  1. We chased away the past content creators and replaced those threads with this stuff. Look at the Forum now. What is being discussed? Its never been so dull. Even the petting threads are flat. I am aware what a counter to this comment comment might be, but there’s no denying that this forum is a morgue, despite winning, etc, as if that what made this forum interesting for the past few decades. The fun in any of these threads is the shots we take at bold, early predictions, etc. I get that too.
  2. Seabrook for Loui, etc, are other depth D possibilities. I’m sure there are several. Tree is largely an unknown in many aspects. Edit... Bolded for those who are have issue with nuances within the English language.
  3. These Chicken Little, premature threads are a bad idea every season, yet people bite.
  4. The product and work environment is much better than the previous years, no question. I finally get to watch the Canucks play heavy hockey again instead of what was here before. They battle now. They have character and some swagger now. 189lb Approved.
  5. It feels good, doesn’t it?! The depth, the future, the battle level and the product... it’s been a great year so far. I did not know this about Madden. I’ve not been following much this year due to home reno stuff, etc. I’ll be heading over to look at what our prospects are up to after reading this. Thanks! Can someone tell me how Gaudette is doing in Utica, or is it too soon to say?
  6. No, but making moves must be up the sleeve of Benning. Sutter might be the first player on the current roster I’d look to trade out for futures, etc. Gaud hasn't shown me enough yet, but he projects well. So maybe I’m jumping the gun on trading Sutter out so Gaud can play. Sutter’s value is only high when he’s not injured, which is now! What are the odds that he’ll be hurt again, Alf? Its a good roster. I wouldn’t trade out much unless it made them even tougher for playoff hockey. For the first time in years, I’m content with the roster.
  7. Part of me hopes he puts the entire Canucks roster through the boards. The other part knows he’ll likely be on the bench instead. I will always cheer for this guy.
  8. Why anybody would want this piece of trash on their team and in their community is beyond me. It’s not all about winning, which Kane can help a team do, but at what cost. I’ve enjoyed Reeves making him his bitch.
  9. He’s was like Savard is in Columbus, a warrior and a reliable defensive Dman.
  10. Too bad his name and stature within the market was used as a human shield and bug deflector during the re-thingy’s messy beginnings here. Glad to see him separating himself from all of it now. He’s earned it.
  11. The difference in character and team identity this year is incredible. I never cared about the win-loss record as a Canucks fan, not after all those crappy 80’s, 90’s and later seasons. Those galvanized me as a fan. The silver lining of those many, mannnny losing seasons was that the team identity was that of a warrior. Johnny Canuck was a pacific NW mountain man and guys like Snepts etc played the game the right way, win or lose and never lost a battle on will alone. It’s what I identified with as a kid and now as a greybeard, of sorts, I feel like that team/fan-identity is back. This season has been a reprieve for me. I was losing hope and interest in the team. I think they’re really close now... This team’s destiny is whatever Markstrom can do this year. His importance to their chances are paramount. Marky carries this team. I assume we’ve all recognized that after last night’s outing by the boys.
  12. Great post. And as you’ve stated, they got a point out of it. That’s pretty good considering the opposition.
  13. Give the Capitals credit. That was a gutsy win for a tired squad, proving they’re still an elite club and a contender. Good to still see that in the NHL. There were a few gaffs and a few poor calls, but I actually enjoyed the team game of the Canucks. They didn't lose because they were playing scared or from a lack of talent or even desire. That is a massive upgrade on last years’ fan-experience, for me at least. I though Tanev was excellent last night. Our shootout roster needs to change. I’d put QH out there in the top 3. Not just because of his obvious skill, but because he’s an unknown still. Take advantage of that. One last thing... I enjoy watching this team in OT. I find myself cheering for a tie these days, just so I can watch the kids dominate. They started that OT period with a minute and a half of possession. Fun.
  14. OT!! Thats pretty much my favourite thing about modern NHL, especially our awesome Triangle of Death.
  15. Now he can feed skilled wingers and have some fun. I hope he does.
  16. I’d rather see Firkland run him over and not bother hurting his hand on his face.
  17. When the trade was made nobody here knew that JB was going to be out buying his way out of trouble to supplement this trade with. So any early bitching about the trade didn’t have the benefit of knowing the team was transitioning from the R-thingy to win within a weeks time. Miller plays a game I enjoy, but I wouldn’t have guessed, no matter how much I wanted it to happen, that the Canucks abandon their “rebuild” strategy and go after all sorts of quality UFAs on July 1. Lots of players get off to a great start every year. Usually around 25 players rock a PPG average through the first 20-30 games until the grind catches up. At game 82, there’s typically, what, 5-10 PPG players left? Lets see where Miller ends up. Either way, I’m glad JB traded for character and damn spine for the Canucks. They sure are more fun to watch of late.
  18. No kidding. Ha, good to hear. He’d be an intimidating man still, but in a good way. He’s another classic good-guy. I’m glad kids have men like him to model themselves after in the sport.
  19. Agreed, there are various ways to view the content in this forum, but I disagree with why, or at least the premise surrounds losing/rebuilding. The team was a winner for several or more seasons prior to the R-thingy and the negativity surrounding it. During those winning years, these boards were not the morgue they are today, IMO, anyways. So, I disagree that it’s a result of winning or losing seasons. Meh, not a hill to die on, just saying.
