  1. Studnicka on the PP more than once........BB, what are you doing?!!! LOL, feels like BB and JR are so far doing what they can for the tank also.
  2. Demko has been brutal this year......but, after the last couple of years how can we not given him some slack. I do think he should sit for a week or two though while giving him some time with Ian Clark.
  3. Petey won't stick around for a rebuild. He said as much as he signed his second NHL contract. It would be ridiculous to keep him at this point. You could argue to keep QH and I'd not shy away from that given the length of his contract.
  4. Thought it was a high hit +/- butt end. But of course this team is getting a taste of what the 2011 Canucks team had to deal with in the playoffs.
  5. Well, the talent is floating around and waiting for the opposition to give them space and time......so it's on the players too. Watching Boston play is unfortunately a demonstration of how to build a team and how a team should play together......heavy, fast, taking time away and supporting each other (physically and structurally). I also wonder if fitness is the limiting factor for this team......would explain the country club appearance.
  6. Did anyone else just see Myers in the penalty box holding up a sign "Come home Bedard"?
  7. One comparison at the roster specs vs Boston tells you a lot about the make-up of this team.......shorter and lighter. We have a lightweight team and yet we're no faster than Boston. They're clearly hungrier and defend aggressively vs our roster who tends to give up too much space.
  8. You must be 3 shots in now. You'll need more.....
  9. It does feel like the balance of the future lies in if they trade Miller or not (or if Miller can play well on a bad team with his mouth shut for a bunch of years which I'm not confident of). I think they can ride out OEL's contract in a rebuild.
  10. When our team lost its truculence and bite. When the shovels and axes got swapped for golf clubs and manicures. I can cheer for this team as long as I see them trying to make a difference. Right now Schenn is the only one doing that for me. Right now there's too many players worrying about the pay cheques and fast cars and not enough hunger for a cup. Time to tear it down. I want to see a team of wrecking balls with 1-2 lines of skill.
  11. Garland has been doing fine from my standpoint. If the team matched his energy we'd be in better shape. He's on a 50+ point pace and his +/- is even which is good for a losing team. Now, one could argue that he's benefiting from being on Bo's line, but at least he's not slowing Bo down this year. Miller was awful to start the season but now I'd say he's just average. Petey has been good but not dominating good. Martin's been very good in some games and decent in others. Kuzmenko and Milky have been streaky but promising. Boeser, Pearson, Rathbone, Hogs, Stillman, Demko have all been very disappointing. You know it's a tough year though when Schenn looks like your best player behind Bo! For those thinknig we're going to lose Bo, I think this will depend on Bo, not management. I think management easily trades Boeser to get the money they need. Miller's future is the big question. If they find a way to trade Miller and Boeser, this team actually has a chance to turn things around in the next couple of years.....but a rebuild would be smarter.
  12. No point in comparing. At this point they're both looking bad. JB for his construction and JR & team for their treatment of the team publicly. Even if you think it, you should NEVER talk about how Bo's trade value is going up based on his play. Not just stupid from a business perspective (more likely Bo will not care to help the team out), but it is a slap to the fanbase that wants to keep Bo. JR should have kept his mouth shut no matter what he was thinking. Perhaps he's actually trying to convince the owner that this team needs a tear-down by making it worse......but I think it's giving him too much credit.
  13. Reasonable analysis I think......our D aren't great and Demko has been subpar for him but defensively our forwards have not been helping. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/upon-further-review-how-the-canucks-forwards-are-failing-the-defence/ Interesting also that Schenn has been playing the body well all season so far and he has the best +/- of the group (sure, matchups may be helping?). Either way, the best that this Canucks team have looked so far has been when they played a period or two with heavy forechecking and hits. The trouble is that this team is not built for that for 82 games + playoffs.
  14. If he were sent down to the minors it would be considered a stop for a cup of coffee at the NHL level. He hasn't earned a regular role yet. But hey, it could just be that the person manning the website is just lazy and hasn't changed his status yet.
  15. Because he has not yet shown himself to be a NHL regular yet. In a perfect world (for him), this team would be rebuilding and he'd have time to make mistakes. But while this ownership / leadership is delusional and expecting this team to make the playoffs, Rathbone is quite frankly not helping. Lots of potential, but not there yet.....and that's what I would define as a prospect.
  16. Miller is the big question mark....can they trade him now? I think they'll sign and keep Bo unless Bo wants out. Bo is more valuable to this team going forward. I say all this as a Miller fan (but not a fan of his contract) and as someone who has been critical of Bo's captaincy. Brock has to be traded when he's on a run........even if we don't get full value. He will be coveted still and we need the cap space. Garland - I would be shocked to see him go unless we're on a full fire sale. I've liked Pearson as the reliable swiss army knife over the years but his +/- has been atrocious this year. Once healthy, I'm not sure how they deal with that contract but with JR's history, Pearson's days are likely near over for the Canucks.
  17. All talk and no action creates the same results.......we......don't.......have.......the.........right........personnel. Strip it down JR.
  18. Perhaps my view was very limited and I missed all the good stuff (quite possible), but Brisebois did not impress me so far. Burroughs I'm good with though......he makes his mistakes but he has brought enough to make me think he will continue to get better.
  19. LOL how much will Bo cost them at this rate?!!! Or conversely, how much will Bo get them at this rate?!!!
