  1. Personally Im almost more excited about this pick then Pod! Kid has so much speed, agility and compete that I can see making defenders look bad for years to come. Here's hoping he continues to develop and can push for a spot next year! We really need a couple top 6 winger prospects to succeed
  2. I like those picks the most and think Mcdonough has the potential to be added to that list as well
  3. I don't disagree but Miller is a proven top 6 guy that can help us now and in the future. In his contract year he could fetch a pretty penny!
  4. Would have to clear waivers I believe, but that would be a huge add down there. Maybe San Jose plans to pick him up once waived?
  5. Weird trade by them in my opinion. Moving up late in the draft seems redundant, unless they really wanted Pyatt Perron could definitely be a blackhorse player to steal a spot this year.
  6. I think that contract is a pretty low estimate. Id expect AAV to be around 5.5. Either way he would be a great guy to sign. Unfortunately we have too much of a logjam of middle 6 forwards. If we wanted to sign more FA UFA's we'd need to trade at least one or two of Baer, Pearson, Sutter, Beagle, Leivo, Roussel
  7. Yep, would like to see Sutter shifted to the wing on our shutdown line. Free up Jake to play on a line with a younger skilled centre. Miller-Pettersson-Boeser Pearson-Horvat-UFA (Connoly) Leivo-Gaudette-Virtanen Baertschi-Beagle-Sutter Motte
  8. Juolevi, Woo, Tryamkin, Rafferty, Brisebois, Chatfield are all at least 6ft. Thats not a small defense. The key for St. Louis was that they had at least some big guys that could handle the big forwards. Juolevi, Woo, Tryamkin, Brisebois, Chatfield, are all more then capable of that job
  9. JB does have faith in that group I mentioned, thats why he didn't specifically draft more prospect defensemen this year. He's trying to improve the D as it is now because its letting us down. Edler/Tanev to injury prone. Hutton's inconsistency. Underperforming players in the past such as Guddy and Pouliot. He's trying to make us deeper now so our prospects have time to develop and aren't rushed. Edler-Tanev Hughes-Stecher Hutton-Myers Honestly that D group is still pretty poor, but if healthy its serviceable. My hope is that by the deadline Juolevi and Rafferty show they are ready for some NHL minutes allowing for the trades of Hutton and Tanev.
  10. BPA and skill is often the best attribute to choose in a draft because its unteachable. Woo, Stecher, Rafferty and Chatfield are all right shot D. Tryamkin is comfortable on both sides but your right he might be best suited on the left in the future Id also add that Woo may be closer then you think. Kid has an NHL ready body and plays a style that is close to NHL ready. He will be the top D in Calgary this year which may make him NHL ready for the following season
  11. Man this kid has some slick hands!
  12. Considering we gave him his second chance, Im disappointed he's not signing with us. I mean all the power to him, but I know if a team allowed for me to change my career path, Id probably sign back with them if they wanted me back and could offer a full time spot.
  13. Difference being we have a lot of quality prospect defensemen. Hughes will be a top 4. Juolevi, Tryamkin and Woo could and most likely will be top 4D. Stecher is a top 4. Rathbone, Rafferty, Teves, Brisebois and Chatfield could all turn out to be NHL defensemen. Therefore what we need now may not be what we need in a couple years time. Hughes and Juolevi will be integrated into the NHL this year with a good chance that Tryamkin and Woo could be added to the lineup in a years time
  14. I personally think Virtanen will score 20 goals this year and put up 40 points. I saw a lot of positive development from him last year and I think he's about to take a big step. Personally I really hope we don't trade him
  15. I agree with those 3 you mentioned as they were my top 3 on the list. I do think Marky has a good chance of being traded if Demko shows well for the first half of the year. Out of your bubble players Id keep Goldy and Motte. Id waive/ trade(if possible) schaller, granny, spooner and Eriksson. I can see us starting the year with a fresh new lineup Goldy/Baertschi-Pettersson-Boeser Pearson-Horvat-Miller Leivo-Gaudette-Virtanen Motte-Beagle-Sutter Honestly I hope we don't sign any UFA forwards this free agency. We have too much term and money locked up in redundant players as it is. Need to be patient and let our kids develop and take spots in the lineup. Im expecting Gaudette, MacEwen and Jasek(or Lind) to get a lot more NHL games in this year
  16. Great pick, did not think he would be there when we picked so bonus! Considering Jims success recently in the top couple rounds of the draft Id hope he tries to acquire a couple more high end picks for next draft. Whether thats taking a bad contract or trading some of our veterans throughout the year. Also really hoping we miss the playoffs this year so we don't surrender that 1st in a very strong draft Tanev_______2nd+prospect Sutter_______2nd Baertschi____2nd Pearson_____1st Beagle______2nd Roussel_____1st Markstrom___1st+ prospect Not saying we should or will trade all these guys, but all could be traded for the right price this year depending on their play. Hopefully we can stay a little more healthy this year!
  17. I really like this pick for us. Kid has so much speed and skill! Him and Petey toying with the opposition in a year or two will be fun to watch! In 2 years time we might be watching a top 9 resembling this... Hoglander-Pettersson-Podkolzin Virtanen-Horvat-Boeser Miller-Gaudette-Lind
  18. Hughes, Juolevi, Woo, Tryamkin, Rathbone, Stecher, Rafferty, Brisebois and Chatfield Good depth of quality defensemen prospects. Hughes-Woo Juolevi-Stecher Tryamkin-Rafferty Rathbone-Chatfield
  19. Assuming Hughes, Demko and Gaudette have officially graduated and Tryamkin is exempt from this list. 1. Podkolzin 2. Juolevi 3. Woo 4. Madden 5. Hoglander 6. DiPietro 7. Lind 8. Rathbone 9. Karlsson 10. Keppen 11. MacEwen 12. Rafferty 13. Gadjovich 14. Jasek 15. Lockwood 16. Brisebois 17. Chatfield 18. Perron 19. Teves 20. Palmu Thats a pretty decent prospect list. Don't know exactly how our later 2019 draft prospects will play out, but Im glad we grabbed a lot of them and they all seem to have many of the tools needed to succeed
  20. Is producing more NHL players for us for sure compared to our actual farm...
  21. When you dont know whether to walk away because you fear the worst or wait excitedly hoping its a somewhat redeeming trade
  22. That trade screams Benning wanting to save his ass and entertain the crowd.

With that said it could be a trade that works out well for us in the long run, but Miller will have to consistently score 20 goals

    1. Tystick

      Tystick

I think his goal has always been to make the playoffs and draft well.

Now we have a good chance to do that, and depending on his future trades and signings, it may be guaranteed.

If we make the playoffs, our 2020 1st would be 16-31.

Those picks can always be reacquired realistically IMO.
