  1. After doing the draft lottery simulator a hole bunch of times we will most likely pick between 1-8. I wouldn't be surprised if we picked 7th. Even at 7, we can still land a pick like Cody Glass, Cale Makar, Timothy Liljegren, Nick Suzuki, Michael Rasmussen, Juuso Valimaki, Nicolas Hague, Eli Tolvanen, Elias Petterson, Martin Necks, Klim Kostin. Similar to last years draft the top15 look like NHL players
  2. What about Cale Makar? He looks like he could score a lot of goals as a D, might even be better than Liljegren
  3. Jack and I have the same last name so I'm praying we draft him so I can have a Canucks jersey with my own last name on it!!
  4. I would argue Edler's value is equal to Yannik Hansen's. A low second round prospect + a 3rd round conditional pick. Or a mid to high first round pick with no other picks. If there is chance we can get a mid 1st round pick i would be ok adding in a high pick to make the deal happen.
  5. I agree that Bear is the odd one out. Granlund and Horvat are special players that must be protected. Would be nice to replace bear with a younger more versatile prospect like left handed centre Henrik Borgstrom from Florida. Maybe an Edler + Baertchi package to Florida.
  6. If we are picking in the 4-8 range and if he is available I think we really need to consider Owen Tippett. The guy is a scoring machine. Having Tippett and Boesser as our fist and second line RW's would be awesome. This team needs goals and size and youth. Tippett brings all of those things. Lockwood in my opinion is our next best offensive RW who would be good on the 3rd line leaving Virtanen as a fast skating 4th line checker. If Benning can trade Edler + Columbus's 2nd for a struggling big centre like NIck Bjugstad who we could add to our depth then that will take some pressure off who we draft.
  7. I would be ok with Hutton Tanev Juolevi Stecher Tyramkin Gudbranson
  8. Next year I think him and Cassels will have break out seasons.
  9. I see him as a Scott Hartnell type of player. A guy that can put up 20 goals while keeping people honest and leaving it out on the ice every shift. Its guys like this you need in the playoffs and no teams want to get rid of them while they are still young and impactful. Kassian was looking to be the same type of player before he got into drugs and alcohol. Guys like this don't come around to often.
  10. I would like to see Juolevi play with Subban. The combination of safe smart plays with offence could work well similar to Edler and Ehrhoff 2011 Edler Stetcher Hutton Gudbranson Juolevi Subban beiga larson Trade Tanev for C, loose Sbisa to vegas.
  11. Can someone confirm if Dahlen is playing C or Wing on his current team?? If wing then which one?
  12. Hope to see him have a good off season of training and return to school stronger and heavier.
  13. I like this kid but he needs to earn ice time the way Granlund, Horvat, Beartchi, Guance, etc. have. One of the best things WIlly did was make players earn their spots. If we loose him at the end of this season I hope his replacement continues with this philosophy.
  14. Zack MacEwan instead of Tyramkin in front of net. He is a legit Power Forward. Burtuzzi like. Beartchi Horvat Boesser Goldy Stetcher MacEwan Gaudette Granlund Juolevi Lockwood
  15. If we draft LW Ryan Peohling and Benning trades with Buffalo for RW prospect Cliff Pu we could have a line: Peohling- Chaput -Pu hahahah
  16. As a hockey player I can tell you not a lot of guys could pull that off
  17. I was looking at the 2012 NHL draft. Galchenyuk at 3 and Forsberg at 11 are arguably the best players of that draft in terms of most points earned for their clubs. I was thinking, why did other clubs pass over these guys? I feel there is a tendency to favour big north american players over smaller skilled players. Also people tend to pick based on positional need. In the 2016 draft LW Patrik Laine was the best scorer and was picked 2nd over C Austin Mathews. I think the best scorer of this draft is Eli Tolvanen. A shot like his is exactly what we need. He is a pure sniper like the Laine's and Stamkos's of the league. I see him as a Temu Selane type player. Realistically we will finish somewhere in the 4-8th spot. Where we draft remains to be seen. I see the draft going like this. Hischier Patrick Vilardi Liljegren Tolvanen Tippett Rasmussen Necas If he is available when we draft I say take him so we have a lethal PP weapon.
  18. 1 season in Utica, another 10 pounds of muscle and he should be ready for NHL
  19. Bet when the other players order rib eyes when out for dinner he orders scallops
  20. I would be ok if we finished the season strong and drafted in the 8-15 range. Callan Foote would be the kind of guy who would round out our team adding grit, size, character, and a big point shot. He might not be the superstar #1 centre were looking for but we will be a valuable core player moving forward making Gudbranson expendable.
  21. I am reminded about something that Jim Benning said last draft. He said something along the lines of every team picking in the first round can get usually find a NHL quality player but the real test is by finding 2-3 more NHL players lower in the draft. That is his goal each draft. Its fair to say a few of our prospects will be NHL caliber players and with 2-3 more drafts we will have that many more quality NHL players all competing for spots. I think by 2020 we can have a good playoff ready team again. How this team will shape up remains to be seen. I would think Edler, Tanev, Sbisa, and maybe Gudbranson will have moved on, along with the Sedins, Eriksson, Skille, Magna, Dorset, and Sutter I am hopping that our new team is one with size, grit, speed, scoring, and character. I would like to see a couple players with big powerful shots. Like a young Webber or Salo. Having that option on the power play is a huge advantage. Also having a quick smooth puck moving defence man who makes smart plays. Juolevi might become that player. Also have a big body like Holmstrome or Byfuglien to plant himself in front of the goalie on PP would be a nice asset. Some more big time forecheckers and hitters like Virtanen and Ferland would be a nice addition. A number 1 centre like Getzlaf or Benn who will fight and stand up for his team and score goals. And wingers who can score, win battles along the boards, and drive the net. I would keep these things in mind when making draft picks.
  22. If the # 1 Centre that this team needs is not available I think a big solid first or second line RD with a big shot who can clear the net would be a valuable addition. Callan Foote would be a safe pick. Almost Shea Webber like . He is currently 6ft 3, 2008 lbs and he will be getting bigger. Probably fill out to 6ft 3, 230lbs. Another player with great lineage. I think we need to start adding more big solid Canadian/ Americans to balance out the smaller skilled european players. We could use a big body with a good shot but he is not a know fighter. Would be a good replacement to Erik Gudbranson. If Liljegren can beef up and add muscle he is probably an elite 1st line pairing. compares to Lidstrom? His potential is higher than Foote but he is similar to Juolevi. A third option is Nicolas Hague- Currently 6ft 6, 212- shoots left, he will probably fill out around 240lbs. Similar to Tyramkin. He has a bit of a mean streak and dominant play. I don't see him being the star defencman of the team but he could be a great roll player.
