  1. A legend.... Pat Quinn went to a Boston bar after knocking out Bobby Orr in a game… For a moment, Quinn had forgotten where he was and what he had done the night before, and he thought it might be his final mistake. Quinn was a rookie with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and death threats or no death threats, was expected to fetch the beer for the bus ride. He did what was expected. Down the street from the Garden, a sportsbar was overflowing with Bruin fans, hard-nosed Bostonians who had been at the game and been angry the great Orr had not played. And the man responsible stepped through the front door - through their front door and into their bar. Quinn edged through the crowd toward the bartender when a shout came from behind him. “Hey, it’s Quinn! It’s Quinn!” The big rookie froze. How could he have been so stupid, so careless? He looked for an escape route. No chance. People were wedged six deep around him. In the tense silence, he waited for the first fist, or bottle or worse. A hand came at him, but instead of going for Quinn’s granite jaw, landed squarely on his back. Then another. “Nice hit, Patty boy. Nice hit.” The men around him smiled, and Quinn felt blessed to be Irish-Catholic in an Irish-Catholic town. “On the house,” the bartender said.
  2. OK i can solve this discussion. Both the Flames and the Canucks suck this year. Canucks will improve in the future though..... Calgary Flames are going to sink into the swamp as their core players are past their prime.
  3. Would rather our club be clearly out of the playoffs by the deadline.... then move a few vets for picks and / or prospects. Create more younger depth in our club. This is not our year. Canucks are still a few years away from going deep in the playoffs. Now is the time to create more depth in our organization. I don't want a couple of home playoff games every 2-3 years. I want the CUP.
  4. Canucks are tied right now for 2nd most losses this season of any team in the NHL . Our club clearly is a hot mess right now. I agree the future could be bright for our club as long as our next GM doesn't overpay and give up too much term for broken down declining older vets discarded from their former teams.
  5. Signing older broken down vets to overpayed UFA contracts with too much term.... well that was never the best idea.... I guess it did keep Dim Benning employed ... so in the end it was a great plan for Benning... Just bad for the clubs fans that want a cup. Linden is probably happy not being involved right now in this hot mess.
  6. Chillliwack Cattle mllks 2800 cows..... i am serious...... FACTORY model of Dairy...
  7. Buying local will the biggest trend going forward. That much is certain. Places like Walmart can go get lost.....

  9. Can someone good with photo shop add Bennings photo to this gif.... ?
  10. Such a crazy career for this guy... 4 years in the WHL ... then 4 years of Canadian CIS hockey... then a few years in Europe... then makes the SHOW ( NHL ) at close to 29 yrs old ... What a strange journey....
  11. Yah i see your point. I have been very fortunate to have been able to spend quite a bit of time in Quebec. Such an amazing province and the Francophone culture is so proud and strong. Preservation of the French language is paramount to preserving their culture. Any act that weakens the french langauge in that province is a no go. Yes winning a Cup there is super imporant. Quebec is the place in Canada with the strongest love of hockey in my opinion... but one thing even more important that a cup in Quebec is...... for the preservation of the French Language / French culture. Again this is my opinion from my time i have spent there. Great to discuss with you and we can keep our own opinions. I like how we can discuss without trashing each others opinions.
  12. Quebec is a very unique province. Language is a primary / fundamental concern to its citizens. The Montreal Canadiens head coach must speak both English and French. Montreal has the second-most native French speakers in the world. The major city in the province of Quebec is the center of French-Canadian culture. The city needs media available in both French and English, and therefore the Canadiens deal with media in both languages. If the head coach cannot speak both languages, then he cannot effectively communicate with the media. His connection to the entire fanbase would then be impaired. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1237613-montreal-canadiens-6-qualities-an-ideal-habs-coach-must-possess#:~:text=The major city in the, effectively communicate with the media.
  13. Have you ever spent time or lived in the Quebec ? Just curious. The Montreal Canadiens head coach must speak both English and French. 14. Quebec is a French Speaking province. Anyone that wants to work in Quebec in a high profile position.... needs to be able to speak somewhat in French.
  15. Pretty sure every NHL coach needs to address the local media..... fans demand it.
  16. Why is it silly..? The montreal market is primarily French speaking... so they want a coach to do media events in French...Needs to be bi-lingual.... Would you like a Canucks coach that speaks French.... and not any English..... Makes sense to me that the habs need a coach that speaks some French.
  17. Company's say 4 week between shots is recommended and research has supported..... so BC a says 4 months between is the way to go... Really ????? The United States must stick to a two-dose strategy for the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, top U.S. infectious disease official Anthony Fauci told the Washington Post. Fauci said that delaying a second dose to inoculate more Americans creates risks. COVID-19 has claimed more than half a million lives in the United States, and states are clamouring for more doses to stem cases, hospitalizations and deaths. But Fauci warned that shifting to a single-dose strategy for the vaccines could leave people less protected, enable variants to spread and possibly boost skepticism among Americans already hesitant to get the shots.
  18. Canucks will be out of playoffs. Edler agrees to be traded at the deadline to playoff team.... and in return the Canucks bring him back for a 2 yr deal.
