bank commercial for the 4356 time. Was anyone at the game tonight? The atmosphere seemed more fun than it has in years. Oh the hockey game... good disipline from the Canucks, weak opponent, work on your systems, rotate through the lines, give everyone equal ice time. Hello Cobie ... Go Canucks!!!!
  5. Finally! got to watch a game… Players who most impressed me: Lazar. Especially during the third period 5on3, McMuffin was doing his speed thing around the perimeter, Lazar just followed him and at the opportune moment, just knocked the puck off his stick. And good energy. Wolanin, steady, smart passes, good defensive plays, especially on the Canucks PP when the oilers had a 2on1. Unpopular opinion: this line up had to happen. Management and coaching had to know which players were worthy of keeping up, and which to send down. I think this game was a good litmus test. Someone like Wolanin stays, and someone like Keeper goes down. (But I’m cheering for Keeper, he got dealt a crappy injury last year, I’m rooting for him) Make the necessary re-assignments, get the proper roster set. Given the lineups, I thought the Canucks did pretty good until the last 5 minutes. It seemed that 5on3 kill drained all their energy. 2 more games then the season! Wahoo! Go Canucks!
  6. Yes, Tampa won the first 10 minutes, but our boys woke up and took over the rest of the game. Only excellent goaltending prevented a complete comeback. The effort for the last 50 minutes was good. The last 2 games have been against superior, Cup champion teams, and our boys held their own. It took incredible puck luck and incredible goaltending to beat the Canucks! Im not pissed at the penalty reversal. I’m upset the penalty should never had been called in the first place. An intelligent, experienced ref would have known it was a follow through, and not called anything, and with highlites the intelligent fan would have agreed it was the correct non call. By making a bad call, then reversal, it opens up all sorts of frustration and anger. Not sure why Hughes and Schenn were separated, put them back together. And while Hamonic has been getting bashed around here abit, I’m impressed at his recent ability to get point shots through to the net. unpopular opinion: I think Demko needs a break. He’s not as sharp as before. We need to plug our nose and put Halak in for a game or two…(just after the Devils…) Day of rest boys, then crush the Devils!! Go Canucks Go!!!!!
  7. PVR’d the game, just finished… Holy moly what a game… definitely had a playoff feel, and unfortunately had a 2011 Bruins vibe to it in that we feel robbed, both by the hockeys gods (BS bounce for their first goal) and the refs (The Myers penalty, buddy not going into the dark room after a head shot, and taking away a penalty after further review?!?!) Great effort by everyone! Washington came to play, I thought our boys stepped up! Schenn throwing the body and giving the stare-down, keeping Wilson and Hathaway honest. I thought Hogz and Podz were doing alright, not sure why they got benched in the third, but in Bruce we trust. Guess I have 16 pages to go through to find out who got the belt tonight, I vote for Schenn. We got a point, keep er going boys, we can do it!!!! GO CANUCKS GO!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
  8. Was at the game with my son, him wearing his Brock jersey and Canucks toque, me in my Bo jersey also wearing my Canucks toque. If you thought watching the game on tv was bad, try watching it live. DULL… No energy in the stands. No food or drinks allowed. 50% capacity. The Flames fans around us were pissed at how awful the Flames power play was. And usually there’s a bit of good humoured back and forth smack talk, but nothing tonight. My son said the most entertaining thing was in the 2nd intermission, the 2(!) Zambonis missed a strip and one had to go back. Good to have Demko and Bo back. Bo looked like he was trying to find his grove, he seemed a little off. The team lost something when Myers got ejected. It’s like they played for the single point instead of the win. I love the Jekyll and Hyde of the forum… 2 days ago Miller for 3 firsts and a prospect wasn’t enough, he’s the real captain of the team, etc… Now… Unpopular opinion: Hogz and Podz should go down to Abbotsford for a few games, get their grove back. Unpopular opinion #2: if Petey keeps falling down, send him to Abbotsford as well to get his feet back. Every team in the nhl lays an egg during the course of the season. This was the first egg during Boudreau’s tenure. Given the schedule and Covid issues, not bad all things considered. And we still got a point. Go Canucks!!!
  9. Rutherford has stated he wants a fast, skilled team (who doesn’t) Funny, that’s what Benning said too. if history tells us something, it’s to look at the Carolina team that won the cup vs the Penguins. Having Crosby on a team is a good way to start building a team. Carolina was built with no superstar (ala Crosby), rolling 4 lines, a great work ethic and pure will. The good thing is Rutherford and his new management team already have some good pieces to build on. I expect the minimal activity during the season, unless a deal you can’t refuse is offered (like a first for Motte, not gonna happen, but for example). Give the new management team sometime to effectively evaluate this team. Do it properly. I’d hate for Brock to traded just because he’s on low right now just to catch fire with another team. Go Canucks!
  10. The score is not indicative of the game. The Canucks deserved a much better fate than this. I can’t stand when a team gets badly outplayed, yet goes to the other end, gets 1 shot and scores. Di Peitro played well, but might want that third goal back. give the Blues credit, when we got a shot on net, they collapsed around the net, took a man and got the puck clear. Very hard to get a rebound or deflection on this team. We needed some size and muscle up front (hmmm Bo and Miller may have helped…) As painful as it is to watch the Canucks lose, this might be a blessing in disguise, as the management team can use these games to look at what is good, what is needed, and what is baggage. All in all, a good game played by the short depleted Canucks, and the Blues should not feel too proud about this win. Go Canucks!!
  11. Just finished the game on pvr.. wow, talk about heart and effort! while Martin deserves credit for a good, solid game, credit must also be given to the defence as a whole for limiting high quality chances. I do wish that Petey with Hogz and Podz was kept together, but I understand the need to shuffle lines. And I refuse to let the Panthers or anyone else use the excuse 3rd game in 4 nights/road trip/ back to back… the Canucks recently BEAT the Capitals, 4th game of a 5 game road trip, back to back, and in the afternoon. And so fitting to let Motte take the ceremonial face off on this particular night, we’ll done to all involved! Go Canucks Go!!!
  12. Man, nothing is going right. Last game, Petey fumbles the puck, goal. Tonight, Miller fumbles the puck, goal. When was the last time 2 good players like Demko and Myers screw up like they did leading to a slap in the face goal? Over the course this short season, we have seen bad break outs, poor passing, goal posts, bad reffing, injuries, bad time stick breaks, falling, waiver loses, suspension, pucks bouncing off linesmen, etc etc… Everything that can go wrong, is going wrong. I can not believe this team is this bad. Nothing is going right. Come on Canucks, break out of this funk!! Go Canucks!
  13. And that’s the crux right now. Who is available? Mid season, getting a coach from another team is near impossible. Highly doubt Chicago would release Crow, Dallas John Stevens, or Pittsburg Todd Reirden. So who’s available? Boudreau? Julien? Torts? I don’t think Shaw Is head coach material, and Cull isn’t ready. So who? Theres a lot of Fire Green people out there, what’s their say? Personally, I would bring in Julien with an interim deal, and see how the year pans out. He probably wouldn’t go for it, but you never know.
  14. I’m a Canucks fan. Have been all my life. I own jerseys, toques, hats, etc. Go to games when I can. Purchased NHL Centre ice so I can watch all the games. Wear my Horvat jersey at stick n puck and on the lake during winter. My boys now cheer for the Canucks. I live in Calgary and I’ve put up with Sedin sister crap, no Cup crap, Burrows crap, etc. And I still bleed Canucks. Ive never been on the Fire Green bandwagon. But this is enough. After Petey had the turn over, and Green chewed him out, I witnessed a team who has tuned out the coach, and coach who is now at a loss to bring the team back to him. And when that happens, there is only 1 solution. Sigh…. Go canucks….
  15. When I’m walking the dog tomorrow, and I have to pick up the big steaming pile, I’ll think of this games officiating…. Go Canucks! Everyone hates us! Refs hate us! Screw them all! Go Canucks!
  16. Rescued a kitten a few months ago, he slept on my lap the whole game. Couldn’t cheer every goal, cheer every save, or yell at every chance. Worth every moment! Finally! Pucks going in! And how about Peteys moustache? shhhhh but Go Canucks!!
  17. I sit here, with my IPad, wondering what the hell to type. I got nothing. Just disappointment. Brutal, painful, disappointment. just staring blankly at the keyboard. Shaking my head. (go canucks….)
  18. In the first, you could see the frustration on the bench, guys couldn’t believe the luck they were getting. The only way to break crappy luck and bad bounces is hard work, and I’m glad in the third they put in a hard effort. Petey will break out soon, I can feel it! Anyone else wanna see Podzilla in OT? Go Canucks!
  19. Aside from Demko, I didn’t see a lot to be happy with. But, maybe, just maybe, there was hint at the end, that the top 6 just might be getting pissed, and starting to give a sh!t. Finally, a bit of urgency, effort, desire. I know it’s only game 8 of 82, there’s 74 more games to go. But man, it’s frustrating to watch disjointed, mishmashed, disorganized play. And Petey’s stick breaking on a simple pass? Hockey gods are messing with the boy… I…can’t….stand…CBCs…over…the…top…love…with…McDavid…. I’d rather shove a large spike into my eye than listen to one more blurb about how awesome he is…. Practice boys, get your poop in a group, be ready Tuesday. Your fans are getting anxious! Go Canucks!!
  20. Wow! Awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing! Zoidberg and Darth Vader!?!?! Fantastic. Hope you had a blast! Did you happen to notice what local beer they served??? Go Canucks!
  21. Our boys looked like a team playing its 6th road game in a row. I felt effort was there, but too many brain farts and poor execution. I had reserved myself to anticipating yet another historic moment where the Canucks would be a bookmark for another team or player. But somehow, and his name is Thatcher, our Canucks won! And as a fan, I’m sure damn glad that we won’t have to endure any more other teams home opener ceremony. I’m a Canucks fan, and I’ll finally get to watch our team introduced! Go Canucks!
  22. Against Buffalo, I thought a 100% of the team played a sub-par game. Tonight, I thought the defence all played well, with Quinn and Burroughs (way to step up for your teammate bro!) standing out. Some scrambly moments, but much better overall. The forwards on the other hand, I feel half are still sub par, particularly Bo, Petey and Miller (and I’m a huge Bo fan, have the jersey). I know some people said Miller had a good game, but I’m still seeing some bad decision making and poor execution. His effort is there though. Great educational moment from Myers tonight. He turned when he blocked that shot. I explained to my son that the protective gear is on the FRONT, don’t turn! The team must have taken my advise, avoided deep dish pizza. Onto Seattle, avoid deep fried fish and chips and heavy tartar sauce. Enjoy a good microbrew beer after a win though. Go Canucks Go!!!
