The UCP Alberta Government - Threatens to Turn off Oil Taps
kingofsurrey replied to DonLever's topic in Off-Topic General
Boom and Bust Alberta economy has left many Alberta feeling frustrated and disappointed would be my guess. My niece is a Calgary Lawyer .... would love to move back to BC but the real estate market changes in the last few years have made that process much more difficult. -

Alberta has a decent public education system for sure.... I think Albertans finally realized / had enough of their provincial government wasting so much of their oil revenues and not investing in the long term health of the province.... That is why they voted for better economic management / investment policy of their province with the NDP. -

Looks like more and more Albertans are finally starting to demand a more diversified economy. Probably a sound decision to finally elect a party ( NDP ) that will be more responsible with the Alberta economy / oil revenue. -

Why Alberta / Albertans deserve some decent financial management for a change..... ? -

Nice deflection. More like Albertans have no clue about the oil industry. Only fools would waste all that revenue and not put massive amounts for a rainy day fund and for eventual NEEDED environmental reclaimation projects. When the oil is gone... Alberta will need the investment funds to diversity their economy. -

Alberta wasted all their oil revenue and has next to no money set aside for eventual HUGE costs of environment reclamation of oil project sites. BANKRUPT Province in the future. BTW - Alberta oil is so low quality China only wants it if it priced almost free...... Alberta Cons - Politicians spread so many UNTRUTHS just to try to get elected.. https://thenarwhal.ca/myth-asian-market-alberta-oil/ In 2017, the Port of Vancouver only shipped 600 barrels of oil to China. That’s less than a tanker load. That same year, the port shipped almost 13 million barrels of oil, or about 24 Aframax tanker loads, to the U.S. -

What's lower quality... Edmonton Oilers hockey club or Alberta Oil ? China doesn't even want your poor quality oil . How do Albertans feel about wasting all their oil revenue from the last 25 years ? Such poor management of the provinces resources.... -

BC Liberal Party has destroyed the lower mainland / southern van island communities..... GREED , Greed and more GREED. Hopefully , the party is wiped out next election as people now are seeing the damage that was done....

2 hr commute still puts you in a city where detached homes are approximately 750 000 range for entry level. 50,000 down if you have parents to help you out or are a super saver.... ..... then a . 700 000 dollar mortgage... with is 3800 a month..... Good luck with that.....

Not sure why some people ( servers /bartenders ) should be allowed tax free income while most others pay taxes on all their income...... Doesn't really seem fair to me. I would prefer to have tips billed directly into the price and workers paid a fair hourly wage instead. EG France.

With starter homes in Abby going around 750,000 i think your statement is probably not true....

The BC Real Estate Discussion Thread
kingofsurrey replied to Harvey Spector's topic in Off-Topic General
A real estate market adjustment is what is in the best interest of BC citizens. As long as first time buyers are not flipping and are in for the long run prices will rebound and everything will be fine. I also own real estate so of course a decline affects me personally. March home sales in Metro Vancouver hit a three-decade low, according to the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. The board reported Tuesday that home sales in the region totalled 1,727 in March, a 31.4 per cent decrease from the 2,517 sales recorded in March 2018. Also, the board reports that last month’s sales were 46.3 per cent below the 10-year March sales average and the lowest total for the month since 1986 The composite benchmark price for all residential properties in Metro Vancouver is $1,011,200, a 7.7 per cent drop from March 2018. Only 529 detached homes sold last month, a 26.7 per cent decrease over last March, as the price dropped 10.5 per cent year over year to just over $1.4 million. https://vancouversun.com/business/real-estate/metro-vancouver-home-sales-in-march-hit-three-decade-low-rebgv -
full Automation. are we ready for that?
kingofsurrey replied to aeromotacanucks's topic in Off-Topic General
My local McDonalds used to have 3 cashiers.... They renovated and installed 2 touch screen order machines.. and kept 1 cashier... Now . - no one over the age of 10 uses either of the 2 touchscreens.. Big line ups to use the now ONE human cashier.... Inconclusive but definately not a vote for Automation... -
Such a Juicy story.... Time for a little Notorious BIG
