  1. I’m nervous. I know JB will sit on his hands until the TDL at the earliest and even then, what’s he going to do, part it out and rebuild still? He flucked himself by moving from construction to production last summer when he spent house money to plug holes left over from the “management” of those last few years. Fine, good even, but he put new expectations on himself. Buckle-up, JB. Here comes the dog days of winter, injures and the Pacific getting stronger. Since all the actual toughness is oft injured, what the hell, trade them all for all I care, JB. Build around your core with better versions of the support and key role players you have. Or don’t. This roster is still playoff-capable. All it has to do is get there and there could be magic. Remember though, there’s no penalties or PPs. Your finesse guys better hold up through that rough going. I’m on the fence. Sell. Buy. I don’t care as long as they aren’t pussies anymore, that’s all I care about right now.
  2. So much optimism for this guy. Gadjo will probably be the next player to get the forum’s support, despite clearly being a bubble player. Prove me wrong Gadjo, for the love of Gawd, do it.
  3. NL 610? Not many games were on TV like today. Had no choice, born into it in 74 and either the radio or the TV was showing the games and my dad and his dad were like zombies to it, so that’s why I’m also brain dead I guess. Then came the Jr. Oilers in Kamloops and I was hooked on hockey of all kinds, then I played etc. My first favourite Canuck was Sundström. I liked watching or hearing the fights with Fraser and all that good stuff. I used to come in from street hockey to watch the 82 playoffs, I knew it was special. Glad I did.
  4. St Louis, Tampa, Rags, Buffalo... I think you summarized our collective thoughts on our thoughts on his value or role here. Of all posters here, I hope it’s understandable how adverse I am to letting go of any resemblance of size and grit. This is no small thing to me to get my head around. What could we get for Jake, while he is currently playing at his peak value? More than we will next month I bet, haha, sorry Jake. Adam Graves? Edmundson? Lowry? Anderson? Jenner? Malkin. Ballard and a first. Nobody except the 31 GMs knows for sure. when I have more time I will try for an appropriate response. Deadlines at work...
  5. Trade Jake before his streaky play ends. Not because he sucks, but he’s a currency needed to execute trades with and because I don’t think he’s all that far from his ceiling, which is that of a fast, big body who has a ridiculously low hockey IQ for a 6 0A pick, but that’s a personal opinion. Love the BC boys more than I should, but I’m not emotionally attached to the “Just you wait - just another few years” story and the waiting for Jake to be something more than a depth player with upside, meanwhile. What does he do well that we cant replace? Skate? Lol Give dirty looks? Streak out a points run? Hit occasionally, but no real feistiness or willingness to initiate and rough it up? Package Jake with anyone of the other obvious trade chips and go after something great. If he is all the the things I fully expect to be flamed for on here now, he should fetch a hefty return all by himself. I’ve played the If and buts game on here for over 20 years now. I’ve been victimized by my own optimism for our kids since JJ Daigneault and Nedved as well guys, but I think I know what Jake is, and isn’t, by this point in his career and thus have no problem moving on if a trade is there that helps win down the road.
  6. Happy with the hits, goals and the EP show. Good game. I’m happy.
  7. Jake was wearing his tough guy costume a few shifts back, but then RR bullied him. Jake wants none of that. Funny. “Funny” because it reminds me of when The Boogieman (rip) stared down Tim Jackman, or whoever that very unwilling, scared guy that was. Remember?
  8. Tough guy-Jake bullied by RR, kinda funny, in a tragic kind of way.
  9. I’ve my signed Chicago away Probert sweater. Same # of course. Sometimes, when it’s a full moon, do you look up at it and think of me too, Joe Dirt, my long lost brother?
  10. It was just a push, on the hip. JL wasn’t even skating, like a crash into the end boards might see. Found our villain. Even JL is safe and off the hook tonight now. Silver linings - no crapping on the Canucks in the 3rd now that there is a new voodoo doll for the thread to play with
  11. 6’1 235lbs when he’s in peak shape, no surprise he’s 250+. Doing a fine job. He’s another good story of a long shot who beat the odds.
  12. That guy had a heck of a career after fighting his way up out of the minors as vet, etc. Respect.
