  1. Loved the chemistry between Podz and Krav tonight and watching them stick up for each other after whistles felt good!
  2. With how loaded the Leafs are now, hopefully this inflates the value of our tradeable players for teams that want to match the Leafs' firepower. Maybe trading Schenn to the Leafs gives even more incentive for teams to buy high on our guys . Here's hoping!
  3. I'm a Bruce fan. I would also suggest that firing JB and bringing in JR was a huge move of substance. If there was a bad taste between the players and the old management (for a few reasons maybe, including how important vets were mishandled), clearing the slate and bringing in proven management winners could give renewed hope and motivation to the players.
  4. What are you talking about? Let me break down my point to you: a. is getting a 4th for Motte better than letting him walk for nothing after he gives us 18 more games? I think so - do you disagree? b. We can still use a 4th in a negotiation, even if it may only be a sweetener in a deal that could help the club. Do you disagree? If you do not disagree with (a + b), then surely you agree that (c) the pick has some sort of value we could utilize as early as this off season beyond just drafting a player with that pick in 2023 - which was my whole point to the person I responded to who did not seem to consider that, and who felt that 18 more games of Motte was better than getting a 4th. Is a 4th round pick the best asset / trade chip? Obviously not. But it is something.
  5. Curious about that - the value that Motte had now, what was it, exactly? His play for the remaining 18 games? Because after that, he walks - for nothing more than his play during those 18 games. Richardson is a serviceable player who can fill those remaining 18 games and then he walks on his 1 year, $800,000 contract. Off the books and off the cap. And we got him without having to give up any assets whatsoever - we gained a 4th round pick in exchange for 18 games of Motte. Once Richardson is off the books at the end of this season, we can bring up a Lockwood or cheap player to fill in the position if he is ready next season, while having Motte's cap money to spend on upgrading other parts of the team. A 4th round pick is not only a player from the 2023 draft (with a low chance of making it in the NHL), it is also a bargaining chip and an asset for trade negotiations with other teams during the offseason and moving forward. Teams may trade their 2023 picks in order to move up in the upcoming draft, and recouping a 2023 4th could be beneficial to them. The Canucks could also combine the 2023 4th along with a player we want to move for cap reasons and sweeten the deal for another team. A draft pick has value because it offers the POTENTIAL of a good player - it's a bet, and the promise of potential that a pick contains is a valuable asset to trade, not just to use. Getting one in exchange for 18 games of Motte (who I'm a big fan of), is worth it IMO.
  6. I hear what you're saying but many teams "overvalue" picks - it may be more enticing for a team to take on a cap dump player of ours without strings or retention if we can offer a 4th as a sweetener - an off-season or draft day deal, perhaps. Could also be a sweetener in a key off season trade for a young D
  7. Makes sense to me and glad we got something, all things considered. Love Motte - an impact player when healthy and a gamebreaker in the bubble. If his quality of play priced him off this team I'm glad we got a 4th rather than nothing. A 4th could be a sweetener on an off season deal we may make. Stings though!
  8. A truly laughable post dripping with racist undertones (if you can even call them undertones).
  9. Just referring to last game it was probably the ice - I noticed this happening to both teams.
  10. Heavily peated and delicious. One of my absolute favourite scotches.
  11. This really should go without saying but this 50k is what EP has PUBLICALLY donated to charity. Not saying he has donated more than that privately, but for those who criticize the move on the basis of salary % given, perhaps it is possible that not all of his charitable contributions are publicized...? If you accept this premise (and you may not) then maybe it's worth accepting that we dont have all the information about EPs charitable contributions as a whole. And thus, perhaps making negative judgements about him and/or his overall charitable actions on the basis of this 50k contribution is premature and made with snap judgments rather than the full story that we cant see.
  12. How would it benefit him to speak to this media? Anything he says would be analyzed, dissected, and a thousand rumour storylines would be created that are outside of his control. Keeping silent is probably the best PR move for himself and to provide any sense of stability for this organization (regardless how lacking stability may be). I completely get how many fans want to hear some accountability, hope for change, or plan from him, though.
  13. Tanev wasn't traded, he signed with Calgary as a free agent - 'letting him go' rather than 'giving away' would be more accurate to say. But it would be nice having him in the short term, for sure.
  14. I wonder whether refs are calling softer penalties because of how frequently teams will be playing each other. They might be purposely trying to prevent bad blood from escalating by handing out penalties so players dont 'seek justice.' Just a thought
  15. Loved Chatfield's battle. Quick stick, smart, and physical. Looking forward to more from him
