  1. You would break up the baer bo boeser line and then ice that as your third line? That third line would be torn apart by any team.
  2. Wouldn't hurt. Who else are we going to call up? Chapoo? Call up Goldy and slot him on a line with Granlund and eriksson. Reward him for the way he's been playing of late. If he settles in well, competes and plays well defensively then let the rebuild continue Baer-Bo-Boeser Sedins-Virtanen Goldy-Granlund-Eriksson Gaunce-Burmistrov-Vanek
  3. Agreed, he may even get a chance with the Canucks assuming we fall off in the second half of the season. I think it would be fine trading Vanek, slotting in Goldy and then have Dahlen as the injury call up. Doubt Sedins are going to resign so we could really use some more of our top end prospects NHL ready
  4. Well it is Ottawa haha they aren't famous for making good trades recently. Dahlen says hi
  5. Id disagree, it will be beneficial for him to start in Utica to play centre and gain his confidence there before making the jump to the NHL. taking into account the fact that he won't necessarily be strong enough either adds good reason for him to be in Utica training and practicing so that he's able to step right in. A Nylander type development timeline is probably very applicable in this setting.
  6. I totally agree, and Id add that him choosing to stay and help his brother will also help his maturity. When you have a family member with issues it gives you a better perspective on life. Looking at him as a prospect Ill take a year of him being happy and growing maturely, over one extra year of development.
  7. He really does have a chance of making our team one day. He's kind of like Burrows in my mind. Feisty but has some offensive ability
  8. Agreed, I think next year Pettersson comes over and plays centre in Utica. If he ends up being a first line winger Ill be somewhat disappoint but in all honesty we need a top LW in our system as well.
  9. I agree but Benning may not be able to make the right deal and trade Edler because of his NTC. I think Edlers the best choice but Del Zotto may hold some real value considering how he's playing for us and his very affordable contract of 3M. With our current LD depth for now and next year, one has to assume Benning will have have to make a move. Elder-Del Zotto-Hutton-Pouliot-Juolevi-McEneny. I see Pouliot as a top 4 Dman as he plays the new style NHL defensemen way. I think his offensive skill set will become more apparent and visible with his rising confidence. Great pick up by Benning
  10. Statistically Guddys overall game is $&!#e. Sure he makes a few good plays but he also gets burned on the outside a lot and isn't a consistent physical force. For what a shutdown guy is supposed to be he doesn't fit the mould. The game is changing to faster players and guddy definitely isn't that. I like the guy and think he's a good leader but don't see him as a guy you'd pay 5M and as a shutdown guy
  11. Totally agree, I hope we sell a lot of our players at this coming deadline so that we have at least one more year at the top of the draft. Many think tanking doesn't benefit but coming in bottom five of the league can give you the equivalent of two first rounders if you draft well in the early 2nd round. Benning has shown he's able to get really good players in those spots. Although I love the way we've been playing it doesn't help us in the future and many pieces we have can be replaced by guys in Utica or overseas. What Id like to see at this deadline is the trading of Edler or Del Zotto, preference of Edler but if he refuses to wave then trade Del Zotto. Replace them with either Wiercoch, a piece coming back in trade, or a guy like McEneny. Trade Vanek, replace with Goldobin, Boucher or Rodin. Trade Gudbranson for what you can get, hell Biega is playing better then him. Trade are worst starting goalie and replace with Bachman who's proven to be a good backup. Id also send Virtanen down to Utica now considering he's not playing big minutes, then when you make trades bring him back up. Baer-Bo-Boeser Goldy-Granlund-Eriksson Sedins-Virtanen Gaunce-Sutter-Dorsett Gagner, Burmistrov Del Zotto/Edler-Tanev Hutton-Stetcher Pouliot-Biega Wiercoch-McEneny Markstrom/Nilsson Bachman Will still be a fun high skilled team to watch but it will lose some games just due to inexperience. We get a high draft pick, the rebuild continues, we have a better team in the future. Oh and resign the god of drafting
  12. Great night of hockey! Boeser and the triple B line just lighting it up! Will say that if Virtanen isn't going to play more then he should be in Utica playing big minutes and having the ability to practice more. When Gaunce comes up, send virtanen down

  13. Wow, can't believe Evan McEneny isn't getting some credit on this site recently. According to Capfriendly he currently has 2G 4A 6P in only 8 games. Small sample size but that is a great start. 6'3 210lbs guy who looked really good in his small stint last year. Personally I think he's our next d callup and will be a good player for us in the future.
  14. Tryamkin named as KHLs best defensemen of the month http://en.khl.ru/news/2017/11/02/366510.html "Best defenseman was Nikita Tryamkin (Avtomobilist). The 23-year-old Russian had a superb October, helping the Yekaterinburg team to victory in seven of his 11 appearances, topping up his account with 8 (3+5) points, a +3 efficiency rating, 18 blocks, 23 hits (more than any other defenseman), and an average of more than 21 minutes on the ice. Tryamkin ended October with a four-point game and a call-up to the Russian national team;" Good news to hear, hoping he comes back when he's a little more mature physically and mentally. I still hold him in high esteem and think he could be a huge part of the Canucks future.
  15. Ya hes made a few bad moves but overall he has transitioned the team fairly well and has drafted/brought in a lot of good prospects. Really hoping he gets an extension as I think he deserves it and it won't hurt to have his drafting pedigree around a while longer!
  16. Palmu might even make it to Utica next year.
  17. He wanted to go somewhere he was comfortable playing after his bout of mono. He has an out clause in December so he'll be playing in the SHL, AHL or maybe even the NHL with us if he's playing well and we have injuries/ planning to trade players at the deadline.
  18. Wow we have a lot of potential top 6 forward and goalie prospects doing extremely well. But we definitely need some top end D prospects. Hoping Benning takes 2 defenders in the top 3 rounds next draft. Although Im a believer in draft best player available we need some D prospect depth.

Forwards- Pettersson, Dahlen, Goldobin, Lind, Gaudette, Gadj, Palmu, Lockwood. Not to mention our young graduates like Bo, Boeser, Baer, Granny, Virtanen. Theres also others that could surprise such as Jasek, MacEwen and Zhukenov.

Defense- Juolevi(LD), Brisebois(LD), Chatfield(RD). All have top 4 potential but besides Juolevi not much top pairing potential. Young graduates include Stetcher and Hutton who have top 4 potential. Other more unknown guys like Pouliot, McEneny, Tryamkin, Subban have potential but whether they will be full time NHlers is questionable. One unknown Im looking forward to watching is Rathbone as we took him in the 4th round and scouting reports have him rated highly.

Goalies- Demko, DiPietro...enough said, were good.

To some up we have some amazing up and coming prospects but are currently lacking top end defensemen. Definitely what Benning should be targeting in upcoming trades and the draft.

    1. smithers joe

      smithers joe

i trust that benning knows what we need and will do his best to get it for the team.

  19. Tank for Dahlin, win the cup 2 years later. That should be the plan lol
  20. Sorry to burst your bubble but we still have four more years of Eriksson after this year...honestly if I were Benning Id trade him for whatever someone would give me or Id knock off 60%salary and ask for a good prospect. Even though Eriksson's had a bad year and a bit he still holds some value.
  21. Going to be hard to follow how he does this year. To bad he's not going to Harvard this year but its nice that we get his rights one extra year. Definitely a long term project. Hope he doesn't have to hard a time transitioning away from his brother in a couple years.
  22. Honestly my guess is that Rodin is still building up strength in his knee and getting his conditioning up to par. He missed over a year of hockey, hard to get back into it after that long.
  23. haha good one but way to hold onto a grudge lol
  24. Been happy with Pouliot so far. Hasn't had many big defensive errors and is a fluid skater that can make a good pass. Good signs for a guy that hasn't really had a chance to make it in the NHL. Hopefully he develops well this year.
