Nicest goal, my ass... but wow, cool. -
It wasn't just the points, but the Cups, and individual trophies, let alone his international trophy case, that I think is unlikely to be matched, even by EP. It is unlikely that the Canucks, or any other team, wins what Kane has. No slight against EP, who is arguably the better player IMO. Heck of a career for Kane already and when he sets his next milestone, I want to see it. Canuck fans hoping not to see it against the Canucks, I get; a canned response, as I’ve said.

Not just the youth, but agree. If you’ve been around even one damn rink, anywhere in western Canada at least, you’d know how prevalent McJesus saves is. 100% fabrication and utter ignorance to suggest the kids coming up don’t cite or revere the guy. Just because they don’t claim to model their game after him isn’t a red flag as much as it might be respect, etc. No need to go into detail.

Merry/Happy, Baggins. Generalities. Both camps are right in their assessments, but it’s as you’ve wisely stated, they look for or notice what they don’t like. The Canucks haven’t just been dumping it in to facilitate a line change or get behind Dmen, it’s largely been their entry plan unless there’s room to do the Cliff Ronning - the button hook on the highboards - to develop an offensive zone anything. One thing we almost never ever see from them is a dump-in, while on the PP, but again, just an observation from the couch. Scotty Bowman and others must cringe when teams just hand over possession so easily, knowing it’s so hard to acquire. As an aside here, I like possession. I miss it. Players like Peter Forsberg wouldn’t just dump it in. He’d gain the zone, rag it, whatever, until his team could take over possession, then he’d complete his shift change. I’m sure analytics has something to do with the modern game’s pervasive chip-play where the far side forward tips a slap-pass from a Dman, at centre to facilitate a line change, handing over possession. I wring my hands and shake my head when I see them do it in the WHL or where ever. I’d rather take my chances by maintaining possession than get a full, clean line change in.

If that’s the case and he’s here to stay, we finally have legitimate power forward(s) on the team. It’s been a very long time since we could say that other than while being optimistic. Call me a skeptic. I watch Jake closely and he still has much to work on, but engagement doesn’t appear to be one of them. IMO, of course. Remember when the Province toilet paper put his name on the back page, titled, Goat? Puckers I was one of many on here who called, emailed and railed against that rag, and haven’t bought or looked at a Province paper since. Great story for BC and Abby to have the hometown kid drafted high to kick-off a rebuild (in a manner of speaking - no debate required) for the hometown Canucks. I love to see the BC boys in the line up. It makes me proud somehow, being a complete BC homer without rival.
