  1. Are you related to MH by chance?
  2. I'm pretty sure The Purge starts right after the end of the 4th movie. At least that is what I expect to happen after the government is overthrown, the new leader is murdered, the central female "heroine" turns into a murderer after members of her family die, and the central male figure has been turned into a psychopath, who's also murdered people.
  3. Ah. I'm only 21 so I guess my youth pushes those 2 into the good zone for me still.
  4. This Century Adam Sandler sucks, but you don't like Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore?
  5. Have any of you seen the new Ghostbusters yet? They say not to judge a book by its cover, but the previews look awful to me. I can't imagine a team of 4 with 2 of them being Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones turning out ok.
  6. I've never liked Kevin Hart. I think he thinks he's funnier than he is and is overrated as a comedian/actor. From what I've seen though, your not the first one to say that about him in this movie so maybe I'll give it a shot.
  7. The Social Network: 9.5/10 I wish I had an idea that was stolen by someone so I could sue them for $65 million dollars.
  8. Haven't seen that one yet. Will definitely take the warning though
  9. Rounders 1998: 8/10 If you like those gambling/noir feel movies, this is a good one. I wish Norton and Damon did more movies together; they had some great chemistry in this one. Norton played his role to the tee. Now whenever I picture sleazeball gambling junkies, Edward Norton is how I imagine they look. Story was good. Characters were good. Even card play was good. Would have been a higher grade from me if had some extra "oomph." Always tricky in gambling movies to add interesting side stories. Overall though, I thought it was entertaining.
  10. Zootopia: 8.5/10 Didn't want to watch it. At all. Finally dragged down by the family. Ended up really enjoying it. Good family movie that would also be a good one to watch if your loved one is a fan of those Pixar/John Lasseter type of movies. Finding Dory: 5/10 Always hard to make a sequel that is 10+ years from the original. Did a decent job introducing new characters, but the story line felt recycled and gave me personally a "been there, done that" vibe. Gets a meh from me, even with nostalgia factored in.
  11. Concluded the Star Wars Binge. Despite some of the ratings I give them, I love everything about them and will fight anyone with one of my 12 lightsabers that I collected through childhood that say otherwise. In order of release/watched. Star Wars IV: A New Hope: 10/10 Brilliant. Revolutionary (at the time). Simply Amazing. Story line + Plot + Characters = Grand Slam for Lucas. Fun Fact: I have the original VCR copies of 4,5, and 6. It's brilliant because it contains everything that was there before Darth Lucas edited them. At the end after the battles, Mark Hamill climbs out of his X Wing and accidentally calls Carrie Fisher by her name, making the dialogue, "Luke!" "Carrie!" Star Wars V: Empire Strikes Back: 10.5/10 Somehow, the sequel manages to outdo the original. He managed to add new characters, new planets, new plot lines, and even through in the interesting backstory while keeping everything cohesive. It's seriously amazing how far Lucas fell when comparing the Prequels to the Sequels. Star Wars IV: Return of the Jedi: 8.75/10 Only part that I rolled my eyes at was the ewoks taking down the Empire.....I mean, c'mon guys. They are teddy bears who don't even possess the milligram of technology that the Empire did. Still, somehow, the battle scenes were epic, memorable, and the ending of this movie was truly amazing and puts the bow on quite possibly the greatest trilogy of all time. When Lucas sold his baby for $4 billion to Disney, it was due to these first 3 being so memorable to the audiences of the 70's and 80's. I wasn't around at the time, but someone I talked to about the Sequels brought up an interesting point that I found fascinating and truly highlighted the brilliance of the movies. He said at the time in the 80's, the most hated people during this time were The Ayatollah Khomeini and Darth Vader. *Deep Breath* Ok here we go. Star Wars I: Phantom Menace: 3/10 I honestly get what Lucas was trying to do. Yes, all the council meetings and diplomatic negotiations were boring as hell, but it was a necessary cross to bear for the vision Lucas wanted to created. He wanted to lay out the governing world before Episode IV took place and wanted to create the settings of the Jedi, the relationships of certain individuals, how everything that we knew before came to be. For that, he get's a pass in my book about the boring complaint.....HOWEVER, the Jar Jar creation was just...so unnecessary. The whole Gungan storyline could have rewritten entirely or wiped out IMO. The biggest contributions they made in 1-3 was simply lending a ship and being a diversion army. They were totally worthless after that and out of all of Lucas's creations, the Gungans are the one who should have not existed. Throw in excessive use of CGI, killing off 2 wonderful and high potential characters (Darth Maul and Qui Gon) in the 1st movie, and you get a disappointing Intro. Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones: 2/10 Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. Hayden Christensen was a terrible choice and is a big reason was everyone thinks the Prequels suck. His crappy acting can't be entirely at fault though. His dialogue was even worse; to a point where it was almost unrealistic for me to believe that Padme had any romantic interest in him whatsover. It is a shame that the producers and writers didn't realize that they wound up having a CLONE army fighting a DROID army, taking away any emotional attachment the audience could potentially have. "Oh a bunch of clones just blew up? That's ok, they have more just like them coming in." It had potential in the beginning. Rather than making deranged Romeo and Juliet the main story though, they should have focused on the background of the clone army creation and deep networks of the Sith's plans (The books are quite fascinating on this subject and shows what the Emperor did was nothing short of genius). Oh well. Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith: 6/10 The last hour or so of the movie were excellent and did a nice job tying up loose ends and setting up the beginning to IV. And while Christensen made for a dopey Jedi/lover boy, I must give him credit for his portrayal of Anakin slowly but surely turning evil. You could tell he learned a lot between last episode and this one. I wish him turning evil wasn't partially about SAVING HIS WIFE AND GETTING PARANOID BECAUSE HE HAD NIGHTMARES but that is the writer's fault, not his. Biggest complaint of the movie: These so called powerful Jedi went out like the biggest b!tches. These all knowing, all seeing, force enhancing warriors lost 98% of their class in about a span of an hour. I get that the plan was brilliant, but these guys were built up by the writers so much and then went down like chumps quickly and swiftly. Oh, and 1 more thing: YOU CAN NOT DIE FROM LOSING THE WILL TO LIVE! On to the next binge.
  12. I'll still love them. If nothing else, for the nostalgia and childhood memories. Should be enough for me to keep me from throwing the remote at Hayden Christensen's derpy face/acting.
  13. Doing a Star Wars binge watch 1-7 next weekend with a buddy. I've probably seen 1-6 100 times each but not in awhile. Loved the prequels when I was little and a teenager so it will be sad when I will have to give them a "big boy" review.
  14. Has to be a career ender for his kid. "I like it, but I think it's bad."
  15. Signs (2002): 7/10 Well look at this. A M. Night Shamalamadingdong movie that wasn't sucktastic. Granted, I feel like a teacher giving a bad student a better grade because he needs his own curve, but he made it work. Signs had good acting, (from Gibson and Phoenix), and a good storyline; something you can't often say about his movies. The movie did a very good job building up the suspense and scare factor of the aliens, but disappointed IMO, when the audience finally got a good look at them. They weren't scary at all, nor were they super tough to take out. I wish we were able to see more of them too. The movie went from a scary alien invasion movie, to an aliens passing by without much trouble movie in about a span of 20-30 minutes. All that said, I didn't hate the movie at all, and my girlfriend and I both enjoyed it. After Earth: 0/10 Nope. Happy Feeling gone. We stopped watching halfway through. You were so promising once, man. What happened?
  16. Oh man. If the minus is back, I could see Desi being in the negatives within the end of the week.

Wouldn't it be bad to go into his history and minus everything?

ah come on, give the guy a break once in a while

  17. Wedding Crashers: 9/10. Could not stop laughing throughout the whole movie. Such a classic. 42: 6/10. The Jackie Robinson movie. As an avid baseball fan, it was "eh". The story is an important one in history and the directors did a decent job portraying the struggles of racism that black athletes faced at this time period. But the movie itself kind of dragged, and Harrison Ford got to sleep walk through this one. I was expecting a baseball movie with hints of family and racial tension, whereas I got a movie that focused a lot on Jackie's family and his love life with hints of baseball.
  18. Vardy is reportedly close to an Arsenal move. Kante reportedly in talks with PSG and Chelsea. Mahrez reportedly in the early stages of Barcelona contact. Poor Leicester.
