  1. How would bitumen spilled into our coastal communites waters result in cheaper gas.... Fin is not smiling with your post....... If someone sneaks into your backyard and takes a dump in your swimming pool.... see how much you like that...
  2. Totally agree. Automation is going to take over so much manufacturing. I toured a few local shops this year... so interesting to see robots working 24 /7 including holidays..... robots don't call in sick too often either. I have a young guy i know finishing a degree in Electrical Engineering... the world will be his oyster..... The world is changing so quickly........ I really don't see Tar sands oil industry being around in 25 years...... Hopefully climate change . can be slowed down or better yet eliminated. Without these kinds of changes the human species is doomed. Adapt or die. Are humans intelligent to even comprehend what is facing us....?
  3. Same argument workers had when the VHS cassette factories were closing down... Tar sands oil is a dead / dying industry. The sooner it shuts down the better. The time to invest in green renewable energy is now. Canada should be a leader in Green energy.
  4. Millenials don't even own can openers.... too much work for the lazy kids... LOL Yup salmon stocks on the fraser rivers and its tribs are collapsing..... So sad to see.
  5. Yah, but what about me getting cheap gas..... I never like Fin and his circle of friends anyways..... Wild salmon.... who cares... Costco sells some crappy farmed stuff that tastes like cardboard..... Climate change.... it's just a myth....
  6. Very simplistic analysis There are many reasons why west coast salmon are heading to extinction. Global warming is certainly one of the leading causes in the decline of our salmon. The time to act is now Climate change: Arctic reindeer numbers crash by half BBC News, Washington DC Share this with Facebook Share this with Messenger Share this with Twitter Share this with Email Share The population of wild reindeer, or caribou, in the Arctic has crashed by more than half in the last two decades. A new report on the impact of climate change in the Arctic revealed that numbers fell from almost 5 million to around 2.1 million animals.
  7. Time to start arresting a few more Chinese investors living in Canada..... If China wants to play that game... bring it on.
  8. Any development in BC that puts the resident Orca's into risk of extinction is an automatic NO Go in our province. Bitument shipping is in the category. So its a no for tanker expansion of Dirty Bitumen in BC coastal waters.
  9. This make you happier... https://www.reuters.com/article/usa-oil-climatesuits/san-francisco-oakland-sue-oil-firms-alleging-climate-change-costs-idUSL2N1M11LR
  10. Dream on dreamer https://thewalrus.ca/should-oil-companies-be-on-the-hook-for-climate-change-costs/ Last September, San Francisco and Oakland filed separate lawsuits against five oil companies, seeking billions for the cost of sea-level rise. And this month, New York City announced it was suing BP, ExxonMobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, and Shell for damages associated with multi-billion dollar storms and sea-level rise.
  11. Great another climate change denier..... awesome .
  12. I agree with your post in general of course. The near extinction of Chinook salmon is of course the real issue... But i don't think people harassing whales and stressing them out is really of any benefit to the whales either. But of course climate change / ocean temp is probably the real issue. I remember being in the water on G strait as a kid and having Orca's swim out to our boat... Such a beautiful animal. Such a big part of BC and i really hope we can in some way help save them from extinction........
  13. Sorry Alf. Not true. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/whale-watching-found-to-stress-out-whales/Whale-Watching Found to Stress Out Whales Although collisions with boats can hurt the animals, researchers are more concerned about effects such as animals failing to feed or using up energy swimming away from the vessels. These seemingly small events can add up, studies suggest
  14. While Canadians watch resident Orca's move towards extinction..... At least the Yanks make commitments to save a species.... Canadians only talk the talk... and are afraid to actually protect our species / environment.... https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/washington-governor-inslee-proposes-1-1b-to-help-starving-orcas SHAREADJUSTCOMMENTPRINT OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is proposing $1.1 billion in spending — and a partial whale-watching ban — to help support the recovery of Puget Sound’s critically endangered orcas.
  15. Did the mayor ask that people consume less oil / oil products or.......... did the mayor ask that oil companies / governments actually set aside more money to compensate those that are negatively affected by oil consumption....... especially dirty oil like Bitumen.
  16. The mayor of Whistler has a responsibility to the citizens of Whistler. Good for him for doing his job. Why should Alberta and Albertas get a free ride for the damage that province is doing to the rest of our country..?
  17. The earth is going into a critical phase... change the way we live immediately.... or else we doom our future generations with a planet that is uninhabitable.... That is not hypocritical... that is being a realist.... Humans need to adapt..... or perish....
  18. Dirty Bitumen oil revenues will never recover the true costs associated with its production. Keep the toxic carbon sludge in the ground where it belongs...
  19. Great news... Its about time the Dirty Albertans started to pay up for all the TRUE / Full . costs associated with Climate Change..... The municipality of Whistler, B.C., is asking the oil and gas industry to pay its “fair share” by chipping in for budget costs related to climate change. https://theprovince.com/news/local-news/whistler-wants-albertan-oil-and-gas-company-to-pay-for-resorts-climate-change-costs/wcm/c618f916-8394-4f51-a1ac-9695f02ae7d1 In a letter addressed to Calgary-based Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. dated Nov. 15, Whistler Mayor Jack Crompton said the town’s taxpayers “are paying 100 per cent of the costs” associated with climate change events such as “drought, flooding, and extreme weather.” He’s asking CNRL to pay in to “the costs of climate change being experienced by Whistler,” including the municipalities’ “$1.4 million investment in community wildfire protection activities” for 2018.
  20. China accuses CDN Government of human rights violation by the arrest.......... Thats rich..........
  21. Grade inflation continues at some private schools . Significant discrepancies between marks for course work and provincial exams; mostly among international students https://www.timescolonist.com/news/b-c/grade-inflation-continues-at-some-private-schools-1.1829688
  22. Giving foreign students BC graduation credit / diplomas whether they can or can not master the BC curriculum..... Looks like a money grab to many........ Is BC the most corrupt North American jurisdiction other than Mexico ?
  23. Chinese buy homes in Canada in an attempt to get / expediate Canadian citizenship.
  24. Yah crappy built products with slave labour and zero environmental protections...... China has us over a barrel. LOL.
  25. Yup, every single Walmart item to have a 5% price increase. That will really crush us here in Canada.
