Offensively he plays a bit like Will Lockwood minus the explosive skating, and hits that Will is known for. He will need to develop that part of his game to be relevant in pro hockey

What is your Canucks 23 man opening lineup ?
kenhodgejr replied to Odjick the Warrior's topic in Canucks Talk
To me Myers is terrible defensively and costs the team way to much. He needs to play with someone who is more defensive than offensive. When I look at who's on the left side playing defence OEL, Hughes, Rathbone, and Juolevi I think pairing him with Juolevi makes the most sense. That said. If Juolevi beats out Rathbone in camp then I would put Myers in over Schenn. But if its Rathbone I like Schenn with him -
I would love to see this guy work his way onto our line up. We could use more toughness on the team

The confidence and demeanour almost reminded me of when Chris Pronger first came into the league

2021-22 Abbotsford Canucks Thread
kenhodgejr replied to GoldenAlien's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Should we start a new thread on projected opening line up for Abbotsford? -
Nic Petan has played a fair amount of NHL games. Thoughts on where Nic Petan will fit in? At 26 he could be a late bloomer
-
Podkolzin reminds me a bit of Zadina who had a good season last year in Detroit.

I know this has proposal concept has been mentioned before. Here we go again. This is to get Vancouver to save some money and acquire pieces that make our team tougher to play against. Rathbone and Juolevi are ready for a breakout season. Sheltering their minutes and allowing them to split the season will make it easier for them to play good hockey for the games they get put in. To Vancouver - Pavel Zacha & Ryan Graves, To NJD - Quinn Hughes New lines for next season (every line in the top 4 has some form of speed, skill, high energy, and grit) (defence has more size and is meaner to play against. This will give players like Rathbone and OEL room to make offensive plays) Miller Pettersson Boeser Pearson Horvat Garland Hoglander Zacha Podkolzin (Zacha is good for 20+ goals on that line and could take Horvat's spot on the 2nd line) Motte Dickenson Sutter Highmore OEL Hamonic Rathbone Poolman (Rathbone plays a similar game to Hughes) Graves Myers (Graves makes us legitimately larger and gives us a chance to hang in with the heavyweight teams in the playoffs) Juolevi Schenn Demko Halak

2021-22 Abbotsford Canucks Thread

its going to be a lot of hard work for Nielson to prove he belongs on this AHL team. It will likely be a similar learning curve to what Lind, Gadjovich, MacEwan went through -
Abbotsford has an whole new team. It will be interesting to see how he competes with the roster of newly signed players and where he fits in. With his cousin as backup I think stepping into somewhat of a leadership role on that team and proving he can be a top 6 forward with that roster will be his next step
-
if he works hard enough he has a chance. What he has going for him is his ability to bang in ugly pucks in front of the net like Thomas Holmstrom. He is built for playoff hockey. He can win fights against other tough men and will stand up for his teammates. He could be somewhat of a Burrows story. I agree that he needs at least another season in Abby to improve the small details of his skating.

Canucks requiring covid vaccination for staff and fans
kenhodgejr replied to cuporbust's topic in Canucks Talk
I had Covid. I got it at the very beginning. Around the same time Tom Hanks wife got it. It was horrible. I was sick for about a week. Everyone should be vaccinated! -
i think Rathbones puck moving and offence will really help us this season

We need someone with size, a respected reputation, can win fights, and also play hockey. The guy I like is Marcus Foligno from Minnesota He could play up and down our left wing ultimately allowing Podkolzin to start on the fourth line in sheltered minutes. Miller Pettersson Boeser Pearson Horvat Garland Foligno Dickinson Hoglander Motte Sutter Podkolzin

I like it. He is like a free RD prospect who has already had time to let his game season a bit. He is at a great age to push himself to the next level. He will get decent ice time playing in Abbotsford and have to shot at filling in the Canucks line up in the event of injuries.
