  1. My point is that when a player is sick or injured their play declines. Goldy is probably not as bad as everyone is saying, but instead just not healthy enough to compete effectively. If you want an example look at sedin in the face-off dot last year because of his injury. What Im saying is you can't judge a young prospect who isn't completely healthy. goldy needs to play NHL minutes to get used to the game here. Seasoning in the AHL not required just health and confidence.
  2. Wow people, HE WAS SICK AND LOST 15LB"S A WEEK AGO!!!!!!! Stop @#$@ing ragging on him already. He's a kid who has barely played in the NHL, isn't up to strength due to being sick and would probably still not be playing yet if we didn't have so many other injures. Give the kid a break already. Especially since these are meaningless games and no Canuck is playing there best hockey right now. give him next year and if it doesn't work for him, oh well. But damn people are being ignorant right now.
  3. The thing you seem to fail to realize is that one can be a great AHLer and not make the NHL yet help other prospects reach those heights through good play in the AHL. Put Dahlen with talented AHLers like Valk or Archibald and their AHL skill will help guys like Dahlen improve. If you have an AHL team full of NHL calibre prospects then your dreaming. The AHL is a developmental league just for prospects like Dahlen, that's the whole point of them.
  4. Good thing theres twelve forwards on an NHL team. Lots of room for Jake if he plays well next training camp and beyond.
  5. Yep exactly, and if Dahlen plays well he might even get a callup to the big club due to lack of offensive prospects. Virtanen, Boeser, Goldobin, Valk?, Labate, Cassels, 2017 pick?, Macewan etc at forward Subban, likely Brisebois, Neill, McEneny, Pedan etc. and Demko in net. There is potentially going to be a lot of youth in Utica next year. Many that could make the NHL. Both the AHL and Sweden are good options and you can see why he'd go either way.
  6. I was thinking that he could be asked to waive and still not be taken.
  7. If JB is thinking of exposing anyone with a contract it will be Edler or Eriksson. Edler would probably be taken but I doubt Eriksson would.
  8. haha just stop while your only a little behind, your making it worse for yourself. You can't blatantly say that its a fact he's not coming over and then say he might not come over. He's young and deciding with his family and agent whats best for him. I think both options are good but the AHL might be better for the Canucks and him because he will be under Canuck mentorship, playing with future line mates, adapting to the North American game and potentially impacting other Canucks prospects positively.
  9. I bet there are a lot of trades of picks/firsts leading up to the expansion draft and the entry draft. Thats going to be an exciting week! June 21st expansion draft and then 23-24 entry draft!
  10. My guess is they'd trade down to about where we are... hopefully Benning wouldn't pay too much.
  11. I don't think we can really go wrong this draft. There are 6 guys I can see us picking in this draft. Hirshier, Patrick, Mittlestadt, Maker, Liljegrin, Vilardi. Any of those guys and Ill be happy.
  12. Rick Dhaliwal‏ @DhaliwalSports 14m14 minutes ago Talked with #Canucks prospect Jonathan Dahlen who is done playing in Sweden, now he signs with the Canucks or stays 1 more year in Sweden. Rick Dhaliwal‏ @DhaliwalSports 14m14 minutes ago Dahlen says he will take his time in deciding #Canucks or Division 1 in Sweden, "I have lots of things to discuss with my family." Rick Dhaliwal‏ @DhaliwalSports 14m14 minutes ago Dahlen says the #Canucks called him over the weekend, he knows he would start in Utica next season. Rick Dhaliwal‏ @DhaliwalSports 13m13 minutes ago Dahlen on the benefits of staying in Sweden, "the bigger rink will improve my skating, it's not a bad option." #Canucks Rick Dhaliwal‏ @DhaliwalSports 13m13 minutes ago Dahlen says he wants to get stronger this summer, "to get closer to my dream of playing for the #Canucks." You mean these posts in which Dahlen says he will take his time in deciding whether to go to the Canucks or Sweden top league? Also these were posted 11hrs ago. Enough said.
  13. Neither of those things are confirmed. Dahlen has not said yet wheres he's going to play next year. Still wish to talk to his family etc. and no Juolevi isn't set to play anywhere, although I don't think more time with the knights will help so he will most likely be playing with the Canucks or Europe. Im personally hoping for Europe and another year of development but he'll probably end up with the Canucks.
  14. First of all, not a granlund fan? Benning is going to trade a D this summer. Bank on it. One of Sbisa, Gaunce or Boucher(if not traded) are going to be sent to Vegas. Boeser, Goldy, Virtanen will compete for spots but some will be in Utica. I think Rodin goes back overseas but who knows. Wont be surprised if Benning signs some UFAs. There are a lot of moving pieces next year and spots will be open or opened for players that deserve it. Im my mind I think we stalk Utica with our best prospects and call this next year a rebuild year. Let players try to prove themselves, make trades at the deadline, bring up the young players halfway through the year and get a high draft pick next year. Baer-Bo-Boucher Sedins-Granlund Rodin/UFA-Sutter-Eriksson Crammer-Chaput-UFA (Iginla calibre/ someone worth something at the deadline) Edler-Tanev Tryamkin-Stetcher Sbisa/Hutton-Guddy Markstrom Bachman ______________________________________ In Utica Dahlen-2017pick/Valk-Boeser Goldy-Cassels-Virtanen Jasek-MacEwen-Abols Labate etc Subban-McEneny Pedan-Brisebois Neill-Sautner________Juolevi to Europe Demko Garteig ______________________________________ Trade deadline Trade Sedins, Edler, Ufa's, Value assets that get a good return if playing well(maybe one of Eriksson, Baertschi, Sutter or Sbisa) ______________________________________ Moving into 2018 Baer-Bo-Boeser Goldy-2017/18pick-Granlund Dahlen-Sutter-Eriksson/Virtanen Labate-Chaput-Crammer Juolevi-Tanev Tryamkin-Stetcher Subban/Mceneny/Brisebois-Gudbranson Markstrom Demko I actually think that 2018 roster to be somewhat realistic with what might happen. I doubt the canucks leave all their best prospects in Utica for a year but the reason for doing so would be to let them develop fully with a good team in Utica. Next year is going to be a bust but in a couple I think we will have a very fun young team to watch!
  15. The only two guys we can send down are gaunce and goldy(as far as I know). Gaunce is injured and Goldy is unhealthy, if we send gold down, who plays for the big club? The Canucks don't want to recall anyone but with recent injuries might have too anyways. With Stetcher out maybe we see Subban or Pedan. Gold won't be sent down until Canucks season is almost over and Uticas playoffs start.
  16. Ok people, lets not forget that Goldy lost 15lbs like a week ago when he was sick. Thats not something you recover from quickly. Plus this is his first real taste of the NHL right now. Do you expect him to look like Horvat or another NHL regular already? Give the guy some time, thats all he needs because the skill is evident.
  17. Boeser has his wrist all wrapped up before his first NHL game... hope he's not pushing it to hard.
  18. I think the stereotypical number one d man has to put up a lot of points and be responsible defensively. Juolevi is going to be a great player for us and will be top pairing, but if he doesn't put up big points, he won't be a true number one. May serve as one for us but not a true number one.
  19. Guy needs to train with Horvats skating coach. If he gets that extra step he's in alone and probably scores. Cant wait to see what he turns into for this team
  20. Alf, How do you post 10000 times a year? You've been on the site two years and have posted almost 21000 times, thats like 30 a day. What job do you have?
  21. Well we obviously have different stances. I think playing with his future line mates in Bo, Sven, Sutter etc in a better league, is better then playing with fringe NHLers. Different opinions and Ill guess we'll see what happens and what management thinks is best.
  22. Have to give up something good to get something good.
  23. Hes proven he can be a very good AHL player. He needs time in the NHL to adapt to the game up here and take the next step. You can have a great AHL player with experience down there but if he can't or doesn't get the chance to make it in the NHL then hell be an AHL player. And I bet you anything, Goldy see's these games in the NHL as important for him and that will motivate him. He needs a chance to show he can play up here not the A.
  24. Totally agree with that except for Goldy. He needs time in the NHL. Hopefully Boeser goes to Utica. I think Playoffs for him down there would be good instead of serving his head on a platter to Canucks fans the rest of the year.
