Suddenly Benning doesn’t seem so bad
-
Wonder if you could swing Myers (25%retained) + Lockwood for Puljujarvi+Ceci.
Saves Edmonton money. Gives us an equally good slightly younger defensemen and a middle six winger.

I just think we are already are one of the best teams in the league on the wing. Somehow we need to improve the defence and subtract to add doesn’t help unless we are getting some big shot. Tough to do but hopefully they figure something out. A trade like this could works if we had a secondary trade in place to move out a winger and bring in another RH defencemen
-
I wouldn't say it's subtracting to add help; Myers costs 2x of what Ceci does, so in essence you're getting Myers for half price by getting Ceci, then if/ when Poolparty's value improves (e.g. if they put him on PP 1 and he starts scoring) then we could flip his $3 million contract to address defensive needs (with injuries, inevitably some team will want a winger, either Miller or Poolparty or someone else, and we'd have a prime asset to flip for that RD from a desperate team e.g. if the Islanders don't land Kadri and still have scoring issues, we could flip Poolparty say for Mayfield).

Everyone out hear trying to trade Rathbone for pretty much nothing. How about we give the kid some NHL games before saying he's too small or poor defensively. How many of you have actually watched him instead of just looking at his stats/ height weight metrics?

@Alflives I am concerned if new management groups want to clear out old inventory, in an attempt of some sorts to get rid of the remnants of the old regime.
There's nothing wrong with Dipietro, Woo, and Bones. They're all prospects, except maybe Bones, who's as close to show time as anyone else.

Prediction- NyR and Canucks are working on something big
-
Waiting....waiting....waiting
-
Im surprised no one is talking about Pearson being moved. Honestly think he's one of the more likely to move. Has had a good season, only 1 point behind Garland and is on a cheaper contract. He doesn't really fit the mold this team wants to go as well. Pearson reunited in LA? Toronto?
-
@Chickenspear He might say yes to LA if LA was interested in him.
-
Trade some of these guys. Cant keep watching such an inconsistent team. Boeser, Pearson, Hamonic, Myers, Chiasson, Hunt, Halak, Dickenson.... Fire sale this team, get some young prospects coming back. Id trade anyone on this team right now not named Pettersson, Hughes, Podz, Demko.
-
Well at least the upcoming drafts are looking promising
-
I wonder if we see Juolevi draw back into game action now that he doesn't have a chance of becoming Seattle expansion eligible.

rafferty was under contract during his college year in 2018/2019.
“Professional Games” includes the following: any NHL Games played, all minor league regular season and playoff games and any other professional games played, including but not limited to, games played in any European league or any other league outside North America, by a Player pursuant to his SPC
so minor league games counted too! according to the cba
i do not understand why teves would be considered eligible, because his contract was signed after the college year finished.
still there may be a source that you are referring to that goes against the CBA?
-
From your article: “Pursuant to his SPC” - standard player contract.
Rafferty did not have an NHL contract in college. College is not a pro league either but an amateur league.
Tryamkin is still Canuck property as RFA but is exempt because his years in the KHL don’t count as he is not under an SPC/NHL contract so only has 2 pro seasons.
Also “For the purpose of this section”. There are different definitions of age, pro years throughout the CBA. They are using the waiver definition of pro years for expansion.
Teves, Rafferty same situation as Fabbro. 1 game while Hughes as teenager needed 10 NHL games.

You could tell Hogz was pissed he didn't get put out in the final minute to try and get the hatty!
Green is such a clueless joke. WIN Win win...

please get rid of roussel sutter eriksson edler beagle vesey boyd myers holtby what a waste of 34mill go with the kids
-
I wonder about Green. Is his tactic to make sure the young players don't get a big ego? Is he trying to keep them grounded and humble, to be team players instead of trying to reach personal goals? Whatever he's doing seems to be a bit of a mind game. If he's a part of their future core, Hogz should've been out there. He's been their best player. Green sucks.
-
I always liked Juulsen's game. Wouldn't be surprised to see someone pick him up off waivers.
-
Any chance someone on here works in immigration? Fiancee was sent back her permanent resident application without a letter/list explaining anything. Just trying to figure out if this is common.
If anyone on here can help it would be appreciated as the government site is not very good at providing info to questions such as this
-
Why is everyone trying to trade our developed/almost developed prospects. Lets just trade Juolevi Virtanen and Gaudette....
Let the team grow. Our window is long if were patient

@#Canucks I get what you mean by he's probably going to click soon, but the streakiness/ lack of consistency might need a Grabner-type trade to really light a fire under him. If benching/ relegating to extra forward and getting called out by coach for your lack of effort doesn't do it (esp. when you get beaten by an undrafted free agent), not sure what else could be done since we can't send him to minors. Of course he won't have optimal value now but we should recoup what we can if he's not going to have optimal deployment and coach's trust (maybe send J.T. Miller after him for being lazy and have him skate with Pete to see what true consummate professionals do?).

@Phil_314 I’m not sure what the answer will be but I have this feeling he’s looking for something in his personal life. He has the skill & size and he knows how to play. When he is motivated he’s absolutely awesome to watch. He may have personal insecurities that will only go away with maturity but I do think maturity is the key with him. Time will tell whether that is here in Van or somewhere else.

The only way I don't see this year being a success is if the playoffs get cancelled due to Covid. Losing our 1st round pick and not gaining all the playoff experience we can would hurt

Any advise for someone buying their first house?

Coastal, it wasn't my intent to "disparage an entire industry".
I just wanted to stress the importance of bringing in someone who understands the actual structure from foundation to peak and is actually allowed to remove/move materials in order to make those assessments.
The home inspector didn't find anything other than some funky DIY sink plumbing in the bathroom, two electrical sockets that weren't up to code because they were too close to the floor, and he recommended hard wired smoke detectors. All of those things had already been identified by the time he came through anyways.
@RetroCanuck - tldr: be diligent in the inspection stage. Get your tradesperson friends to take a look and buy em scotch for it. If you dont have those kinds of friends, look for referrals for a good contractor who does inspections. I believe most will as it gets them a foot in the door with a new homeowner who will most likely be doing renos.
-
Pay for a home inspection and make sure it is by a responsible company, that way you will have a list of projects that should be addressed in time.
Put a bit of extra money aside because there is always something to give you a headache and unless you are super handy or a contractor you will need that cash for something.
Always make sure you can handle the mortgage without starving.
Get used to not having extra money to go here and there, but once you start to build equity the banks will love you.
Talk to people in the neighborhood if you get a chance to find out a little about the place you are going to purchase(was it a drug house, was someone murdered there,is it a good neighborhood for kids etc.)
GOOD LUCK!
-
For myself it doesn't really matter what happens the rest of the year. We make the playoffs, Im happy. We get a top 15 draft pick in a deep draft, Im happy. This team is playing competitive games in March primarily off the play of our younger core players. Not to mention Hughes is having an astonishing year and should win the Calder
-
Me too...I feel exactly the same way. I've seen some GREAT games this year and I'll feel bad for the team if they don't get in, but also commend them on a great effort.
There have been some good takeaways from the year. Still not counting them out, but it's a bad time to hit a skid so very well could end up that way in a tight race. -
there's no point in setting your hair on fire and freaking out over the team, is going to do what its going to do at this point. Calling for coaching changes, etc. is just silly.
Their fate is still in their hands despite the latest road bumps too.
If they do fall short its also very easy to see what changes are needed, thankfully its not much.

This game should be a wake up call to Canucks fans as to how this is a transitional year.
Now is not the future folks. The Canucks have a bright one ahead, but let the young kids grow
-
So Stoked for the Canucks budding young stars to make the jump in the next couple years! Dreaming of a potential lineup like
Hoglander-Pettersson-Podkolzin
Miller-Horvat-Boeser
Virtanen-Gaudette-Lind
Gadjovich-Madden-MacEwen
Hughes-Woo
Juolevi-Myers
Rathbone-Rafferty
Demko
DiPietro
-
Well 2019 was a good year for me. Graduated university, got engaged and saw the continued growth of the Canucks young core. And no those aren't all equal . Heres hoping to good years for all of CDC in 2020!
Happy New Years!
-
I can see Virtanen and Gaudette being on the same line for years. They bring a lot of speed, energy and some physicality. Add a Lind or Gadjovich in when Roussel retires and we have a solid third line for years to come!
-
-
That 3rd Toronto goal was the worst Ive seen Hughes in his own zone
-
Am I the only one that really dislike the lotto line nickname?
- Show previous comments 3 more

@Brad Marchand It's just when you say lotto, luck is pretty much the next word you'd think of. I understand the whole 6/49 thing, but jackpot is kinda more of a fitting description of how that line actually plays.
-
Canucks just don't have enough star power. Some of our young generation will evolve into the players we need, but a top 10 pick and another 1st would set this team up for years
-
The Coyotes don't have enough starpower, the Islanders don't have enough starpower. What separates them from us is they battle relentlessly all the time and have good coaching staff. I'm tired of this "we need more starpower" BS, it doesn't fix the team playing sloppy and having stale systems that don't work. Also, knowing Green, whatever starpower we get in the future will be mismanaged and someone like Leivo will have more one-time than the star.
