  1. Minnesota and San Jose must be thinking trade. I doubt the Wild want to trade young players like Kunin or Hartman, let alone Greenway. As far as Canuck rental-type opportunity goes, Staal or Koivu could be monstrous add for this current roster. It would be interesting to see what options there were in such a trade scenario. Spit balling, of course.
  2. I’d look at adding Lowry and Edmundson, like I’ve suggested for the past few seasons. I think adding those two would place this team into playoff warrior status, on paper. More intimidation and pushback; mean-streaks. Sutter, Stetcher and Virtanen are who I’d be willing to part with other than what is currently in Utica, which I doubt has much value.
  3. Would Carolina want to do a trade for Jake and maybe Stetcher for Edmundson? Joel would look good here. Pretty much a 6’4 version of Troy who is a decent scrapper and has a mean steak. Not sure what value would be offered in return.
  4. Good to see the Coilers finally doing something right. NYI and Trotz are rolling. Matty Tkachuk with the goal for the ages. Lots of OT and shootouts, it’s been entertaining, but next to no real fights. Ovie and Sid are still doing their thing and challenging each other in their own little race. Delzaster and Guddy on the same line, again? Wow.
  5. If I may, his tone was neutral throughout and it wasn’t read as being rude from my end. I think you two are running nearly parallel here, for sure.
  6. I’d trade him if an offer was there. Quality FA goalies are a sure-fire fix and available most years. It’s the one position I wouldn’t spend much development on, or high picks, when you can buy them in their prime anyways.
  7. I’d trade a pick before a stud prospect, of course. I’d package Jake and a pick or two to get something, as I would with Sutter or Stetcher. Without having the trades to vote on, pretty tough to crystal ball up a scenario, since we don’t know what is in play out there.
  8. The assumption for the task of the questions should be that there are good trade options to be had, so in theory, yes, to both.
  9. Fully healthy, it’s a great team and definitely a playoff monster. Marky has been a huge part of this, as has been playing many bottom feeders or a sleepy Caps squad, who still came back. The January grind will reveal what is what. Sutter and Tanev will never have a higher trade value than right now, before they get hurt. Jim must be thinking hard on that. I’d look at Adam Lowry and ‘consider’ shopping Jake to a team like Carolina or Philly, possibly for a Dman like Edmundson. There wasn't much snarl without Firkland in the lineup against the Sharks. The team needs pushback coming from multiple sources.
  10. Just wanted to add here that while team speed may have improved this season, what we are seeing is a willingness to use it as being the biggest change. The team wants its, so they take it. The desire this group shows is impressive. I still think that mainly comes from EP, the skinny, gutsy, never-quit skill guy who leads by example, but that’s just an opinion and an aside. The battle level is finally like it used to be a very long time ago.
  11. And Virtanen is also a very low IQ player. I think I’ve seen enough of both of these guys, but also know they’re not going anywhere. I’d seriously consider trading both Tanev and Sutter right now. They are both playing excellent... and they’re not injured. There will never be a better time to trade them for full value. Too bad the team needs them as bad as they do.
  12. If they were Canucks, there’d be statues of them on every street.
  13. The brutality and violence in hockey delivers an element of entertainment and fandom that Women’s hockey just can’t match. Even if the league gets up off the ground, it will be doomed to nothingness and I wager that it will be a business failure before long and once the gender equality myths are fully realized out there. I get a kick out of in this sport - the gobs of fake-up these ladies wear under their visors.
  14. I thought I’d learn something in this thread... Good idea for a thread though @Jimmy McGill
  15. Would I pay 20 bucks to watch one of these games? mehhhh... Would you? Would I spend the three hours it would take to go do that? No. Entertaining as it may be for some, it isn’t to me. Would you? If there is a market, good, as for anything. Should this business be subsidized? I don’t think so. It should be profitable on its own merits, not inclusion or other identity politics pressure, which is where most of the support appears to be coming from.
  16. Wasn’t that awesome? I liked how the Kings played-up to the Canucks level of youthful enthusiasm. The Canucks are not only a fun team to watch, but I bet to play against as well. Teams get-up to play against us now. That in itself is really something noteworthy. Clifford has had a heck of a career. Wished we would have snagged him wayyy back. Firkland meant business in that scrap. When was the last time we saw a non huggiebear scrap on the Canucks? Its been since Ripper or Sestito, I guess. EPs shot made me laugh and laugh. Shades of Bure. That was a beauty. The three stars from Cheech were great too. The core. Anyone know now when OJ will get a shot? I suppose it will take an injury to get him up. I’d like him here to see how he is while the team is, dare I say... dominating. Our D had a solid game. Myers and Benn are excellent complimentary Dmen. Need some stiff competition to solidly their standing out there amongst the rest. I cant wait for the next Coilers game. Should be wild west hockey.
