  1. So few shots. Its a tight game. I like TM’s overall game tonight and BB is really going too. The Canucks D has done a terrific job, as has Philly’s. JV has stayed disciplined. Marky looks like a wall of confidence. Glad to have hockey back.
  2. Quite the bar. I wonder how many other team’s have retired numbers for that little. It used to mean something to retire a number.
  3. I loved his game too, not so much at the end, but whatever. I just wouldn’t be putting his name up in the rafters. Nothing more to it. We have so little to point to that we are going to hold up Bert’s few years as a defining moment in Canucks history? Our franchise must have the lowest criteria in all of professional sports for retiring numbers and the like. I’d like to stop that trend, not support it.
  4. Setting the bar pretty low. Everybody loved Bert, but this tradition of celebrating mediocrity and retiring guys like Naslund’s number isn’t what the team or even it’s players should aspire to be. The ring will grow and grow until it means literally nothing. A 100 point season and a few 80’s gets your number retired here. That’s pathetic.
  5. Tell this to all the whining faction which was busily posting about the lack of skill, etc. during that epic 2-game losing streak to start the season, not me. Miller is 189lb enforcers-approved hockey. That should be a given. I didn’t have any complaints when he was acquired, nor did I during his first two games. It should come as no surprise to you or anyone else that I’d be a fan of his game and more importantly that I wasn’t snivelling in here or in other threads about the roster or his place within it.
  6. One of these days, the Coilers will get their stuff together. If the can get a hot goalie and go on a run, the playoffs are there in this weak conference.
  7. You forgot the modifier, in smashing. I agree it was a success, maybe even a smashing success, but probably for different reasons than the average response. I like the physicality aspects of each move, for instance. It’s about identity and brand to me. However, a smashing success? Hardly. The guy spent house money to cover his previous mistakes. Since when would spending your way out of trouble be considered a smashing success, for any manager, ever? I give JB lots of credit for buying this team a spine, but let’s not forget why he had to in the first place. I really like his trades and several draft choices, but even I could have thrown gobs at money at players and had this forum gushing. Success or smashing success? I will go as far as success, but that’s about it, so I guess I’m in disagreement with the premise or the task of both of your statements/questions.
  8. Sure, that’s why they traded for him, agreed. But that’s not my point, nor the early birds’ chiming in here over the past several hours.
  9. The NHL product is definitely a different beast than it once was. I don't watch nearly as much of it as I once did. I will watch when 87 is playing or when EP is, but really, there’s not a lot left that keeps me excited about the game anymore. I can’t recall the last time I watch all 60 minutes of a regular season game. The playoffs are still where its at. Even then, it’s still different, just a whistle-less version, but with extra liberties. The NHL has lost a lot of viewers as it gains its new audience. The trickledown to the CHL and even minor hockey is another boring aspect of the changes I don’t like in hockey. Bottom line is, the NHL product has changed. Consumers can pay for and support that product or casually observe or even boycott it completely. At least my Canucks aren’t a bunch of sissies this season, so I’ll pay more... attention.
  10. Amazing what one game will do for the fans posting on this site. A day ago it was doom and gloom. Today it’s bunnies and puppies.
  11. Meh, what am I supposed to say here? Thanks for the reply just the same. I’m not going to change how you think, we both know that, regardless of what you think.
  12. Since when is discussion lol? Learn how to debate. Dare to open your closed-mind. Go burn a witch, champ.
  13. This channel has plenty of video-context for the climate change discussion. Take a scroll. It’s pretty good. There’s lots to choose from that takes on the sophistry behind the hysteria, which I think is an important aspect to this discussion. I like the message of this video concerning actual, not perceived, cost/benefit to us home owners for green energy. It’s one thing to support green whatever, but another to pay for it, which I think is the point in this interesting video.
  14. I’d take the Flames roster into a playoff war, that’s no place to Neal at McJesus’ feet.
  15. I’d take McCann back. Should have worked Biega into a package deal with the Pens.
