  1. If he beats out a guy then you let him on the team. We are probably going to have a few spots for guys this coming year as I can't see us resigning Sedins and Vanek. Then you have other guys you can trade like Dorsett and Sutter. Theres room for skilled guys but it will depend on how they fit and who they can knock off rosters(UTICA and Canucks). He'd be a good guy for Utica next year though when Goldobin graduates.
  2. Agreed, Dahlen's out clause is a very good thing. If we are injury loaded or making trades at the deadline then there's definitely room for him here or in Utica. Or he plays in a top league. Both are good but Id like to see him come to North American ice.
  3. Hes a shutdown defensemen and did extremely well for a rookie year. He's clearly elevated his play this year in the KHL. He skates well, is huge, has a booming shot and got screwed over by Willie Desjardins. When he was playing big minutes he was unstopable but he was continuously benched because willie didn't want to develop players...hence why he was fired. Tryamkin has the potential to be as good as Chara, and currently is looking like a third pair guy at the worst. Tryamkin could be our next Tanev, he could shelter and protect skilled players and shutdown other teams tops. Imagine him with a guy like Dahlin. Tryamkin-Dahlin....now that would be a force to be reckoned with.
  4. With Edler potentially injured, do we claim Streit? Would be a potential trade chip at deadline and cost nothing. Might just depend on how long Edlers injured but he'd be a good vet presence for our backend.

      Don't we want speed?

Plenty of speed at the top of next years draft. I honestly don't see our team/prospects (as of right now) being competitive enough to make the playoffs. Best to get some more assets and high draft picks while we can.

  5. Thought the team played well tonight but was disappointed that Virtanen only received just over 7 minutes. Considering he was having an impact and from what I saw playing strong, Id liked to have seen him hit the 10min mark. Im just hoping this isn't a precursor to what happened with Jake/McCann. Virt low min and brock cut isn't in my mind the best way to sell a rebuild and move forward. Hopefully things change in the coming games as I realize the small sample size.

Sorry lack of coffee that should read he had a solid game. :)

      coastal.view

      he had a solid game

he was put in instead of boeser.. good decision

coaching choices were well thought out

sedins got limited ice time,  and played reasonably well, given the oilers' speed

but let's start micromanaging our coaching after 1 game anyway

    4. Baer.

      Baer.

Boeser didn't get cut he was a healthy scratch because he doesn't deserve anything. He's just like any other rookie he has to work his way to the top. I like watching Brock but he is a bit of a puck hog and makes mistakes because of it. He needs to learn the team is fine playing without him if he feels entitled.

That's not even mentioning the fact coach green wanted Dorsett in the game to shut down McDavid and he did a hell of a job doing it last game.

  6. Cant believe how deep Toronto and Edmonton are at forward yet both so far seem reluctant to deal a piece for a good defence man. Hoping we trade Edler at the deadline, could fetch us another nice piece. And if not Edler then Tanev.

Tanev will likely be moved at some point in the next couple of years.

  7. Also Boeser hasn't played much for Green yet, he's new to him and Boeser is new to the league. Have to assume Green wants to get to know Boeser first and see what position he fits into best. Virtanen looked more NHL ready to me then Boeser did this preseason and honestly I would have been fine if Boeser started in Utica to get accustomed to the pro leagues. Heres hoping he gets a lot of games in and a lot of time or else it might of been better for him to start in Utica.
  8. https://canucksarmy.com/2017/10/06/on-a-new-team-and-with-actual-opportunity-lukas-jasek-is-thriving/ Good article on Jasek. Its to bad he basically missed a year of hockey last year. Still has a chance of making it to the bigs though
  9. I like it but Dahlen-Pettersson-Boeser Goldy-Bo-Granlund Gadjovich-Gaudette-Virtanen
  10. Id be curious to see a line up of Sedins Granlund Baer Bo Sutter Erikkson-Gagner-Boeser Vanek-Burmistrov-Dorestt Rodin Edler-Tanev Del-Zotto-Stetcher Hutton-Guddy Wiercoch-Pedan I think Boeser could really benefit by playing slightly down the lineup with a playmaking centre man.
  11. he helped with our rebuild though, because before him we were retooling lol With the way he deployed lines we had to do a full scale rebuild!
  12. I don't mean to scare everyone here, but what if Megna makes the team out of camp...

Then our injury troubles picked up right where we left off last season.

Just chillin' to Steely Dan's 'Peg'

      Don't worry 'bout list

      Whole team is the gist

Endless doubt will just feel lika' drag

  13. Considering how light he is, he's still putting up points against men. He could be NHL ready next season with his skills but man does he need some muscle/size. Heres hoping he's on an intense training program all year and works his butt off
  14. Age is important but just being a rookie is huge. The compete level and skill is an eye opener and you need good development to reach your peak potential. I hope he plays well and scores lots all year wherever that is but think Utica and practice etc would be good for him. If he makes the Canucks I hope he can sustain good play over an entire year and not just nine games.
  15. Yep and how'd that work for edmonton. If management truly cares about this team they will worry about developing players and not Dollar$. If Boeser is ready and outplays other then let him play but personally I think Utica could do him a world of good. He can practice more which means improved skating, training, stamina building and other aspects of his game. He could go form being a good prospect to a guaranteed top line guy with the right development
  16. True enough... I mean thats whats happened to Virtanen right haha
  17. Hard to see Boeser in the starting lineup now but with injuries he could be called up a few games later like Stetcher was. Hoping he has a great year development wise. I couldn't care less about the calder race for boeser as it won't matter in the long run. Ideally I see Boeser stating in the AHL and working on his explosiveness as well as refining his defensive game. Let him start the season down there and then if he's playing great then call him up when theres either an injury or the trade deadline appears.
  18. What Ryan Pulock worth in a trade? Would Baertschi do it?

    1. morrissex95

      morrissex95

      Pulock looks promising.

I think NYI wants him to replace Hamonic

  19. 16 goals and 34 assists for 50 points. Wishing him luck and hoping he's able to fill a bigger role in our top 3 lines.
  20. My thoughts exactly. All this talk of him winning the calder is just setting him up to fail in fans eyes. Im hoping he starts in Utica for a month, gets called up and pots about 15 goals this year. Lets worry about his development and not trophies he might be able to win.
  21. When/If Pettersson puts on some strength he should be dominant in any league. Hopefully that extra strength doesn't slow him down because wow is he fast now lol
  22. Agreed, the passes between Juolevi and Pettersson will be unreal in the future. You can just picture those two setting Boeser up for non stop PP goals!
  23. Just thinking about last season when Burr/Hans were traded at the deadline and it got me thinking of how I enjoyed cheering for them on other teams. Then my thoughts turned to the Sedins and it left me wondering...would I rather watch the Sedins in Canucks colours for they're whole career but lose non stop in the end of said career, or watch them get traded to a contending team and cheer them on to a potential cup? My mind set is Id rather see them contend for a Cup and cheer them on since they will always be Canucks in my eyes! Therefor I think we should trade the Sedins if they wish too contend and give Canucks fans something to cheer about!

    1. Ossi Vaananen

      Ossi Vaananen

It's just the team we're trading with would have to take on 14 million in cap space. We're already holding onto the max salary retention with Hansen/Luongo. I'd like to see them move on as well. We're not in a place to be competitive in their twilight, so they should really either retire or move on to a better positioned team.

  24. Agreed, my guess is he uses most of this season to hone his game and develop his offence and then he should be ready to fill in for injuries/trades. Though he does have a lot of competition for only a few spots
  25. Im not worried about what are team looks like this year. We're in a rebuild and need to be restocking the cupboards for the future. Honestly Id be trading a few of the older guys, 27 and older, at the deadline. Trade one of our goalies as well if they're both playing well.
