#BrokenBC more bad news #bced and you know South Korea, everybody wears masks and they even have plexiglass barriers so really, doesn't bode well...#BackToSchool @koryodynasty · 17m Breaking: All schools in greater Seoul area, except final year of high school, ordered to switch to online classes from tomorrow until Sept. 11. In the past 2 weeks, 150 students and 43 school workers in the area have tested positive for COVID-19. twitter.com/yonhaptweet/st…

Dr Henry's logic KIds in groups on beach - unsafe Kids in groups in classroom all day no windows = safe kids on ferry - capable of wearing masks and social distance Kids in classrooms - not capable of wearing masks or social distancing. We need BC schools reopened in Sept. If it can be done properly.... they can even stay open.... When Manitoba can spend double of BC on Sept reopenings .... really ? Many BC parents will remember how they and their families have been treated next BC election.......

Kinda predicable that the Canucks would come out game 1 agains Vegas pretty flat after the big series win over defending cup champ St. Louis Really not much of a surprise as the kids over achieved a bit and probably were very emotional after closing out their series. Vegas has way more playoff experience and probably were just more balanced / prepared for game 1. Look for a different Canucks team to show up for GAME 2. This is a must win game for the Canucks and the whole Canuck team will be flying...

Vegas won round 1. But this fight has MANY more rounds..... Canucks are coming out hard in game 2 and lets see what happens. Canucks PP is pretty lethal so we just need to draw a few early penalities and play with a lead for a bit. This series is FAR from over. Canucks win game 2 and it GAME ON again.....

Since BC schools do not require any kind of social distancing for students / staff.... Can BC schools now RENT out their classrooms / gyms for large social gatherings.. eg conferences / weddings / / rock concerts / parties / large church events ?

Superstore and Walmart have better safety plans in place for September than our BC schools...... wow....

Hot off the press -today on BBC. Dr. B needs to follow the WHO ... don't you think.. ? The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued guidance saying children over the age of 12 should wear masks, in line with recommended practice for adults in their country or area. It admits little is known about how children transmit the virus but cites evidence that teenagers can infect others in the same way as adults. Children aged five and under should not normally wear masks, the WHO said. More than 800,000 people have now died with coronavirus worldwide. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-53877292

According to Dr. B Kids can only get together in large groups at school.... where it is then very safe... Beach = unsafe Poor ventilated room with no windows = safe
-
Lots of highschools have classrooms without windows. Poor ventilation in school classrooms is also another major issue.
-
Well now ... BC superstores are now safer than BC schools.... WOW our kids deserve better........... BC has the worst school restart plan of any canadian province.... why ? Real Canadian Superstore is the latest company to make masks mandatory in its stores. Masks will be needed at all locations starting next Saturday. The company has about 30 stores in BC. @NEWS1130

Also today. - healthy young person with no underlying conditions... Very sad to read this. Montreal teen dies of COVID-19, becoming Quebec's first under-20 victim https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/montreal-teen-dies-of-covid-19-becoming-the-first-under-20-victim-in-quebec

Sorry but BC highschools do sometimes have classrooms with no windows. BC schools clean - are you serious ? BC worksafe regulations should apply to schools. School staff are BC workers... schools should not be exempt from BC worksafe regs.... Yes, the opening of BC schools needs to happen... BUT it needs to happen in a way that keeps kids and staff safe. Just so you know what we all don't want to see happen here.... At least 41 schools in Berlin have reported that students or teachers have become infected with the coronavirus not even two weeks after schools reopened in the German capital. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/world/article-coronavirus-cases-reported-at-41-schools-in-berlin/

I agree schools opening is. good thing... Just don't put our kids and school staffs at risk of dying please. BC gov needs to spend the money and do it right ( safe ) This time the BC gov needs to at least buy each classroom a bottle of hand sanitizer... as a minimum safety item. 30 -32 kids and adults in a poorly ventilated room all day .. no windows.. no masks... no PPE makes no sense. I wonder if the BC Fed of Labour gets involved to protect school staff' lives. Job action in Sept is a very real possiblity.... so then unionized parents may be off anyways...

90 cases today. Trend is upwards. Not good.

One thing that many parents may not understand is that while vaccinations are highly effective and greatly decrease the chance of getting a preventable disease, according to the CDC, depending on the vaccine, about 1% to 5% who are vaccinated fail to develop immunity When enough people are vaccinated against a certain disease, the germs can’t travel as easily from person to person and the entire community is less likely to get the disease. This concept is known as “herd immunity” or “community immunity” https://shotofprevention.com/2011/04/12/why-worry-about-the-unvaccinated/

https://news.gallup.com/poll/317018/one-three-americans-not-covid-vaccine.aspx But many Americans appear reluctant to be vaccinated, even if a vaccine were FDA-approved and available to them at no cost. Asked if they would get such a COVID-19 vaccine, 65% say they would, but 35% would not. The results are based on July 20-Aug. 2 polling in Gallup's COVID-19 tracking survey,

However, this does not mean Japan has the disease under control. One cause for concern is the rising number of critically ill patients. As of August 18, there were 243 severe cases, a threefold increase compared to the beginning of the month. Coronavirus cases in Japan started to surge again in June and July. New infections centered on nightlife entertainment districts in major cities, although people in their twenties and thirties accounted for many of the cases and symptoms tended to be mild. However, infections within households and clusters at hospitals and facilities for seniors are increasing. This has led to a higher proportion of older people being infected, which is thought to be driving the rise in severe cases. https://www.nippon.com/en/japan-data/h00799/

Sounds pretty much exactly like BC actually... I never realized that a virus prefered to attack people that are poor... Does covid have access to our banking info ? Did you see this on Fox news ? 20.3% In 2016, the child poverty rate in British Columbia was 20.3%, as measured by Statistics Canada's Census Family Low Income Measure (CFLIM) after income taxes, using taxfiler data. This represents 172,550, or one in five, BC children 0-17 years old living in poverty.Nov 5, 2018

Schools across eight counties in Mississippi opened their doors to students and teachers on August 17. One day later, 2,035 students and 589 teachers were quarantined for two weeks after being exposed to the coronavirus, the local CBS affiliate WJTV reported. State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs said that 199 students and 245 teachers across 71 counties have been infected by COVID-19. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/mississippi-quarantines-more-2-000-224528239.html
