  1. Perfectly said, its encouraging to see the skills this guy has and the way he skates...wow. He also didn't look terribly out of place in our prospects camp either, made some nice plays (besides getting dangled by Pettersson, but who doesn't he dangle!). A very raw long term project but he has the tools to succeed so we will just have to wait and see.
  2. Hard for a guy his size to excel in a third/fourth line role. In my mind he needs to be a second liner to succeed. But who knows, the games changing all the time.
  3. I hope he makes it! At least then there will be one Canucks prospect to follow in the Olympics. Disappointed Pettersson, Gaudette and Juolevi didnt get the chance but they are succeeding so you've got to be excited!
  4. McEneny is a LD and I think he's going to push very hard for a spot next year
  5. Agreed and he can play down the lineup and be successful. Unlike guys like Dahlen and Pettersson who need to be in more top 6 roles. My guess is Juolevi has a spot on the team as well though. I can see 2 of Hutton, Edler(prefer) and MDZ traded this deadline and offseason. Leaving room for Pouliot and Juolevi in our top 6 next season. Holm or McEneny as our 7th D.
  6. Id leave Zack in Utica to start next season. Let him continue to develop and hone his defensive game. We are going to be a $&!#e team next year anyways so sign some one year UFAs and call guys like Zack up at the deadline or when trades are made. The only guys that should be on our team next year are the ones that need to clear waivers. Such as Goldy.
  7. Send Virtanen to Utica tomorrow when you activate Bo. He's just not showing consistency and the style of game we need him to play. Better for him to get top minutes down there and some confidence back.

@kingofsurrey You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. We'd be the Arizona Coyotes (maybe even worse) without the Sedins.

    3. Cramarossa

      Cramarossa

Danny is on a five game point streak, with seven points in his last 10 games. Hank just ended a five game streak himself. They are contributing more than many others. It's time for the youngsters (and goalies) to step up; they haven't.

    4. J-23

      J-23

Virtanen needs to know he's still competing for a spot, should be working on his game all the time, on breaks, off-season etc. Working hard, because he ain't going to be getting many more opportunities, and I've been the biggest Virt fan.

  8. BOOM! What a hit! A little late but shows his feisty aggressive style, and you've got to look forward to that coming to our team!
  9. Apparently Pouliot has been battling a hand injury. https://twitter.com/DhaliwalSports/status/954814037803462656 Makes sense as to why he's been out of the lineup so long. Looking forward to seeing him play more. I see a Hutton or Edler trade coming.
  10. haha resign BENNING!! You never know with prospects but I could see Lind making an NHL debut as soon as next year assuming he's in Utica. Cant wait to see what this kid becomes for us!
  11. Assuming not First overall in draft.

    1. Boqvist

    2. K'Andre Miller

    3. Filip Johansson

    4. Sean Durzi

And the defensive prospect pool is fixed

  12. From what Ive read on him he's more likely to be a 3rd/4th round pick. Might be a steal though considering how his point totals have had a massive jump this year. Also need to consider how inflated his numbers are by playing with Lind considering lind is driving the play and getting few secondary assists.
  13. I like Ferraro but he is being very biased towards Canada this game with regard to penalties

    1. Western Red

      Western Red

BMac insinuated that EP took a dive as well... Its to be expected. Can't let meatheads rule the game, nor snowflakes. Both teams have them. Still missing KB3 here! Hard to put a price on character like his.

    2. Rounoush

      Rounoush

At the end of the game he said, "I liked the refs tonight. They let the teams play."  6-1 in penalties isn't just letting the teams play. Some of those Swedish penalties were weak.

Extremely weak, and i saw quite a few non calls on the canadians

  14. Well you could cheer for EP but Canada to win... Hat trick for Pettersson, 2 goals for gadj and a Canadian win would be perfect lol
  15. I agree we could but it would not hurt for most or maybe all of our top prospects to start next season in Utica. We will not be a winning team next year so why not let them dominate the AHL and gain chemistry. Originally I did not want the Sedins resigned for another season but they could fill a hole next year and be replaced the following year. Assuming the Sedins are resigned then the only other forward UFA is Vanek and his spot and time will be taken up by Granlund, Goldy and Virtanen. Or a guy like Kane will be signed. Either way let the guys develop and put them into a competitive winning environment.
  16. So Ryan Biech mentioned on the radio today that Kole Lind only has 4 secondary assists this season... 4 out of 50... that is down right impressive and shows that he is driving the offence and not just tagging along with other good players. Truly excited about this guy and think he has a very high chance of making the bigs in 1-2 years.
  17. Juolevi+Edler for Mcdavid... that should get it on track Joking aside I really liked Juolevi's game this world juniors and am looking forward to him playing in NA next year
  18. After watching Tkachuk this game I would be ok with drafting him. He draws the penalty that leads to the tying goal and then scores the second goal. Anyone that can get under a guys skin, make plays and score goals I want on my team

  19. Nah, put Pettersson on Bo's wing and Gaudette as 2C (ideally). Draft Boqvist or some other right shot D
  20. We will have another Edler
  21. I agree, he needs more muscle in order to compete in this league 5 on5. He has the skill to step in right now but he shouldn't until he's physically ready. This tournament showed the need for Pettersson to become stronger
  22. haha especially since there are so many variables. Who's traded, who's signed, does Gaudette sign, does he play well, is there a spot for him(Sedins resigned, Gagner traded?, free agent centre signed?) Way to much time to pencil him in. Pretty awesome though having so many prospects that may be able to step into the NHL next year though. Pettersson, Gaudette, Dahlen, 2018pick, Juolevi and maybe even Demko at one point next year(after a goalie's traded)
  23. Lines could be stacked in the future

    _____-Pettersson-Goldobin (ultimate skill)

Dahlen-Horvat-Boeser (Hard working two way line)

Virtanen-Gaudette-Lind (hard to play against in so many ways)

Gadjovich-Gaunce-Granlund (Shutdown line with some skill)

    Lockwood

    Juolevi-____

    Pouliot-Stetcher

    Tryamkin-Chatfield

    Brisebois-McEneny

    Demko

    Dipietro

Thats pretty good since we still have a couple years of rebuild left. Have to appreciate Bennings ability to find talent in the draft. With future drafts and more unknowns that could arise as good players such as Rathbone, Candella, Brassard, Palmu you have to be excited.

Excited we will most likely be picking at the top of the draft again. I see 2 big holes in our lineup. A top line LW/C and a top RD. Luckily one of those needs can be filled in the coming draft.

If Jake's offensive game doesn't pick up in the next year, he probably won't be in Van.  There's only so much patience that they'll show with him before they replace him with someone new.

    3. smithers joe

      smithers joe

i'm still not sold on goldobin. i hope he puts it all together. i'm still hopeful jake puts it all together too.

I've thought Goldobin has looked solid the last couple weeks and his skill is amazing. He may need a little sheltering but I think he will be in our long term plan

  24. gadjovich is signed so don't be too surprised if he's in Utica next year
