I like them.

I’m feeling nostalgic... Anyone remember when the Blues were a perennial powerhouse, like Washington was, but couldn’t seem to get anything going in the playoffs? For years in the early 90s and for several more, they were a great team. I miss that era of thuggery and all the magic we were witness to, but I especially miss the era of rugged Dman captains, like Foote, Stevens, Witt and this &^@#ing bastard... what a beauty. Find and draft one of these please, JB.

Meh, it was a canned answer, IMO. But it’s been all awesome thus far, agreed! Can’t wait until puck drop. The Blues used to be one of my alternate favourites anyways.

We know he is a fan of the game and he must be enjoying this season as much as we are. I hope he feels great about what he’s providing the fans with, he should. He could have been cheap during the rebuild, but wasn’t. He could have been an ass like that Ottawa owner-clown. He could have shipped out Benning and blamed Linden early on, but didn’t. He may be a meddling owner, but we’re lucky to have him and I love that he’s a fan, just like us.

He was professionally embarrassed and got caught with a poor phrasing or choice of words. I like that he said something and $&!# on the rival opposition. I like that he showed passion and a recklessness. I know it was poor form, but I like the edge and his disregard for feelz, etc. I don't want Bo to trash other teams really, but I hope he says things as real as possible. If he crosses the line, so be it. Good, even. This team needs some of that edge. I am enjoying everything they do this year and I bet it gets better and better.

This is a game where a guy like Jake needs to really shine. Who is the starter tonight?
-
I’d take Drew here any day and at a high price. Just sayin’. Canuck fans seem to forget what a great player he is, even if he’s getting older. He’d definitely make the team better and the price isn’t really all that far fetched, considering what they’re paying Edler.

What a beauty sweater! Been a long time since I saw one I’ve wanted for myself.

EP. One player changed the fortunes of this rebuild. However this club ended up at the #5 slot that year, is water under the bridge for many of us. I won’t go down that tired road anymore.
-
The game needs Characters. Drew is one of them. I’ll take his comments over the dry, rehearsed routine which players usually offer up in sound bites. The whining here over nothing is why the media and others laugh at this fanbases’ outrage culture. Nontraversy... move on people.

I think it’s Thornton and an old guard culture, similar to what was in Vancouver in about 2006-7 or so; the Country Club. That team needs a serious rebuild of character and desire. They have the talent, but not much else. Like you say, they also need a goalie. -

Cost of doing business, sure. Obviously, like Captain Obviously, what you said here is true. Would I offer my peaking/peaked core players forever contracts as some kind of empathy-gesture, knowing full-well the contracts will cripple any serious rebuild efforts in the future? No, honestly, no. Likely, this is my own preference, so take things I say with some salt here. I’d arrange for trades, etc and keep turning over the roster instead. An Aquaman may disagree, I get the business side too. Suter earned his yes, would you rather a better example of a failed contract to bolster my point? You are aware of them, possibly all of them, so using Suter may not be an appropriate starting point to use here, but I’m sure you understand how much of a borrowing effort is as a GM to saddle a big part of a team’s future options of ridiculous, NTC, etc contracts to players who will be a declining asset, possibly rapidly, which is typically the case. Perry, Dion, any number of buy-outs make this point. Why GMs are still doing it reminds me of our Government, spending money they don’t have to turn future generations into interest slaves. There’s no way back, unless it’s a buy out and that is against the future team’s cap. -
Great, interesting thread. Most expensive rebuild ever. All part of the plan... (lol ya, sure) that’s where my perspective will differ from most on here. I can forgive all of it because JB changed the character and style of play/players on the Canucks and for that, I graciously bow in respect. I like the style of game being played way more than I did the Sedin years, for instance. This franchise is no longer mired in disrespect and the circus routine it had become. Two Bennings is right, the one who listened to his boss and the other who was given the green light, I assume. I love this team.

He already is and was the day he was drafted, as far as offensive Dmen go, at least. And that’s pretty cool. -

I don’t get these contracts. How many have we seen? It really started with Minny signing those twin deals, for me. Chicago, etc. -

Troll someone who cares, buddy. Go away with that level of discussion and non-value. Your posts neither interest nor challenge me as far as discussing hockey or the Canucks roster goes. I’m not interested in playing insult-tag with you on here. There is a saying about those who talk about people rather than ideas, etc.
