You don't have to prove anything, however, if you don't provide much more than vague hand waving to back your opinion, the rest of us won't place much value on your conclusion. Boucher and Lind aren't the same player, you need to drop the false equivalency here. They both play in the AHL and they both play hockey, but they have very different skill sets. Boucher is not a high pressure fore checker. Boucher does have good hands and good offensive insticts, but hasn't been able to translate that to the NHL. Keep comparing apples and bananas if you like, but there's nothing to be had by such comparisons. Lind may or may not progress enough to become an NHLer, for now, he's a prospect trending well. Watch his games, you might like what you see.

To create an equivalency, you must first prove that Lind is the same kind of player as Boucher or Bailey, otherwise you are merely making false equivalencies and using stats in ways you have pooh poohed others for using in the same post. Boucher doesn't seem to be able to make the next step at all, Bailey might, but his window is closing. Lind has made great strides this season and has pushed his way up the depth chart. You don't do that without making improvements in your game. Watch him play and then come back and tell us what you see as his deficiencies if that's your thesis. For myself, I'm satisfied with his progress, although his defensive awareness could improve somewhat. He forechecks well and has pretty good offensive vision.

If you discount the games the Canucks had a lot of power play goals in, the power play isn't very good. Who whoulda thought, right? Some of these guys really reach to try to make an imaginary point. I think the power play could use consistency and in fact probably could use some tweaking to certain kinds of adjustments other teams are making but it's not bad at all. They'll get more versatile as they get more experienced, they are a very young squad on the pp. Is Miller the oldest guy on PP1 and then Horvat? Boeser, Petey and Huggy are all still far from where they will peak.

Stech plays bigger than he weighs in by a long shot. He was very obviously outworking Sharks forwards along the boards tonight. He brings it every night. No quit in the kid.

Third line was on fire tonight. Petey was Petey. Good team effort and solid goal tending by the kid. -
Look at the list of players who's contracts are up. Markstrom and Tanev are about the only ones you might really want to sign again, but you can survive without either if you are in a crunch. The rest are guys like Shaller and Leivo for UFA and some RFAs who likely aren't going to cost a ton if they fit the plan. There are a lot of guys on the Comets that are ready to give the show a run and won't cost a ton. The expensive contracts aren't even until the year after, at which time some moderately expensive UFAs come off the books (Sutter, Pearson, Baertschi, Edler). You'll need to re sign Petey and Huggie at that time and the money will be there. Signing Sutter and Edler should be doable if that looks like a good way to go by then.

4-2 Canucks Sharks lead in penalty minutes -
And at the same time, Brown saved his own career by putting Hughes on the 1st pp and switching up Brock and Petey's sides (oh, and adding a big of a different look here and there). PP and PK both top 5 in the league. I think we should go around digging up old topics to revisit now that the team is rolling and looking like a possible contender.

3-2 Canucks win. Canucks score first Miller with the 1st. -
I was a fan of this signing from the get go. Benning had an even better off season than I thought he did. I had given him a B+ on it initially, but I'm revising his grade to A+. Amazing transformation of the team.

He's being coy and somewhat truthful at the same time. They changed by adapting to the changes the opposition teams have made. The opposing teams have been assigning players to stick just a bit closer to Petey and Brock this season. This has opened up the middle, and Miller has been given the task of taking that space. Note how often Petey in particular is slipping Miller the puck in the slot on the PP now. If they change their alignment to cover him more, it leaves either Petey or Brock open for the one timer. Along with Edler's much better shooting from the point and Miller's work down low when the puck goes up to Edler, it's resulting in way better scoring chances than the previous perimeter play trying to get the shots from Petey and Brock when the coverage was on them. On the game in general, I think I'm on board with the majority of the comments. This was a much better physical battle from a Canucks team. Probably the best we've seen in years. The Benning plan is starting to come together. Every single addition over the Summer has been making meaningful contributions and has plugged a gaping hole in our line up. Quinn is possibly as big a steal in the draft as Petey was. He and Tanev make each other better players. Demko had a terrific game after the goal. The fourth line played physical, hustled hard, and didn't give the only scoring threat the WIngs had on the ice much of a chance to keep them in the game. When the WIngs got frustrated, everyone pushed back (partly, I believe, because they know they have guys like Ferland, Miller, Myers and Benn on their side). Stecher stood up for himself, and sure, it cost a pp, but at that point, standing up was more important. Petey is starting to throw hits. He's starting to look more like Forsberg the elder all the time. This is becoming a team to recon with. Of course, it's easy to be positive after a three game home stand with lots of practice time between games. There will be ups and downs all season, and a tough road trip ahead. -
Kole Lind is really doing extremely well once you consider his age and draft year. Gaudette for contrast, is three years older (23 vs 20), and since Gaudette went the college route, has a few more years experience playing against men. Playing this high up the depth chart in Utica is a testament to his progress. Both statistically and eye test have shown Kole to have made significant strides. He's identified areas he needed to work on and done a commendable job of getting the job done. Playing with an AHL dominant player like Boucher doesn't hurt, but he's making the most of his opportunity so far. He's maybe one or two years out for making the NHL I'd think.

Sven and Goldy were delayed because you need work visas for the US for a US based team. As to your first point, you are the victim of fake news regarding volcanoes. Just google it - and fact check stuff like this before spreading it.

I hope a broadcaster hires KB to do all of their post game interviews. Much better than the typical interview.

Many fans don't want actual facts to mess up their current ire with a guy who made a mistake in the most recent game. Your logic is just confusing for their righteous indignation.

I'm going to venture an unpopular opinion here. Loui is not as bad a player as many here make him out to be. For sure he's not living up to the big contract, that is completely unquestionable. However, he is a defensively responsible player who makes mostly smart plays. Defensively, he anticipates the play pretty well, which results in not being out of position often. Some mistake this for 'lazy play', but I'm not sure they understand the flow of the game well enough to make this judgement. They also criticise him for dumping the puck into the o zone and changing. News flash: Greener wants short shifts and this is just following the coaches plan. Nobody is going to make a huge splash playing on the 3rd and 4th lines. They don't get big minutes and often spend a decent amount of time killing penalties. Neither of these things contribute to putting up big numbers on the stat sheet. Again, I'm not saying that LE is a great player, just that he's a decent player who is better than the guys who got cut. While it might be good to have a guy like McEwan building some NHL experience right now, it's not going to win more games at this stage. I don't know what kind of influence LE is in the locker room, but at his salary, you have to hope he keeps it positive. In fact, you have to hope he comes out and tries to be the best 3rd/4th liner he can be. So far he's just passable, and I for one hope there's more than that in him. Like Jake, it's up to him to rise to the occasion and make something happen.

I agree with all of your points. He's doing extremely well for such a young player. He struggled with Draisaitl along the boards all night long. However, he did strategically apply the body in a couple of situations quite well. I have no concerns that this will be a long term problem for him and expect him to have it worked out over the next couple of years. In the meantime, we'll likely see him become even more dominant playing with the puck. He has such excellent edge control and vision that it's hard not to get excited.

I'm pretty pumped to see Gaudette stay up. I like the Horvat quote on it about playing in the NHL is the best development. Nobody gifted Horvat ice time and he had to earn it the hard way and Gaudette is doing the same thing now. These are the guys who end up being core players for years when guys like Goldobin are possibly forgotten - unless they learn the lesson of hard work and earning it every single day. -
I don't think we have to be tremendously worried about 'asset management' We have more than enough depth down in Utica to cover injuries. Therefore, I'd not be completely averse to keeping Gaudette up with the Canucks to start the season at least. For sure, I'd send down Schaller and Goldobin first, neither of them has the upside we need right now and Gaudette showed well in pre-season. As a third or fourth line winger, I'd be happy to see him on the squad, and he could slide in to center as needed. He's shown enough offensive skill that he could fill in the spots that Goldobin could have otherwise. Motte is definitely a better defensive bottom six player. Eriksson, although much maligned, is probably overall a better player. There's not a ton of room to squeeze Gaudette into the starting roster, but since he'd be easier to send down than others, it's not a stretch to see him be kept up until Boeser is healthy or possibly even Roussel. I'm a big fan of his game, and I'd love to see him develop in the NHL.
