Soft as butter 1st line. You need a healthy mix of grit and skill in the top 6 to prevent yourself from being manhandled in the playoffs. Actually, that top 9 is way too soft and small. If the likes of Boeser, Dahlin, and Goldobin all pan out as top 6 you will see the likes of Baertschi and Granlund being dealt.

The Leafs didn't really have much toughness other than Martin and Boyle. Komarov is a gritty type of player tho. They mostly used their speed and skill which is what I see in this line up. If Virtanen reaches his potential and becomes a high end hitter and sign some Martin type players for the 3rd/4th lines then that's enough.

Today's NHL is more focused on skill and the Leafs almost beat the President trophy winners by using that model.

shouldve drafted tkachuk imagine him with Bo and Baer

Okay and who would be your #1D in a couple years? That's what I thought. Forwards are easier to get than defenseman.

We have a Tkachuk in Virtanen albeit Tkachuk is better right now but JV has that potential.

Can anyone update us on how well Jake is doing?

Edit: Just looked at his stats on hockey db. 7 pts and -4 in 23 games. Wow, those numbers call into question...is JV a #bust?!

:picard: CDC, where people call a 20 year old a bust. He has been misused and he hasn't matured. Not everyone is a Horvat. Let's wait a few years to make an accurate assumption.

Heck the Sedins would be labeled as busts by the time they were 20 and look where they are now.

    Patience.

Jake is going to be warrior for our team. Let him mature a bit in Utica and get stronger. Make no mistake about it he plans to do what ever it takes to make it to the NHL. He will improve defensively under Green just like Shinkuruk and Gaunce did. I still think Boesser will be our #1 RW, William Lockwood our #2 RW and Jake will be our #3 RW.

He told me he sees himself as a Michael Ferland type of player. Im ok with that. Jake skates really fast, he can create offensive opportunities and he will hurt the other team with his forechecking.

He will be a beast of a third liner allowing our coach a lot of options

When and where did he tell you this? Don't lie and be honest

Good pick but Schneider is an elite goalie. Gillis should of received way more in that trade. We lost that trade but Bo is a great player and Im excited to watch him for years to come

There's a difference between losing a trade and not getting as much as you should have.

Yes we could've gotten more for Schneider but this is a win-win trade. We needed a center and right now I think Bo has 1C and captain material written all over him. Devils found there replacement for Brodeur but then again the Devils haven't made it to the playoffs with Schnieds and we've made it once with Horvat so..not really a loss.

I just heard Sven on 1040 from the "jail cell".  I am so impressed with him, I really hope he builds on last season.  Reasonable expectations?  I say 18G 25A 43Points.  Could be more if he gets a regular 2nd line role.

I say 23G 28A 51 points as I think he'll produce on consistent minutes from the second line and PP.

  7. For next years draft this is what I'm dreaming for: A first line LW

    2017 draft-Horvat-Boeser

    Baertschi-XX-Virtanen

    Juolevi-Tanev

    Hutton-Gudbranson

    Tryamkin-Subban

    Demko

    Marky

Or draft Timothy Liljegren:wub: and trade Tanev for a first line LW

    Trade for LW-Horvat-Boeser

    Baertschi-XX-Virtanen

    Juolevi-Liljegren

    Hutton-Gudbranson

    Tryamkin-Subban

    Demko

    Marky

This is looking at the future core and a lineup without any free agents.

Boeser should have made the jump next season so there wouldn't be so much talk about Pirri, Hudler and now Kane....

And ruin his development? Even Boeser said I don't want to ruin my development so I'd rather talk about Pirri, Hudler and Kane rather than ruining our best goal scoring prospect.

Nobody had OJ at 5, at least not the majority. I am not saying he is wrong but an early first rounder he seems to go against the grain.

Most had him at 6 and some had him at 5 but considering our needs he was a good pick.

I just like how everyone on Facebook was so confident that he was going to stay in OKC and then he signs with the Warriors. At least it's only a two year deal with a player option on the second year so if he wins his first year, he'll most likely head back to free agency since he's already won.

Or he'll re-sign to win even more.

Sutter always wore #16 but we all know why he can't wear that here then last year he picked #21. It will be interested to see what number Eriksson wears for sure. And I am excited for the World Cup of Hockey, cuz team Sweden is likely gonna put Sedins+Eriksson on a line and we will get our first glance at how that line will jell and also give them extra games before the seasons to familiarize with one another again!

Didn't the Sedins say they weren't playing the World Cup of Hockey?
