2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

Wow 6'1 vs 6'2 and oh no he swiss too hahaha grow up. One inch won't make a difference and neither should nationality. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and every player is different. But you basing yours off nationality is sad. -

Ya him not playing in college may have lowered his ranking. He could be a lock for third if he didn't play in high school this year. Personally my two favourites are him and Hirschier but who knows -

Our pick choose top 5 Hischier Patrick Mittelstadt Vilardi Necas Then trade Tanev to Lightning or Dallas Choose a D in top 15. -
ya but will one extra kid in his rookie year actually sell tickets? I don't think so. If I were ownership Id be thinking... Ok lets cut our losses this year and then really sell our new next generation the year after. We'll have our 2017 first stepping in, Boeser, Goldy, Dahlen?, Demko, 2018highpick?, Tryamkin back?, Subban, McEneny, Gaudette? and any other prospects we acquire. 2017pick, Boeser, Demko, Subban and Goldy will sell our tickets.
-
I agree but Zhuk is a talented centre, something Utica is really missing down there. He could really help our other prospects due to his offensive play. A Dahlen-Zhuk-Boeser line would have me very excited. Or Vitanen-Zhuk-Goldobin
-
My main point is that the Canucks are going to suck regardless and will end up almost last. Why put our young prospects in that situation and pull an Edmonton? In a couple/few years this team could be good but patience is needed with the prospects. Lets not pull an edmonton.
-
Ya maybe, and then MacEwan and Chatfield as well. There going to be a lot of new promising faces down there. Still need some top end talent prospects but we have depth for sure regarding them. I do hope Zhukenov signs, he's played lights out in the playoffs this year.
-
yep and then maybe Boeser as well. Might be best for him to spend 1/2 a year down there. Might even see Raddysh(I have a feeling he signs with us) and our 2017pick down there as well. Utica could have a good team next year. Especially with Demko in net!
-
Where have you been? Gillis been gone a long time haha Bennings running the show now. Or wait maybe its Linden?
-
Depends if he earns his spot up here. Like every player on the Canucks roster, he needs to earn it. Thats not just offence but decent defensively as well. If he steps up and shows a little grit and defensive awareness then he will be gold next year and be a big part of this team going forward. I think Goldy is like Tryamkin in a way. Both just need to be more engaged in the game every game.
-
Hes had an awesome rookie pro year! I still think its best for him to be in the AHL next year though, and I don't think Miller resigning or not will dictate that
-
ya but like i said. If Goldy was sent down earlier there was no guaranteed he was going to save Uticas season. Management did what they thought was best, can't blame them for that.
-
Ya true, but in this case I don't think goldy would have made or broken Utica's chances. Playing games in the NHL was probably more important for him in his development. Plus now he can put that 15lbs back on
-
Oh come on, he played fine in the NHL and his weaknesses were more apparent. now he has a better idea of what he needs to do to be successful.
-
Edler and Hutton would both get good returns and Sbisa decent. Edler depends on NTC and he might not waive so like I said before. One of or both Sbisa and Hutton should be traded this offseason.
-
Edler is not worth exposing. he is a number 2-3 defenseman on any team and provides good leadership for the Canucks. I would trade him if he'd waive but I wouldn't lose him for nothing. Hutton has the potential to be a very good D in this league but he's no guarantee. Also we have many LDs in the lineup and coming up that need to be able to show their value. Tryamkin is a LD playing RD. Juolevi in my mind will be on our team next year. Then you have LDs like Pedan, McEneny, Brisebois etc coming up that will be pushing for NHL spots so we have plenty of LD depth. Like I said, if Edler won't waive then this lineup might be best for next year. Trade Sbisa and Hutton for offensive help. Edler-Stetcher Tryamkin-Gudbranson Juolevi-Tanev
-
You forget about the expansion draft. One of Edler, Tanev, Sbisa, Guddy will be gone next year because we can't protect all 4. I think Edler, Tanev and Sbisa are all traceable but doubt Edler waives. Also think Sbisa would be the better one to move currently of those four and then id also move Hutton to make a little more room. Don't forget that we may get a chance at unsigned players like Raddysh which may allow us to trade without worries at all. especially for a team in the middle of a rebuild.
-
I agree that Edler is the preferable guy to trade but his NTC makes it complicated. If he was to waive then perfect but if he doesn't I can definitely see Benning trading one of or both Hutton and Sbisa. For the right return Hutton is worth trading. A young talented top 6 forward is what would be required but we'll see.

haha couldn't have been more wrong lol -
Exactly, it hasn't even been one year since he was drafted. You can't judge a pick so quickly, especially when he's a defensemen who's had an up and down year. His world juniors was disappointing due to coaching and in London he's been asked to play more defensively then the year before. Yet he still produced better numbers then last year in London and thats without guys like Tkatchuk and Marner. Joulevi will be a big part of our future core and he has all the tools to be a top pairing D. I doubt he goes back to London next year as people say he's bored there and I don't think it will help his development. If he puts on a little extra weight this summer I bet he's a steady fixture in our lineup. Especially since its more then likely that at least one maybe two of our D will be traded this summer/exposed.My guess is that 2 of our current LD are gone next year. Hutton or Edler or Sbisa making room for Juolevi and Tryamkin on that side. assume Edler doesn't waive and this is what i see as our D corp next year on a rebuilding team. Edler-Stetcher Tryamkin-Gudbranson Juolevi-Tanev Thats a pretty solid D.

This kid definitely has some offensive flair! How is he defensively? Decent?

haha exactly, if Benning announced a trade before expansion( Sutter for a 4th.) People would be pissed. Yet they'd expose him and get nothing. I just don't get it sometimes -

Agreed, whenever I hear people saying too expose guys like Edler or Sutter Im left speechless. Those guys have value going forward, whether thats via trade or as leaders on the team. Trade em, don't lose em for nothing. -
By a very good team, but ya. In my mind Tampa has one of the deepest prospect pools in the league and that shows.
