Should be named slumberland......... yawn. But i guess you like the quiet as you live in a small rural cabin just off Lund Lake ..... But lets get this thread back on topic.... Pipeline news ??? Any heard the latest news about our twinning project....
-
Probably surrey residents priced out moved to Abby / Chilliwack.... now priced out and moving to the Okanagan.... LOL..... No worries.... probably soon price out of Penticton and heading to Northern BC or Alberta....
-
The only reason people move to Penticton is because they are nearing old age.... Could be a good place to retire if you don't enjoy being around people.....
-
Heh Penticton almost made top 30 city in BC at least. came in as number 34 city in BC - same as last year....... LOL 34. Penticton 2017 Rank: 34 Average household income (10%): $82,664 Average household income under 35 (10%): $73,577 Average household spending on recreation (10%): $4,423 Average shelter spending (15%): $20,503 Residents who bike or walk to work (10%): 6.58% Five-year population growth (10%): 0.99% Five-year income growth (25%): 17.78% Unemployment rate (10%): 7.10% https://www.bcbusiness.ca/Best-Cities-for-work-in-BC-2018

A bit of firefighting.... I put out fires involving people in their day to day living.... a problem solver i guess would be accurate..... But Stromer is right... i do have a fetish for Tacoma's.......
-
Yup. Crescent beach and Whiterock are like living in Hawaii.. Best place in Canada to live.
-
Doubt it with all home prices starting now over 1 million per house.... If you sold 2 penticton homes you could think about affording beautiful Surrey..
-
Penticton is a pretty spot 2 months of the year July/August but basically a ghost town with a Dairy Queen as the centre of cultural activities the rest of the year.... So sorry , i like most of BC citizens take a pass on living in the big P . Surrey on the other hand is so great and popular... it is now the fastest growing city in BC and probably in all western canada.
-
You could never afford to buy a house in South Surrey / Crescent beach.... even if you sold your place in the small town of TobaccoCHEW Alberta
-
They put up a Justin Trudeau sucks sign on their lawn at their new place next door to me in South Surrey.... and their F350 sure is noisy when they warm it up these cold winter mornings...... Seem like nice new neighbours so far though... They even told me they support the NRA .... whatever that was supposed to mean....
-
I wonder if James Dean would have vaped instead.....
-
Yah, that truck is like the one my new neighbours drive... they just moved to Surrey from Alberta.... Here is a photo of them.... nice people...

Found a nice commuting vehicle for the KM Global warming supporters posting here... Also great when it is your turn to be the driver taking your buddies out to this weekends tractor pull contest. Ford F 650

Climate change: Warming threatens Himalayan glaciers Climate change poses a growing threat to the glaciers found in the Hindu Kush and Himalayan mountain ranges, according to a new report. The study found that if CO2 emissions are not cut rapidly, two thirds of these giant ice fields could disappear. . The glaciers are a critical water source for 250 million people living across eight different countries https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-47122641

As i get older i am more and more starting to realize that owning less makes me happier..... The less i own.... the less i need to manage. A simpler less complicated life is a happier life... I would most happy if i could give away 90 % of the things i own.

Or is it.,, It's likely that many supporters are coerced by world consumerism, and don't even know it. So, you could be right. The supporters think they are putting their own interests first, but are too easily controlled (weak mental strength?) by Corporations Marketing Departments - with the message of Consumer, Consume Consume... the Bigger the Pickup the better ( IE F 350 is the sign of success ) ..... Of course the Corporate Interests are trying to control our consumer spending / desires for wants..... when actually a simpler less disposable lifestyle would probably make us all happier....

For the excel king....... PORT CANCELS COAL TRANSFER FACILITY AT FRASER SURREY DOCKS A contentious coal facility planned at Fraser Surrey Docks has been scuttled by the Port of Vancouver. A posting on the port’s website states it has “cancelled project permit No. 2012-072-01, previously issued to Fraser Surrey Docks LP (FSD) to develop a direct transfer coal facility at FSD.” In 2014, the port approved a plan for coal to be loaded onto barges for transport to Texada Island on to ships bound for Asia. The project was amended in 2015 to allow for direct loading onto ocean-going ships in the Fraser River. The company argued that the change would have meant 80 ships compared with 640 barges on the lower Fraser, including arrivals and departures, but communities such as Surrey and New Westminster remained adamantly opposed to the project https://thetyee.ca/

Your opinion is your own... one person's. The guy pan handling at granville and robson's opinion may be better formed than yours..... Sorry MATE..... A group of climate experts published a letter detailing the climate impacts of the proposed tripling of the Trans Mountain pipeline which carries oilsands diluted bitumen and other fuels from Alberta to the Port of Vancouver. The group represents 27 climate experts – a mix of economists, scientists and political and social scientists – from major British Columbian universities who were recently rejected from the pipeline hearing process because they proposed to discuss the project’s significance for global climate change. The ability to look at an issue from a single viewpoint really says alot about you and whatever education ( lack of education ) you claim to have.... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/alberta-ecology-professor-sides-with-b-c-on-pipeline-1.4542335 Climate change commitments It's not just scientific research and answers that are lacking, Schindler says, but also commitment to promises during the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Paris. "From what I see, we are not taking this commitment very seriously at all," he said. "We are taking a very 'head in the sand' approach to the problem." He says ventures to more renewable sources of energy, particularly geothermal, and away from the oil and gas industry are key to moving forward.

Thought this was a Kinder Morgan Pipeline thread.... CHAMP I guess engineers have pretty lame / weak reading comprehension skills...... least it was that way when i was back in Uni....

Tar sands is slightly preferable to coal.... but CLEAN energy is preferable to both.
