I'm not entirely sure I agree with you but I have to commend you on a very well reasoned position. It certainly deserves some further pondering. The only thing I would add that was brought up in the coaching thread is that the systems being run on the team are either not being implemented fully by the players or are faulty to begin with.
  2. As much as I like the results Boudreau produced last year, I have to agree that the systems right now are a big part of the problem. There is too much passivity in the PK and defensively 5 on 5. Too much collapsing down and not enough covering the point man (5 on 5). You can play man to man, you can play modified zone, but you have to be cautious of playing a collapsed zone. This is how guys get injured and how you get trapped in your own zone for over a minute when you want 30-40 second shift times. The Canucks spend too much time in their own zone, get outshot by a wide margin and lose games as a result. It is not a terribly difficult fix but it's shocking nothing has been done about it to this point.
  3. As I said, I disagree. Like most players, he needs line mates to provide the best result. As to his shot, it's one of the best on the team. Few are better from the left side. Entitled to your opinion, of course.
  4. I would disagree, but don't want us to make that trade anyway. Minnesota has been a tire fire 5 on 5 this season. Addison is one of the reasons why. Sure, he's got 7 assists in 8 game, but that on it's own isn't sufficient. I think we're better off with Bear. Boeser on the other hand is a real tangible asset. He's regularly a 20+ goal scorer even with all of the injuries that have plagued him. When healthy, he's a 30 goal scorer. He's done a fair bit to work on his back checking and neutral zone coverage although it's still a bit of a weakness for him. He could be trade bait going forward but he's still a talented player. Its just that we have a lot of talented forwards right now, some of whom are cheaper and we might need his cap space to re-sign them next year.
  5. User name checks out. I hope so as well, it's been a while since Gino played here.
  6. Miller-Horvat-Garland I'd hate to be the d-man on the chip and chase against that line.
  7. Bear had a great last year in the WHL for the Thunderbirds. Third on team scoring just behind Barzal. I expect a lot of this was being on the #1 PP unit but I haven't followed the team enough to know what transpired. He broke in to the NHL at 20, played a whole season at 22 after spending his 21 year old season in the AHL. That's a pretty fast start for a 5th round defence. When is the last 5th round d-man we've had break in to the league.... at all? Oh yeah, Forsling.
  8. Pearson brings a very solid all round game when he's playing his best. Friday night he did so many little things well. Positioning himself on the half wall to provide an outlet and break the pressure in the defensive zone, he had a nice goal, he fore-checks well and throws hits. I like how he managed all of this while playing 4th line and 2nd unit PP. This is the kind of play we need from the bottom six, but in Pearson's case he can play all up and down the line.
  9. He looked particularly great but it's only one game. If he can bring that consistently that would be great.

You don't run on adrenaline and luck for 60 games.
  11. If we aren't in a playoff spot by trade deadline, blow it up and start over again. This is the last chance before saying 'enough already'. Until then, I'll be cheering whatever positives that can be found.
  12. I liked a lot of Rathbone's game despite the team sucking hard. A bit more time at the NHL level and he should iron out a few of the issues he's having moving up to a higher paced game.
  13. I wouldn't say Kuzmenko has been invisible but he's only been partially noticeable. He's shown flashes of high skill and effort that haven't panned out some times due to no fault of his own (for example setting up Podkolzin who didn't finish for whatever reason). This is pretty endemic right now on the team. Someone makes a really nice play and someone else flubs it. Nobody is down right terrible, but everyone is dropping the ball (read that losing the puck) at critical moments. It's a hard thing to coach a team out of. Here's hoping BB has an answer.
  14. People harassing players out with their families need to just stop. Miller needs to get cranked up and bring it. That is all.
  15. I'm not as opposed to the jersey throwing as some of you. If I were a player and was performing like this, I'd understand the message and you can bet I'd be giving it everything I've got and then some next time out. I'll be disappointed if we don't see a hungry mean looking group out there on there on the ice tonight. If things don't change, I'd be leaning towards blowing it up and rebuilding before the assets no longer have any value.
  16. We got a GM change because JB wouldn't fire MG. Eventually you wear it. The conundrum right now is why BB can't get these guys fired up now when he had them going so well for the last 2/3 of last season. It's quite frustrating.
  17. Canucks 4-2 GWG Pettersson I am a fan and I'll keep predicting wins until I'm right.
