  1. There are no words to describe how disappointed I am in this move. Back in the day we'd discuss the Canucks on usenet, then it moved here to CDC and now we've got to move again. I'm getting too old for this sh*t. In honour of the old days, I'm calling myself Foamys Ghost over there. Speaking of which, what ever happened to foamy?
  2. 4 years. However we also have six years of cap hit to deal with from the Ekman-Larsson buyout. We may be in trouble this season depending on the injury reserve situation.
  3. He dominated in the playoffs. I'm excited to see what the coming year brings.
  4. It's hard to compare Petey to Lekkerimaki. The latter played games in the SHL at the same age Petey was still in the SWE-1 division. Djurgardens was relegated to SWE-1 this season. He had a foot injury the previous season and a concussion this season. These factors kept him out for half of both seasons. Finally healthy at the end of the season, he put up a point a game in the playoffs. If he start the season in Abbotsford I could see him cracking the NHL line up part way through the season if he stays healthy.
  5. Podz was working very hard against the Islanders. Forecheck, backcheck, making great plays. If he can bring this every night he doesn't need to go back to Abbotsford.
  6. Nothing wrong with his contract. It's one way, but that only leaves out a team like Phoenix, who are saving money rather than cap space. A 750k contract can be completely buried in the minors. The real question is whether Martin would be picked up by a team that needs a goalie.
  7. My point wasn't the goalies, not making excuses for them. It was calling Miller out for wasting his energy in a non-productive direction - and in a way that does not help team morale. Are you saying that goalies are the problem? I think they might be part of it, but there are a lot of problems to resolve right now.
  8. Trade Miller for whatever you can get for him. He's dragging the team down at this point and Kuzmenko is a much more positive addition. I'd try to keep Bo but if you can't get a solid defender in return. Might be time to move Boeser if possible, maybe Garland. None of our current top 6 D are as bad as it looks right now and we do have some talent in Abbotsford. Maybe Wolanin is ready. If our current management is any good they'll find a way to make the needed improvements or realize it's time to burn it down and start fresh.
  9. If he'd take all of the emotion he's throwing away on little tantrums and channel it in to playing solid defensively like he has done in the past he may have saved Bruce's job. Well, JT and a few others. Offence has been very good this year, defensively the team's a train wreck. It's making some decent goalies look bad.
  10. There are several publicly available flight tracking web sites. It is laughable for someone to bitch about a twitter account publishing that publicly available data.
  11. Aaand he gets his call up. Let's see if he plays.
  12. I'm in Hawaii right now and went to bed early. It was 4-0. I woke up in the middle of the night with a bit of indigestion and it's 7-6 Canucks. I wonder how the doom and gloom crowd from the game day talk feel now?
  13. The problem last night was a pretty common problem with this team. They were brilliant, but only for at most half of the game. First period PK was exactly what it should be - aggressive on the puck, active sticks, minimising shots to near zero. After that, more passive and less effective. First period 5 on 5, the Canucks took the initiative, moved the puck out of their own zone well, forechecked hard and created chances. After that, not so much. The fix isn't necessarily personnel, it's lighting fires under butts.
  14. Yeah, there are a lot of good things about their game tonight. Nashville is still doing them a lot of favours and making them look even better than they deserve despite the solid game they're playing..
  15. Well what do you know? When you stop being mostly passive observers and get aggressive on the PK, you can actually kill some penalties! Why did this take more than 10 games to figure out?
  16. This might be the year he breaks out. He has been kind of plateaued since his rookie season. While he's been doing a lot of good things to develop his game like become effective on the PK and developed his defensive game, he hasn't had that breakout season into the super star we all know he can be. With 15 points in 11 games, especially given the slow start the team has had, this could bode well for this being the year we see that special player finally emerge from his cocoon.
  17. After showing some skill and not getting rewarded for a few games Kuzmenko has really shown what he can accomplish. Next task: show he can do it for a full season.
  18. Anyone who can fix the PK is fine by me. The pieces are there, but the plan and execution are embarrassing.
