  1. If you want Jake to fight, you will be complaining about another player who is a crappy fighter and loses every time he fights.
  2. Definitely a good comparison there. You can also add Nino Niederreiter as a comparable. Same size, playing style, 5th overall, absolutely struggled in the first 3 years of his career, bouncing from AHL to NHL. Now a perennial 25 goal, 50 point power forward.
  3. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if HBO is saving this stuff for a potential prequel series. Hard to believe they would abandon the world of Westeros once GoT is over.
  4. Agreed. Not sure how it would affect the overall theme and tone of the show but it would be cool to see an entire episode from the perspective of the the Night King and the Whitewalkers next season.
  5. Indeed, not doubting Jonah's performance at all. I think Button is credible but he is known to pick favorites, there were times during this year's draft where he stated that he had a "man crush" on a certain player. Clearly Jonah isn't one of those man crushes. I'd expect Jonah to challenge for a spot if he has a good start to the season, wouldn't surprise me at all if he scored 50-60 goals this year.
  6. I doubt it's that. This year is actually the final year of World Junior eligibility for Gadjovich and Lind, they will be too old for next year's squad because they are both late 1998 birthdays.
  7. Hate to say it, but I see him more of a Zack that we used to know.
  8. You can justify your argument all you want, but these guys are barely a month over their draft. How can you honestly believe that the Canucks missed out on the better player? And what if they took Middlestadt at 5, would you find a way to whine about the Canucks not taking Glass/Vilardi as well?
  9. If we didn't sign Sturm, we never would have gotten the legendary David Booth.
  10. Marco Sturm says hello. But yes, I generally agree with this.
  11. Yes, I did - maybe I don't understand why him being a lock for the roster has anything to do with him playing in the Young Stars tournament. I think they are two separate things. Wasn't that your question?
  12. My point is no prospect is above or better than the Young Stars Tourney. Why do you think Brock gets an exception? I am sure he doesn't mind the extra play time at all.
  13. If McJesus can play in this tournament, then Brock can.

  16. As much as I dislike Gooncic and his attitude, he's a good player. I'll be pleasantly surprised if Jonah ever scored 60+ pts in the NHL while being a big physical presence. Maybe my expectations are low of him, but I'd be happy if he ended being a Ferkland type player for us.
  17. Lucic didn't play in Boston until his draft +2 year. He played one full season in the WHL after getting drafted, just like Jonah will - he's not making the team this season.
  18. You must have been up all night looking for this. Hope it was worth it.
  19. I doubt Virtanen will make the Canucks lineup on opening night, but if it's the NHL or AHL, he needs to make progress this season. Typically the third season as a pro is where most "power forward" type players make progress as a pro hockey player. I'd be disappointed if he doesn't reach the 20 goal plateau in the AHL, assuming he spends most of the season in Utica. If he doesn't find his offensive game this season, I doubt he will accumulate to anything more than a bottom 6 grinder. But again this is just based on comparable players in the past, he could be a late bloomer for all we know.
  20. Baby Driver: 9/10 - I didn't except it to be the movie it was going to be, action packed, filled with comedy, romance and great music Spiderman Homecoming: 8/10 - Fun superhero movie, good cast but I don't think it brought anything new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe The Big Sick: 9/10 - I highly recommend this, one of the better romantic comedies I've seen in a long time
  21. I probably should have clarified that no Canucks draft pick has scored 100 pts in major junior since Brandon Reid. Also Fox was signed half way through the season he scored 60+ goals, 100+pts, (he already had 68 pts when he was signed) so he really doesn't count.
  22. If there are no injuries and he doesn't make the WJC team, I can see Lind scoring 100 points this year. The Canucks haven't had a prospect score at least 100 points in major junior since Brandon Reid did it back in 2000-2001.
  23. With the Canucks terrible luck and the fact that some of the team has to travel half way across the world to play pre-season games, I honestly would not be surprised if one or two guys on the back end went down with injuries before the season even started. It seems to happen every year, and thus opening a spot for Juolevi (barring a solid training camp of course).
  24. I am sure that the majority of people here know that the Canucks made the wrong pick in 2014. I think it's actually safe to say that Nylander, Ehlers and even Nick Ritchie would have been the better choice at #6.
