  1. Going to my first ever Canucks game with my dad next weekend vs the Sharks. We’re going to be repping our Nux jerseys. Anyone going to the game?

  2. An all-female broadcasting team for the Montreal - Arizona game for today. This is quite fun. At the beginning of the season I didn't like how Hextall called the goals, it was very high-pitched (I guess she just tried to emulate the "excitement" of her male colleagues with the sudden rise of intonation), but now she calls them in a very different way, in a much lower pitch, finally creating her own unique style I guess. And more importantly, they have a really good chemistry. I like it a lot now.

  3. Look what I've got for Christmas from my friend! It took her 2 months to make it.

  7. I been lurking 'round these parts tonight so I thought I'd drop you a line. I hope you are well, my friend.

      You're so sweet. If I had more to say I'd come around. The on-ice product is leaving me speechless...

  9. why do we have a louie face? is that the ultimate put down or does it have another meaning? does it mean he is a good human being or a worthless one?

      If you feel it's immoral for someone to make millions while others starve, why watch professional sports at all? Bo is making millions; do you resent him?

      Money isn't everything. It's certainly something, but people still have feelings- even rich ones.

      It's very possible Loui doesn't care how people slag him. I hope he doesn't. Still, it's embarrassing and mean-spirited for the team's fans to viciously mock their own player, on a team-sponsored site no less. We look like a bunch of clowns right now.

      Joe, I've always appreciated the respect you've had for every player that puts on the sweater for our favorite team.

      It's sad to me how much people clown Loui, and the cruel comments they make about him. Yes, he's overpaid for his role, but that doesn't make him a monster or any less deserving of dignity than the stars on the team.

      There are several current Canucks I don't care for, but I doubt anyone could identify them since I keep the negative thoughts to myself.  It's like mom always said, "if you don't have anything nice to say..."

      This type of constant negativity drives folks away from CDC.

      Hi Beary. I am doing alright. We finally got a bit of rain. It was a light sprinkle for about 10 mins, but that was enough to scare away all the Trump protestors downtown :P Go figure!

      You know me, I just lurk periodically. I don't follow WJC but I'm glad the team gave us a little something to be proud of... I'm otherwise pretty ashamed of my country today (as usual).

      Twilight is doing ok as well from what I can tell. We keep in touch.

      Absolutely agree.

  14. While I wholeheatedly support the BLM movement, what precedent is set by stopping all sports when an issue like this comes up? There are several other social issues that are just as important. For example, child kidnapping and people trafficking, sexual abuse and related oppression, epidemic levels of drug overdose, local poverty and starvation, and these are just a few local issues. Go international and the number of issues explodes exponentially! Does this mean that sports should boycott games for each and every child abducted? or each person who dies from an overdoes on tainted drugs? for any person who is raped or sexually abused? All of the issues are just as deserving of the support. We would never have professional sports again, in my opinion, if boycotts are to be used with the same level discretion.

      You're one of just a handful of folks on this site that I really like. I'm so, so disappointed in this take.

      Yikes.

  15. Anyone have experience sliding in DM's?  If you're the slider but (besides your profile picture) your account is set to private (on IG), anyone have experience in nonchalantly raising the other person's interest through your chat?  (And yes I'm straight up asking, give flak if you'd like but also credit for being ballsy enough to shoot my shot)

      @BoKnows For me it would depend on how I knew him. If he was a real friend then ironically it would make me uneasy...like was he pretending to be my friend this whole time when really what he wanted was to holler at me? A friend of a friend or an acquaintance is a good middle ground- someone I know but not so close that I'd question their intentions. Stranger is tough because it seems too risky.

      Also, my personal feelings have changed as I've aged. I'm 30 now, and with hindsight can see that some guys I blew off as creeps in the past were probably well-meaning, just awkward or inexperienced. By that same token though my BS detector has been refined so I feel more confident in my own ability to weed out the bad apples. Also, after being burned plenty of times myself I have more of an appreciation for someone shooting their shot; now I know how hard that is to do without getting demoralized.

      I DM slid a guy a few weeks ago, and fortunately the conversation has lasted. I'm in the US and he's in Canada so obviously not gonna meet up, but fun just to chat and flirt mildly. Not sure if it's easier since I'm a woman approaching a man though.

      As a woman, I definitely interpret most attention from strange males as a threat, whether deserved or not just sort of been conditioned that way. As long as you're not rude or gross you might as well try!

  17. Well, looks like Leipsic is done in the NHL and probably professional hockey altogether, at least in North America.

  19. Would you do a Zoom video chat with other CDCers?

    A friend of mine did something like that tonight with folks from a facebook group for a podcast they all follow. She's "known" them for years, but this is the first time they've all spoken somewhat face-to-face. They had a great time and talked for hours! Might be a fun thing for folks to do here.

      @goalie13 Shhhhh, you're ruining it! :ph34r:

      @-AJ- My friend was worried about that, because the point of the chat wasn't actually to talk about the podcast. She said folks just talked about their lives and families, how they're coping with the pandemic, etc. They had a great time. I think it would be fun to have like a video (or audio) chat GDT type thing for some of these classic games they're showing.

      @Twilight Sparkle :(

      @smithers joe I'd throw down for a box at a game! I am always trying to meet more Canucks fans. Tough here in California.

      @coastal.view Still super single, actually just ended things with a guy. No kids, just a cat! No COVID-19, but I did have the flu last week; I'm feeling better now. My state has instituted a shelter in place order so I am stuck alone at home...which actually isn't any different than my typical lifestyle.

      @smithers joe Good to see you're still kicking! I hope you're well, my friend.

      @TNucks1 Hi!!
